X-Files Forum Closure : I’m old school, Mulder. Pre-Google.
 

Leanne and I have been talking about this, and we’ve been considering closing the board at the end of the year unless we can get some more people posting here with us as regular posters. For months now it’s mostly just been the two of us posting back and forth to one another in The X-Files related threads, so it’s been feeling like it might be time to close the board in the New Year

Please let us know your thoughts about this. Thanks.

Oh no, this is such a shame to read. But I do know how difficult it is to keep a board going when there aren't made active posters around :(

Yeah I would have been happy to keep the board going if we could as it’s been a part of FF for such a long time, but there doesn’t seem much point when there’s next to no people posting with us :(

As sad as it sounds, this time I kind of agree. :( We had a good run!!! :)

Almost 20 years! :eek: Goes to show how great The X-Files is as a show!

There are X-Files threads on the Television forum, the Sci-Fi/Fantasy forum and The 90’s forum!

Can we maybe close the board on 1.1.2022? This way we can wish each other a Happy New Year, one last time... :flowers:

Have either of the moderators contacted Jerry D about the possibility of voluntarily closing the board?

Yes, I pm’d Jerry D on the 28th of November to say that we were talking of having a thread about closing the board at the end of the year if we cannot attract any more people to post with us. I’ll PM him again now to let him know what we’ve decided

It’s the end of an era :(

It was a great place to really discuss all the things I loved about the show and the magic of the actors together!!

I remember joining almost 14 years ago, for this forum only. :) The mods back then were Neel luvs tony and JaydeeMac (sp?). Kia had already been around for a while. :lol: Then so many people disappeared.... Maybe that's the worst. It's difficult to keep things going when so many people just disappear. For me, it was done when Myra left. That was just one departure too many. Oh well, we have other XF forums here. Btw, we should make sure to post their links all over here (especially in this thread), before the board closes!!! :)

Honestly I hate to say it, but it seemed to me like it was the revival that killed off a lot of interest in this forum for some reason. I remember the episode threads were very active for season 10 and there was a lot of excitement and discussion, but then even by the time of season 11 interest had dropped waaay off, and after that it was even quieter. There always used to be at least four or five regular posters on this board in threads like the M/S thread, but after s11 a lot of people left

I’m not sure why though, because if anything the revival seems to have brought a lot of new younger fans to social media like Twitter, but it just seemed like this forum never picked back up again after the revival

Fans just mostly use Twitter and Tumblr a lot now for fandom although IMHO, I don’t know how anyone can have actual discussions on social media as opposed to forum postings! :confused:

I will leave the links where fans can continue to post anything related to the show in the rest of :ff: so I hope to see you guys post and talk when the itch gets you!
