That’s why I feel like the episodes were already shot way before. How could she be pregnant in Ascension when that episode aired in October and her daughter was born in September. Gillian was already off on maternity leave.

I guess it was a different time, but looking at that episode count of 25 episodes, you’d think they could have cut it down to 20 episodes to give Gillian a few more weeks off to spend with her daughter It’s not like they *had* to have 25 episodes, even cutting it down to a regular 22 episode season would have been better than nothing Instead it looks like the bare minimum was done to accommodate her really. I should try and find the interview, but I’m pretty sure I remember them talking about how soon after the birth One Breath was filmed and how Gillian kept falling asleep for real during the coma scenes, so the impression I got was that it was very very soon after the birth __________________

I just don’t think they wouldn’t accommodate her. But considering how they didn’t want to pay her what she deserved, who knows.

It sounds like they did what they could onset to make it more comfortable for her, I just feel that not giving a new mother some more time off after the birth is what is failing to accommodate her, only giving her one episode off out of 25. Not that I would have wanted more episodes without Scully of course, I’m just wondering why they couldn’t cut the overall episode order down to 22 episodes which would have still been plenty, and then they could have maybe taken a little hiatus so she could have had a month or so off
It must have been really hard when I’m sure she wanted to spend time bonding with her newborn, and instead she would have been working 12 hour days or more on The X-Files so soon after the birth. __________________

Not saying she deserved it, but it’s what she signed up for. Gillian was prepared to lose her job for her pregnancy. I wouldn’t expect the show to halt production when they didn’t hire a pregnant actress. As harsh as it is, at least she was able to take her daughter to set every day.

I think it all worked out in the end. I always wondered why she waited until after the show was over to have more kids and if her first experience had anything to do with it. She said in an interview that her last two pregnancies were planned.
Aww his face, he’s so sweet with her. |

It probably had an effect I’m sure, wanting to wait until she had more time to spend at home enjoying the time with her newborn
And I think Scully didn’t really know how to react to him opening the car door for her __________________

I think it just wasn’t typical of Mulder to open doors for her and such, so that’s why she was a little caught by surprise
