And then people like Sayid keep picking on her -- dude, he was a torturer, I cannot be the only person who knows what torturers in the national guard did to women, can I? Funny thing is, we've watched those characters for so long -- the torturer, the murderers, the conman, the various psychos -- that we identify with them and root for them and think of them as the good guys, but in reality Juliet would be the one to trust.

And she's the prettiest.

Mmm...Sun may have something to say about that one.

You know, I hadn't given a whole lot of thought to Juliet's struggle early on with dealing with Jack. Until we got her backstory, we were meant to view her as completely untrustworthy, just like Benry. Having seen 'NIP', and the distorted relationship she had with her rat bastard, ex husband, her reaction to Jack in 'EMFH' makes so much more sense. He was questioning/mocking her position within the ranks of the 'Others' to simply being a waitress, and she took exception to that naturally. In fact, the look she shot him was down right deadly. Be careful Jack, this is not a woman you want to piss off, dude. She's already demonstrated that she can knock you out cold, so tread lightly, sweaty one.

So, yeah, I imagine it was a struggle for her not to feel for Jack, but at the same time, look for a way to help him, his friends, and herself. She took a big, calculated risk when she shot that video. And even after Jack basically screwed her over in the operatng room, she still set out to help him. So, yeah, she's earned his trust and some.

As far as Sayid goes, I can't really fault him or Sawyer for their mistrust. They had good reason not to believe her story, or put much faith in Jack. They had trusted Micheal, and look where that got them? Juliet wasn't talking. Jack wouldn't allow them to talk to her...it was a no win situation there.

As far as Kate goes, and what she wants from Jack...is like solve a math problem when you have no equation. Plus, minus, division, substraction...?

Yep. It was definitely a reflection of the problem going on within both camps.

Thing is, Juliet had her own agenda and could really care less about who was in charge or leading what. She wants off that island to get back to her sister, period.

Precisely. But I fear she won't be reunited with Rachel and is fated for a tragic end. You know, her name IS Juliet. Perhaps that's part of the reason why Jack is such a hot mess in the future. He made a promise to her and was unable to see it through because he made the call of doom on the island.

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't see Juliet being reunited with Rachel and Julian.

Given Jack's track record, I can see his tortured stated in the future being linked to a failed promise to Juliet, too.

I'd post this one on the Jate thread, because it does have a good deal of Jate in it, but I'm afraid they'd skin me alive for the ending. I, personally, find the ending hilarious (in a twisted sort of way), but I am very aware that my special brand of humour is not appreciated by everyone.

Juliet, terrified that she's going to remember her ordeals on the island every time she looks at Jack, rejects him - so he turns to Kate for comfort. Kate and Jack manage okay for a while, until Jack finds out Juliet is dating a man who works at Jack's hospital. Jack and Kate's life of make-believe shatters as a broken-hearted Jack descends into addiction and depression.
