This is a thread dedicated to people who are not so enthusiastic about Eli/Munro. Lately, fangirls have squealing about Munro and all I ever hear is "OMG! Munro is sooo hot!".

Last week, I was talking to Jordan Todosey on Formspring. I checked out her profile and people ask her more about Munro then they do about her! I mean seriously! Fangirls were bothering Jordan asking her "Whats it like working with Munro?" "Does Munro have Formspring?" "Are Munro and Aislinn dating?"

All of this Eli/Munro love is annoying the hell out of me. Theres already an Anti Clare thread so I don't see why I can't make one dedicated to hating on Eli.

I'll join, but let's not talk about the fans and instead focus on why we don't like the character. :)

can i join? Eli is annoying me too. i like Clare so him acting like a clingy douche is annoying me...and i do like Eclare.. but only cause i like Clare..

Okay.

I don't like Eli because

1)He generally has no plotline except to be all mushy with Clare.

2)Hes creepy in general

3)He tried to poison Fitz

4)He framed Fitz

5)Doesn't wear Deodorant:sick:

6)Has no real role in the show except to be creepy with Clare.

Because it should have been him instead of the wall :look:

Joking! (kind of) I don't want to be added yet, but he's been really irritating. Maybe I'll have more to say when his clingy-stalker episode airs.

Ugh, I hate Eli. Pick ANYONE besides him, Clare! T_T

i kinda ship Clare/Fitz..

Eclare is an eyesore.

Right now, Clare/Fitz sounds amazing

I wouldn't say they are an eye sore as much as Eli needs some serious help... he obviously has some problems.. if he stop being an ass for one episode and a nice guy the next maybe i would like him

I have always liked Clitz!! if nothing else i want them to be friends..

Everytime I see the Much promo with him glaring at what I assume is Clare's house, I feel really creeped out.

Building on these reasons, I hate that he's such a bully and refuses to admit it or see his hypocrisy in the "rivalry" with Fitz. He was the instigator every step of the way, leading up to the night of the dance when he tried to poison him. I hated how ultimately Eli was portrayed as the sympathetic one and Fitz was the villain. Not that Fitz is totally innocent (by any means) but Eli really is responsible for dragging out their rivalry as long as possible and going out of his way to make Fitz angry.

I hate his pretentious way of speaking. Totally bizarre speech patterns and then there was the butchered Latin phrase. :lol:

He called Adam, his supposed friend, a girl. Which could be considered a transphobic slur since Adam once was... a girl. And using "girl" as an insult is misogynistic in general.

His parents creep me out.

And overall, I can't take his character seriously because he seems like Clare dreamed him up out of one of her fan fictions. He's just this brooding, mysterious, ~dark (but not really), "bad boy" whose characterization lacks any depth and is so contrived and laughable that I'm forced to roll my eyes at every new "revelation" about him. I feel that he exists solely to fulfill the "teen dream" ideal. And I resent that his whole backstory was shoved down our throats and I'm supposed to care about things that I'm hearing about secondhand, never actually witnessed, and are told in a completely unimaginative way. AND I'M SUPPOSED TO EMPATHIZE. :rolleyes:

Sign me up! I can't stand him. He's such a hypocritical, immature bully. I don't get the hype at all nor do I understand all the fantards "love" for Munro.

Eli really was the instigator in the whole feud with Fitz. He DID start it. He tried to park in a spot that Fitz and his friends were loitering in and tried to force them to move. Is it really that hard to find another spot? Get over it! The whole fake ID and attempting to poison him was way out of line and extremely immature. I'm Team Fitz all the way. I'm not saying that Fitz is innocent, but he is supposed to be portrayed as the villain while Eli is portrayed as the "good guy" when he's just as bad as Fitz if not even worse. Not even that, but the kid could use a good pounding.

Not to mention the way he treated Adam in Purple Pills by insulting him about something he's extremely sensitive about. Adam deserves a better friend than him. Clare... I can't really say she can do better because I hate her even more than I hate him, but that just makes it even harder to withstand their scenes. I don't get the hype over those two at all, but that's for another thread.

Yay for other Eli haters besides me! When I tried to tell my pals that Eli wasn't really a big deal they just got all defensive over a FICTIONAL character.

Christine, basically everything you said is true, and I love that you noticed the Latin phrase problem. (If you're going to use ridiculous and contrived dialogue, at least say it properly)

One thing, though. In fairness, I think that him calling Adam a girl was misognystic, but not transphobic. In context, he really didn't mean it in light of Adam's Trans-ness, and really only said it because he thinks of Adam as a guy.

That said, he has no redeeming qualities, so I'm not even sure why I'm defending him. :P

Of course, the weird thing about Eli hate is that he hasn't really existed outside of Eclare, so it's almost difficult for me to think of him independently

Oh - I only knew that because you mentioned it in the ep discussion thread! Everything out of Eli's mouth is just white noise to me. :look: Honestly though, even if he had said the phrase correctly, it was still a completely bizarre moment.

We need a thread title! Also, I'm not sure "fangirls" is appropriate for the list...? "Haters" is what we usually use for anti threads unless someone has a more imaginative idea. :)
