Question: Sorry for another Lost question, but I need some answers from an insider. Do the writers of shows actually listen to what the fans say and change the direction of storylines based on the feedback? If so, where does that feedback come from? I'm absolutely terrified J.J. Abrams is going to try to run with this Kate/Jack romance that is so devoid of chemistry and so tiring that I roll my eyes and can't stand that they have somehow already advanced to cheesy embraces (as evidenced in the "Moth" episode). Am I and my friends who watch with me just imagining things when we find more heat between Kate and Sawyer, or even Sayid, than with Jack? I'd much rather see an extended (and I do mean extended — no hookups after 10 episodes) dance between Kate and Sawyer as opposed to this typical "the two leads are meant for each other and it was love at first sight" business that I'm afraid all the viewers might be falling for just because it's being shoved in our faces relentlessly. Kate's little rush to Jack's rescue and her exhausted hug afterwards was cheesy! What's your take? Am I imagining things? Is there any way to get Abrams to dump this Kate/Jack true-love garbage? — Suzanna Matt: I'm not much of a web lurker, but I've been told the "shippers" (as in "relationship-pers," for those not acquainted with the language of true TV nerd-dom) are mostly rooting for Kate and Sawyer-or-Sayid over Kate and Jack. Which seems typical but counterintuitive at this early stage of the show's life. Keep reminding yourself these characters have barely been on the island a week. Kate thought Jack had died in the cave-in (yes, that was a cheesy crisis, but still an excellent episode). If they sleep together soon, then I'd allow for the knickers-in-a-twist reaction. What the hell does he know? He said it himself. He's not much of a "web lurker." Most of the Lost forums I've been to are in the majority of Jack/Kate fans and have a decent amount of Kate/Sawyer fans, and I haven't seen really any Kate/Sayid fans!!

So I don't know what that guy is smoking!!!

I thought maybe I'd be able to post here as a J/K friendshipper and a hardcore K/Sawyer shipper, and vice versa at the Hooligan thread, but I'm thinking that's not going to be the case anymore. Can't we all just get along and be free to root for whoever we want, however we want? I'm so cheesy.

I love Matt Roush and I'm sorry to see he's not on board with Jack/Kate. Maybe he's just trying to be nice to the other shippers.

I haven't seen much interest in Kate/Sayid either: a few people in passing but no serious shipping.

jennarose Yeah, I changed the title. I didn't like "Linger" much, it's just I was listening to The Cranberries song at that time I was in need of a title. But I realized that Casey Stratton's "Hollow" went well with my fiction.

I don't care much about the whole Sawyer/Kate thing. I just don't care. Hehe.

beautifulgarbage I agree, we should all get along. Don't think you're along in thinking that you can't post. I don't think I'll be able to go to the Sawyer/Kate since it doesn't seem like I'm accepted. Truthfully, even in the Charlie/Claire thread. I feel ignored, then again I think it's because I'm hardly there. Amazing though that I just love Charlie/Claire. It's a more/equal to my love for Jack/Kate.

I just would like to say that I *really* appreciate that the Hooligans have so far completely ignored that stupid unappreciation thread. It proves to me that this board is how it seemed to me when I first lurked here. I guess we're all too mature for that kind of pettiness.

We should simply appreciate and accept what others agree with. Keep our personal dis-like towards whatever. Maybe we'll all break one day, like Jack when he realizes his true feelings for Kate and act upon it. Yay, I went from OT to the topic!

But I'd like to think that even if Kate decides that Sawyer is the love of her life, which I highly doubt, I wouldn't take it out on K/S shippers. Good for them you know. At least someone's happy.

And about that Matt thing, I don't know where he surfed but wherever I've lurked, which is pretty much everywhere, it's more 50/50 even some places have more J/K fans. So, um, I have no freaking idea what the dude is talking about.

Anyway, I could totally see Sawyer/Kate have a fling while Jack deals with his Daddy and Hero issues and then J/K have that meaningful, long-lasting relationship. I just can't imagine Kate and Sawyer being a lasting relationship. They don't fit that way.

And I agree that the fact that the Houligans have not posted at the unappreciation thread speaks a lot about their level of maturity! I think very highly of them!

I'd also agree that that would be a more accurate assessment.

On most boards, it's like you can only ship one couple. You have to choose. I could never do that with this show. Hell, I basically ship everybody with everybody, and that's not really much of an exaggeration.

ETA: Trisha, I am not affended at all. And, I'm sure none of the other Hooligans are either. Like so many of you have said, the majority of the people that are posting here seem to be the most mature posters at FF.

From what Ive seen on other boards there are too many people who are either hardcore or very against couples that it makes it hard for some people to post. Sometimes you just have to take everything with a grain of salt. I have a lot of friends who love K/S but its not gonna stop me for loving K/J.
I just wish there was a way to get rid of Anti threads...I don't think they are need at all.

Okay someone needs to make either pretty art or video of J/K! lol. I just wish there was more out there for this couple.

Catou Hehe. Well, everyone should have their own fun. Like if you were a Vaughn/Sydney shipper you'd be hated by the Sydney/Sark fans and even if I am a Vaughn/Sydney shipper, I always want the writers to give the other ships something to look forward for. Stuff like that there.
