I can't imagine why anyone would think that fans will keep tuning in to a show that gets you to liking their characters only to watch them be killed off one by one. That's sick. I'm going to start watching Lost but if they kill off Emilie, it'll be the last episode I watch.
If the producers really think this is the way to attract viewers, by suggesting that major characters will die, what kind of opinion do they have of television viewers? Let's see. They think we like to watch people we care about die. They think we want them to die in the most grisly way possible like getting eaten by some kind of monster or getting sucked into a plane engine (or does that count since we don't get attached to that character so he doesn't matter)? They think we'll be stupid enough to tune in the next week after they've just offed a young mother (does the baby have a grisly death too or do they draw a line somewhere?) I guess they must sit around and brainstorm about just how bloodthirsty the public really is. Maybe they're right. Maybe this is what the public likes. Maybe this is tweaking some people's curiosity but I'm beginning to not like this show and it hasn't even aired yet. |

I think the unpredictability is a double-edged sword. I do wonder if they're just teasing us, so we still feel the suspense even if the regulars are far from danger. After all, there's nothing more... deflating than watching, say, MacGyver in yet another life or death situation, but knowing he'll make it out alive anyway.
The crew probably has a pulse on who's popular among their characters. Emilie is obviously popular enough to be elevated to regular status, so I doubt they'd go through the trouble of doing that (AFTER the Pilot was completed, mind you) only to kill her off early on. I don't think they think that we want to see characters we care about die... but they do want to keep us on our toes. And I'm venturing into dangerous territory comparing this to a reality TV series, but think about it: Even if fan favorites of Survivor get voted off, people still tune in. That's gotta account for something. __________________

Then the other side is that killing off a main character is always a rating winner for the show. There is acliffhanger type thing happening in Australia at the moment on a local program and it has really gotten people to talk about the show trying to figure out which main character has been killed off and then when the show comes back after the Olympics there are going to be so many people tunning in to see who was the one that was killed. __________________

JJ got rid of Will & Francie on Alias & they were main characters. I really miss them too, but I still watch. I can't remember if he ever got rid of a main character on Felicity. If JJ were to get rid of Emilie, I don't know if I'd continue to watch the show or not. I think it depends on how much I like the show. __________________

If there's going to be a triangle with the "main couple" I think it's going to be more like Jack/Kate/Sawyer. Personally, I would like them to keep Claire away from all that.
On Felicity, I remember that they got rid of the Pink Ranger. I planned on watching Lost before I knew Emilie was involved and I'll probably keep watching if she were ever to bite it (I hope it never gets to that though). I don't think I can get angry about it when TPTB from the very beginning have said not to assume regulars are safe. Unless, of course, they have a storyline stressing how important it is that she be around or else it's the end of the world. Then promptly turn around at the end of the season and send her shooting off into space. That would make me angry. Ooooh, yay! Cast pictures with Emilie, y'all! Credit to ^cloud^. I'd be shocked if they killed off Jack. That would be a jaw dropper! Oh, Julie on Felicity. Now I remember her. Yea, she was a main member & left. I wasn't a fan of her. I think TPTB will prob make Claire's main focus her child. They prob won't give her any kind of romantic pairing until (5?) seasons in. If she makes it to season 5 *crosses fingers*. Thanks ^cloud^ for the pics __________________

Oh I like the new cast photo's... although she's so little in the back. But I guess that's because she's the last memeber to join the cast. Hey at least she's in these photo's. __________________

And let's hope Lost actually makes it to a 5th season. __________________

Xan, you're serious. If they kill off Jack then anyone can go. who would become the main character if he left? how did they almost kill him off? if it's spoilers you can PM me.
It would be nice to see someone bond with Claire & her kid. I wonder who she'll be closest to on the island. __________________

If they killed Claire off I don't think I'd watch the show... or maybe I would, it depends on how much I like the show.
I mean, I continued to watch Roswell after the took her out. I just hope they don't do something really awfull to her. I mean, for all we know, the baby could die in childbirth or something. That would be absolutely cruel, you know? With this kind of show, considering we haven't seen it yet, and we don't know what the characters are like yet, the possibilites of what could happen, to any of them, is endless. Roswell wasn't the same without Emilie. I watched it, but I felt like it was a waste for UPN to pick it up.
so, do you hope Claire has a boy or girl? __________________

I'd like Claire to have a girl. But if she had a boy, what would she name him, seeing as how in a previous life she named the son after his father?
I'm also curious what the story is going to be about the father. Since he's not on board, the show might have Claire being faithful to him and trying not to get involved with anyone else. I can't quite imagine Emilie de Ravin in a part where no one is attracted to her. Even with a survival wardrobe, she's too beautiful for that to be believable. |

I think if the story is that Claire was going to meet the father, she will stay faithful to him. If he was sending her away, then there's no reason to stay faithful.
I have no idea what she'll name her son/daughter. Maybe Jack or Jackie????? __________________

Looking at the pictures, she doesn't have a wedding ring on. So if she's married it's not in the "traditional" sense. Emilie described Claire as a free-spirited girl. From that I get the impression Claire isn't all that attached to Baby's Daddy.
If we do get to see the father of the baby, though, I'm hoping he looks like David Anders. The sex of the baby is actually implied in the pilot episode. Dunno if y'all want to get spoiled for it or not. |

Well, judging by Damon Lindelof's comments (mostly on our interview with him), romance probably wouldn't be the first thing on Emilie's mind. Survival, of course, would be her primary focus, both her own and the baby's.
I can't wait for her flashback episode. __________________
