So now everyone is shipping Zoe with Esme. I don´t think Zoe is in a good enough place herself to deal with Esme´s mess. I think if Esme pulls the right strings she might be even in for a double suicide. I also see that they have some chemistry but I´d be more interested in them playing each other off as opponents.

ChinaTequilia 07-30-2016 12:28 PM

As someone who likes the idea of Zoe/Esme, all I can say is that it's not something I want to see explored now. Zoe is too vulnerable and Esme needs serious help before getting involved with anyone. But in the future, if things were different, I wouldn't mind. I'd rather see that over Zoe/some random character brought in solely to be her girlfriend. I hate when the show does that.

Okun 07-31-2016 05:05 AM

Beware from Zoe getting her own Jack. I´d be okay with a new girl who´s maincast though. With Esme I see more the road that the one who´ll finally get her help (in which I don´t see Zoe) will be her love interest.

ChinaTequilia 07-31-2016 11:09 AM

I'd be disappointed if they didn't explore anything between Zoe and Esme if only because of the chemistry. Also, there aren't many characters on the show you could say are Zoe's "match" and the idea of those twp getting together interests me. Technically, Zoe's Jack could have been Jack if they'd done with her what they did with Jonah. At least I already know there's chemistry.

Okun 08-01-2016 04:44 AM

Well I´m happy that they didn´t keep Jack around after they threw her as plot device from plot to plot.
Maybe Esme and Zoe can have a ONS just to fend off frustration. I think Esme would go with it even if she´s not into girls, because I guess she´s into anything that gives her attention.

ChinaTequilia 08-01-2016 11:43 AM

I'm not saying I wanted Jack to stay. Definitely not. Besides, her story line and Zoe's story line with being closeted at home might be a bit too similar. At this point, I have no idea what to think of Esme. It looks like she's into Zig at the moment, but I'm not getting the vibe it's something that will stick. I would have bet anything Miles/Esme would have some followup in 15B, but that didn't happen. Honestly, I'd prefer no Zesme one night stand to a one night stand so soon after what happened with Zoe and Grace. If only because it feels insulting to have all the female same sex ships get one night stands (Fiona/Charlie, Zoe/Grace) while the male same sex ships have full on sexual relationships (Tristan/Miles, Marco/Dylan).

Okun 08-02-2016 01:07 AM

I guess Miles had to keep away from Esme for his own sanity. If they drop Zig/Esme right away, then their story wouldn´t have been needed at all. Maybe they´ll use Zig saving Esme to redeem him (not that it would mean anything to me) or she really is just another hook up he has.
As far as I know Fiona and Charlie didn´t have a ONS. They were together for a short period and I don´t know if they´ve done more than kissing.
I can see a ONS for Zoe and Esme because I think Zoe would use it to push her ego. Because this time there´d be no feelings involved, she´d be in control and couldn´t get hurt the next morning.

ChinaTequilia 08-02-2016 11:25 AM

I'm not saying it didn't make sense from Miles' POV. I'm personally happy he stayed away from Esme. All I meant is that I expected something more on Esme's side. Pining for Miles, trying to get into contact, etc. But since Esme is only barely her own character, that did not happen and instead she was used for Zig and Zoe's plots.

Fiona and Charlie definitely had sex. I remember Fiona confiding in Eli after it happened. It was only once, because shortly after, Fiona realized she wasn't ready for a relationship. And something to do with not being able to take a sip of alcohol without feeling she could lose control. Now it's a less harsh example than what happened between Zoe and Grace, but it's still nor the same as what Triles or Darco got. Considering that there were three long term female/female ships, it's kind of notable.

Personally, I think it could go either way. Both Zoe and Esme can be kind of unpredictable. I think that's why I love the idea of them.

New interview with Ana, with a few (pretty much) non spoilery hints about S3 & S4 of Next Class.

kaleidocat 09-01-2016 12:33 PM

I'm gonna have to pop back in here after I see more of Next Class season 2 because it seems like Zoe's story is just getting started. I was surprised by the possible foreshadowing of self injury...super interesting turn! Zoe is so tough and off putting at times and then when she's vulnerable it is impossible not to love her. Sour patch kid!

No way!!!

Yeah, come back here. Zoe´s storyline is the best this season IMO. :)

I guess I still have to wait until it´s put on Netflix over here but at least here´s a new interview:

Thanks for the interview! I haven't watched the full length yet but I saw this little clip...

I was actually looking for Frankie while Zoe struggles to accept her sexual identity. If Tristan isn't going to get it, Frankie might have a hard time turning her away. She was kinda busy though so I get it.

When Miles and Zoe were introduced they were hooking up with each other, now they're both LGBT characters.
Random.. and perhaps out of character... but as a gay dude I don't mind at all!
But I do think they have a tendency to 'turn characters gay' for storyline purpose.
Like with Paige, Alex, Fiona, Imogen.. now it's Miles, Zoe and Grace (sort of) [Did I miss anyone?]
It'd be nice to have a lesbian who already knew she was gay from the start.
Well we had Jack, but Jack was more of a supporting character to Imogen's storyline. With no real focus on her or her family.
Marco and Riley had to deal with homophobes and being called Fags, but we never got to see that kind of coming out story from a girls' perspective.
Younger generations are more accepting of gay people nowadays so perhaps we missed out on that.
With this cast of characters there isn't a single one that really cares about whos gay like the way Spinner, Jay, Hazel, Owen. etc. had a problem with it.
Oh well, I can always rewatch South of Nowhere.

Well, we´re talking teens here. They are still in a process to discover themselves. And with Zoe I really think it fits the rest of her storyline at Degrassi. She never really could connect with a guy on an emotional level but with Grace there were the sparks that were missing with the guys before. I don´t know if they had this intended all along or if at some point they thought, well there´s never been any sparks with a guy, what would happen when she meets the right girl?

Paige and Alex I don´t know (yet) but with Miles and Imogen I also see it fitting their character development. Only with Fiona it was rushed and out of nowhere. But my guess is that maybe the rumors were true and they intended an incest storyline that never could happen and needed a Plan B. But other from the rushed handling at the beginning and the fact that I didn´t like Charlie that much, I liked her later storyline with Imogen.

JustMe2000 09-20-2016 06:45 PM

I'm curious to see where things head with her, especially since her mother didn't seem to look favorably at even the hint that her daughter might have viewed her female friends as more than a friend.
