:bump: Anyone watched any episodes recently? :)

I keep watching people on youtube recording themselves as they watch X-files for the first time and two of them have reached watching “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose”, so I liked that. One guy really didn’t like “Humbug” though :lol:

It seems like Humbug has maybe not aged very well for today’s viewers as it doesn’t seem that popular to people watching it for the first time now, maybe just because of the shock in seeing circus sideshow performers depicted when that was already starting to die out at the time that it aired, but I find the dislike of it as an episode curious because I always thought it was clear that it was coming down on the side of the circus people and how they shouldn’t be unfairly judged. Mulder and Scully did it with the perfectly nice Sheriff as soon as as they found out about his past as the dog face boy, even the viewer did it with the opening teaser when we think that the father is a monster about to attack the children just because of his appearance, the little person at the hotel had a whole rant about being pre-judged. I thought it was an episode with a lot of interesting things to say personally

Yeah, I can see younger people not liking the sideshow freaks being seen as that way. But there is the point about how we shouldn’t judge them by how they look, like that speech by the hotel manager about making assumptions about him or Mulder on their looks then their individuality (even if he was accurate about Mulder being an FBI agent :lol:) The guy who didn’t like it seemed like he wasn’t into the “humour” thing since that was the first humour episode of the series.

Ah okay, that makes sense, I actually forgot that it was the first ever humour episode that they did :lol: I know that there was a lot of concern at the time about how it might come across as them not taking the show seriously, but the writing is so great that I think it still totally works as a proper X-Files case

Me too, and I like the commentary about nature needing to keep mutating.

I have to think which episode I want to see next. I need to watch them in the theatre room where I have it on a large wall with surround sound, it makes a MOTW episode seem like a real mini movie :lol:
