That's the thing....I liked her a lot before this season and even now, I'm not even sure I completely dislike her. But, the way the show seems to present her as if she almost has a golden halo around her has become exasperating.

Okay so... lately Clare's been getting on my nerves-- 1029/1030 were kind of the last straw. I'm officially jumping on the bandwagon.
Like everyone else already pointed out, the shows become the Eclare show. Their storylines are contrived, and take up way more sceen time than they should. Clare constantly sticks her nose where it doesn't belong and faces no consequences for her actions. Her irritating sense of entitlement (keeping the house, really?) is over the top. And yet no one calls her out on anything. I really hate this new characterization of Clare, and I find myself missing her awkward days of writing fanfiction and wearing her uniform. She's so far from where she started. :s |

Eli and Clare's relationship has been so bi-polar. First they're all, "Get away! I'm mad at you! You suck!" and then it goes all lovey dovey. Not many scenes where they actually make up. Usually it's just Eli admits he's wrong and Clare's right. Quote:

Not sure if anyone mentioned this (I haven't really gone back to read too far), but was anyone else bothered by the fact that Eli made a point in rejecting Claire (because of Julia) only to start dating her a couple of episodes later?
I also kind of feel like they take themselves too seriously. And to think, before season 10, Claire was one of my favourite characters. It's a shame she did a 180. |

Plus, Julia was like, totally evil since she had the nerve to die and turn Eli into a hoarder. Good thing Clare showed Julia that she's way better!

Again, that was supposed to be the "conflict." It was way too short lived, and now they're completely in love and going to live happily ever after. That's why I don't understand their popularity. Their relationship is completely and totally unrealistic.

I still like Clare but it's really hard to do that when she has Eli on the brain 24/7 I did a facepalm when she came to school in that emo-goth look.
she reminds of one of Jerry's girlfriends from Seinfeld--every character always has a flaw one way or another. One of his girlfriends was the exact opposite--she was smart, pretty, has a well-paying job, great taste in clothes, does charity work, respects her parents, lots of friends, polite; she was great but Jerry's friends don't like her. What was wrong with her?? There was absolutely nothing wrong with her |

Omg, this thread was buried for so long and the last post of 2010 had a brilliant reference to Seinfeld? How could we let this happen?????
I keep wishing Darcy would come back and put Clare in her place. |

This thread always makes me a little bit sad. I cannot stand Clare at all now, but I really liked her in season 9, and thought she was tolerable and realistic in season 8. Eh, whatever, hate is mroe fun than coherent thought.

I really miss seasons 8-9 Clare.
Clearly the Degrassi writers pressed the "reset" button on a lot of things for season 10, but what they did to Clare is the worst. It's tragic, really. |
