Why was Spike so sidelined in School's Out?
I hate School's Out. The overly dark plots I can forgive, because it's extremely Degrassi, but the alarming lack of Spike? I cannot forgive that. She is there for pretty much like two minutes with no character development other than "she is working at a photo lab and she is going to university". It's a shame. She was one of the most popular OGs and she was just a glorified extra with two lines.
Also, the heavy Joey and Caitlin focus. I'm probably gonna get mauled but I never really liked those two. Not because I think they are bad characters, but because they weren't that interesting to me. It seems like they were the most popular because they were the most 'teen magazine' looking characters and I felt like they could have centered on other people. Wheels is prominent, but I felt he was interesting, just like Spike.
