Now I'll be enjoying the OP for a few moments. I love the yearbook concept. Rick's picture looks the most like a yearbook photo, minus the funky background (Degrassi needs to do a photoshoot with this influence - I want to see some lasers!).

So I'm not really watching The LA Complex, because I kinda forgot all about it (must not have read Stohn's Twitter page enough recently), but I did turn to it for a few minutes.

Who should I find? BLT! Or as some other clueless fools might know him, Dayo Ade.

And looking at his IMDB page, it appears he's going to be in five of these episodes. Works for me.

The Grid newspaper in Toronto has an oral history of the DJH/DH days, featuring some of the usual suspects (Linda, Stefan, Stacie, Amanda) as well as some others (Dan Woods, Darrin Brown and Yan Moore).

Stefan read for Joey. Can you imagine how history would have changed if he had gotten the role? Yeah, me neither.

Stacie had a crush on Stefan.

At one point, Linda was actually making lunches for the kids on TKoDS.

Darrin sounds a little bitter- can't completely blame him, though.

There's also a where are they now? thing featuring those above and a few others.

LS: Amanda walked in with that hair—that was her hair!—and did her audition, and we said to each other afterwards, “Oh my—that girl is not Stephanie Kaye, but we need her in our show!” It was the same with Stefan: “That boy is not Joey Jeremiah, but we need him in our show.” So the role of Snake and the role of Spike were created specifically for those two actors.”

DB: [The famous fight scene with between Dwayne and Joey] was one of the examples of Degrassi being kind of ghetto—and where doing things their way wasn’t necessarily the best idea. The problem is that they were non-union, and there aren’t a lot of non-union stunt coordinators around—anybody who knows what they’re doing is with ACTRA. To be fair, they brought in some hippie-dippy woman who taught Alexander Technique movement, which really didn’t count. Pat hurt his back, and he broke my nose. It was my own fault: When you do a knee to the face, the knee should never get too close, and it was my responsibility to pull back at the right time. I wasn’t trained and I didn’t pull back and Pat spread my nose all over my face. So half the blood you see on that episode is mine. They didn’t do dangerous stuff most of the time and they were pretty good about making sure we were safe, but that was one time where doing it the Playing With Time [production company] way wasn’t necessarily a good idea.

Yay for a new thread. I don't think I could ever imagine Stefan as Joey it just would not work at all.

I don't think I could either, but then again I suppose if Stefan had gotten that role the character probably would have been different.

Anyone craving some old school episodes? I've been in the mood to watch Bad Blood for awhile now but I don't have the DVDs. Isn't the series legally up on YouTube? Or was that just Degrassi Junior High? These past few days I've been thinking about watching Showtime.

The PBS channel on YouTube has all the episodes from Season 1 and Season 2 of DJH.

Hulu has all the episodes of Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High, except for some reason, the DJH episode, Dog Days. That's a shame, because I always loved the Arthur/Stephanie relationship and I think that was the last episode in which it got featured. It is available on YouTube.

Oh and Bad Blood, at least part 1, which I figured is what you'd want to start with.

Thank you! I may have to take a trip down memory lane one of these days. Especially since it is driving me crazy trying to remember that box of snacks Dwayne's friend would carry around. Every scene...there she is munching. What the hell were those called?
