I totally like your question, cause I like thinking about things like that.
I don't really know how to answer, because in my opinion it might be something really good when deep throat had appeared as well. Maybe it doesn't make real sense to bring him on to The truth.

I never actually thought about that before. It would have been pretty cool to see him again

I can only think that either Chris Carter didn't think he was needed or maybe he did but couldn't come to an agreement with Jerry Hardin to return

Or maybe because it was 8 years later Jerry Hardin looked too old to still be Deep Throat, as after all a ghost is meant to be the same age as when that person died. Just an idea

also thought of that and i guess he was not available or writers forgot about him, but he is definetely alive and active so i think...they forgot about him. which is really sad. but they forgot about a lot in that finale ! it was really a bad ending...not so for the shipper part, but for the conspiracy storyline it was !

Yeah, it didn't do a great job of "revealing"... I had so many questions after I watched it, I didn't know what to do with myself. I think Jerry Hardin wasn't available at the time... But it reminds me of how Krycek was left out of the movie. They just couldn't "work him in." I think they should have at least gone back to the alley scene where Mulder looks up and sees the guy watching him from the fire escape and put Krycek in there instead. That's all it would have taken for me to be happy: Krycek instead of some random flunky. But, anyway, I'm getting side tracked...

X-Files *Season 9* Appreciation Thread ~ Saying Goodbye!

Welcome to the Season 9 Appreciation Thread
Okay we didn't have a season 9 appreciation thread and even though some of us don't really like season 9 (including myself) but there were still some good things and I have a question.

William - The mystery.

Was he Mulder's, or was he part alien. How did he come to be??

I mean I have stumbled across quotes from the last season, they make it sound like he was different (alien) Was he??

Is anyone as confused as I am?

I am just as confussed as you are. Or better I was! I think he is there son, I totally think, but especially when he lies in his bed and turns the mobile with his thoughts! I am not pretty sure what's true and what's not a kind of secret still for me.
Mybe anyone else thinking different?

My sister asked me that same question (she hasn't seen season 8 or 9) and I just told her in vitro fertilization and that Mulder was the father (I kind of think that's what happened).

I think they describe William several times as a human/alien hybrid. But Spender injected him with something and made him normal (which I have no clue how that could've worked).

The in vitro fertilization seems to be what most people believe happened...

In the change of events, Scully does not learn of her inability to conceive until after a doctor's appointment in 2000. After relaying the event to Mulder, her partner reveals his prior knowledge of this fact, from the events of 1997. Scully decides that she wants a second opinion on whether or not her ova were viable.

Mulder gives the remaining ova which he had recovered over to Scully, who turns them in to Dr. Parenti for examination. After consulting with some of his colleagues, Dr. Parenti informs Scully that "using the proper approach" he believes that she had a good chance of getting pregnant, if they started immediately. He reminded her that she would obviously require a willing father and offered her genetic counseling on finding an anonymous donor but Scully declined the offer, and asked Mulder instead.

Mulder agreed to Scully's request, only hesitating slightly because he didn't want to disrupt the relationship between him and her.

At least one attempt failed. Mulder comforted Scully afterwards, and advised her not to stop hoping "for a miracle". (TXF: "Per Manum")

Shortly thereafter, Scully learned that she was indeed pregnant. As Mulder had gone missing and was believed to have been abducted, the first person Scully told was Assistant Director Walter Skinner. (TXF: "Requiem")

Question of Paternity

Although "all things" implies that Scully began a physical relationship with Mulder, it is unclear whether her pregnancy was as a result of their sexual interactions, if the original test provided a mistaken negative and the experiment was actually successful, or if there was a subsequent successful trial not referred to in the show.

Scully was unaware at the time, but Dr. Parenti and his colleagues were secretly using women patients as surrogate mothers for alien embryos (TXF: "Per Manum"), leading to her later suspicion that the child might not be entirely human.

There is some later suggestion that the child is not Mulder's child, nor an experiment, but indeed a miracle. Krycek calls the child a being that "could somehow be greater than [the aliens]. Something... more human than human." (TXF: "Essence"). Mulder takes this to mean that Krycek is implying divine conception.

Mulder himself expresses confusion about the precise nature of the conception (TXF: "Essence"), but he accepts paternity and refers to the child as "his son" (TXF: "The Truth").

Abilities

William is telekinetic (TXF: "Nothing Important Happened Today ")., but loses this power once his uncle injects him with magnetite (TXF: "William").

Thanks for starting this thread Neel. I meant to start it when I was working on the board index and noticed we didn't have one

I think there are a couple of other seasons missing an appreciation thread as well. Will check later and try and make some new threads for them
