Contradicted the whole letter thing at the start of S8 too, since I definitely got the impression that Lucas was replying to those as well.

I think the writing started out as Haley's way of healing, thats the way i understood it when they did that montage with haley writing to lucas...

it just definitely seemed very out of character for Lucas, but also think it would have been cool to see a storyline like that where Lucas answered the letters letting both Haley, Nathan and even Jamie what was going on in their lives. It would have been a way to keep his character on the show without actually having his character there.
