So every time I open the newspaper or listen to news on the radio (I can't even do television news anymore) I just don't understand what humanity is doing to each other. Why all the fighting? Oh, because your religion? That makes sense. Sigh.
Science fiction shows us what could become of humanity. In Ready Player One we will see the natural consequences of all this bull**** we are doing to each other right now, namely poor people literally stacked on top of each other in vertical trailer parks, clinging to virtual reality as their only hope of escape.
On the other hand, Star Trek shows us what could be if we ever got our heads out of our asses and started working together. When humanity stops warring and starts working together we can actually solve problems, like giving Geordi LaForge the ability to see.
Science Fiction shows us what the future could be, but ultimately it is up to us. What kind of future do you see for humanity?
