I'm thinking about changing my major and I'm kinda nervous about it. I wanna change from Early Childhood Education to History with a minor in education. I'm not sure if I should actually do it. I also wouldn't mind a major in Psychology. I don't know what to do.

Are you only in your first or second year? Should be easier to branch out and try something else when it's still early on.

Two things spring to mind: 1) the possibility of a double major? It's harder, but very doable - I did a double major and still graduated college in four years; 2) changing majors while pursuing teaching certification, which would allow you to study predominantly history or psychology while still having credentials to teach. It would be less intensive than majoring in both. (This is, of course, dependent on whatever your state's certification requirements are, and I am nothing approaching an authority on education). I have no idea if this is even remotely helpful, but just a couple of ideas...good luck with your decision!

agreeing with the piano person and if it is early on id switch now cuz you dont want to end up with a major that you arent passionate about

I would advice examining the reasons that make you want to change it. I changed my major and I dont regret it.It was a tough decision but I know I wouldnt have liked working in another field with my previous major. Think of the future and try to visualize how you would see yourself in a few years, and if you like what you see.

Ok well i'm finishing up my second year and I went and changed my major History with a minor in education. I'm really excited about it. I think i'll just take various psych classes.

Lots of luck and success in your new major. I recently changed my major as well - I earned my associates in Early Childhood Education last May, but I am now at a four year college, and I changed my major to just English. I felt a lot better once I did this and now I can go to school and enjoy learning, instead of dreading it.

You could perhaps major in Psy. and minor in Early Childhood Education. Or you could major in education and teach History. Changing majors can be tough. Esp. if you're halfway through your college experience. I changed my major more than once and ended up taking 6 & 1/2 years to graduate. I went from Elementary Education with a Specialization in Special Education, to Social Work, to Child Development & Family Living with a minior in psychology.

Ahh majors... I'm in my second year of college and my first year I was doing Psychology and now I'm doing Digital Arts... Completely different but I just got nothing out of psych and now I'm majoring in Web Design so much more fun for me.

Do a double. I did, and it was worth it. Besides, it will look great on your vita when you apply for jobs later.

I changed my major from Women's Studies to Anthropology in my junior year.I have no idea why I chose WS to begin with but I don't regret changing it so late. I'm actually ahead of the game because I took Anthro courses before. So do whatever makes you happier.
