Do you have a Hidden Bias?

Check out Harvard U's Hidden Bias test!

Hidden Bias Test

I got this website from a friend of mine. You take a 5 minute test on a variety of subjects (you pick!) and see if you have a hidden bias.

It's pretty informative!

i took the age one and i scored young over old, or something like that anywho. i feel i scored that way because society tends to push negative vibes towards seniors and...eh i'm too tired. i'm not sure what i want to say at this exact moment.

Well I'm not sure how exact these things are. I took the lighter skin-darker skin IAT because it's something I know I'm neutral about..and I got

Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for Light Skin relative to Dark Skin

I don't really agree with that conclusion. I'm half 'white' and half 'Latino'

For age, it said that I had "little to no" preference for Old over Young.

That's not true. I'm kind of ehh around old people.

For George W. Bush vs. Abraham Lincoln, I had a moderate preference for Lincoln over Bush. I'd say thats a STRONG preference.

That was interesting but I got tired of it. I did the gender one and got:

Your data suggest little or no association between science and Male relative to Female

Huh? I didn't even know that was what it was about. It would have been better if it were Business and Male relative to Female.

I also did the race one. That one was interesting and tricky - when they flash the words and then the pictures of blacks and whites. I got:

Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for European American relative to African American

I did the young/old one but I feel like it measured how well you could switch back and forth more than anything

for the old/young one i got: Your data suggest little or no automatic preference for Old relative to Young

for the gender/science one i got: Your data suggest a moderate association between science and Male relative to Female

for the race black/whate one i got: Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for White relative to Black ( i tend to disagree with that, but i've never really been around many black people so i just am not really used to dealing with people of races other than white or hispanic)

for presidential candidates: Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for Kerry relative to Bush (change that moderate to strong and i'd agree )

Hokay...there sure are a lot of those thingies. I certainly can not do them all in one fell swoop. I shall do some more later. Heh. because, yes. I am that bored.

How scientific is this? I mean I'm not denying my results, they were accurate but I just don't know how this thing works. Is it just based on time?

It must have some scientific quality as it is part of a Harvard Research Study. When I first found this, I was REALLY surprised by the results. But it IS a hidden bias test.
