I Have an Oily T-Zone

Help. It's disgusting, and I want to die. I take good care of my face, too. Damnit! Please, does anyone have any advice/suggestions?

Your T-Zone's your forehead, nose, and areas around the mouth.

maybe a mattifying moisturizer or just a mattifying gel ( i know clean&clear brand has one). I have an oily t-zone as well as oily and dry spots, so i use origin's "balanced diet" moisturizer. it has clay minerals to absorb oil, but also moisterizes really well. i've been trying it out for like a week and a half and i'm really happy with it. before i was using the body shop's tea tree oil mattifying moisture gel, and it was okay..but i was still a little shiny. also, an oil free powder helps reduce shine ...again, clean&clear brand had a shine and redness reducing powder...but i don't know if they still make it. but any other cosmetic face powder works too. i use the body shop's tea tree oil face powder that is supposed to be mattifying as well and it works fairly well. i use a powder brush to apply too. it makes it look more natural and soft that using the powder puff thing.

heh. um...i know too much about this stuff..lol.

My T-zone really annoys me. It can't make up its mind if it's oily or dry. I often need to moisturise but then later on I go all shiny! I can't win. I might try out some of the suggestions here - thanks

Ha! Bet you're one of those ppl that I envy who don't have this problem.

I use oil-absorbing sheets during the day. At night, I use the typical cleanser, toner, moisturizer combo. I use to have a more oily T-zone but now it's more in control so I look normal most of the time. You have to be careful which moisturizer to choose. It's best to choose one for combination skin. If not, try to use a different moisturizer for the T-zone as opposed to the rest of your face. If you are the really oily type, try choosing facial products with tea tree oil in it, it should help reduce the shine more. Be aware of how much treatment you give your skin with these products though. Too much of it will dry your skin out and it would appear dry and flaky and then a little later it would be even shinier than before cuz your skin realized too much oil has been taken away from excessive use of facial products.

Good luck if you're trying out anything we suggested.

I use these oxy pad deals that you can buy at drug stores. They work really well. And instead of spending money on blotting sheets, use bathroom tissue throughout the day. And stay away from acne cleansers...use regular soap. All the ones I've tried have done nothing but aggravate my acne.

I have heard and read that Cetaphil is very good so it might be worth looking into?

I feel so inadequate. I do an at home face mask or just cleanse or mostrise once a week at the most. I don't even own my own skin products at the moment! I should really start taking better care of it before it turns on me. I do however get three minsicule reoccuring blackheads the sit just above my lip - like on the line. Is there any good blackheads getting rid of products? I'm the only one that notices them ( I hope!) but I still know they are there. ::eyes narrows::

I think though James, your best bit will be to buy two seperate sets of skin products - one espicially for your T-Zone and one for the rest of your face. I think I read that that was the best thing to do for combination skin.

I've been Clean & Clear's bitch as of late. I bought their excess oil removal cloth thingies--they work really well, they're just small. I also bought blackhead removal facewash. You might wanna try that, Freya. It hasn't done much, yet, but I've only been using it for a day or two. Oh, and whatever! You're such a bragger. My nose is drowning in blackheads, and I'm trying my hardest to get rid of them. Hopefully that darned facial will help some.

Freya, you might check out the Igia blemish remover thing that...uses a suction cup to suck it out of your pores. i've been wanting to buy one to try, because i too get blackheads around my lips. I don't know if they sell them in australia though...

other than that, i'd suggest an astringent or face srub that is targeted at removing black heads....but they're pretty hard to get rid of. once they've created that space in your pores they just seem to come back.
