The Faux C?
Hey guys. Since North Shore is not airing this week I was thinking of ways we can keep discussions going. I was watching VH1's Best Week Ever last month and several of the commentators on the show reference North Shore as "The Faux C" imitating the The O.C. For weeks before the premiere many people especially here at Fan Forum kept saying that NS was a copy but now the show has aired several episodes... What do you guys think?

I don't think it is a copy of The O.C. at all. Actually I think North Shore is more like 'Las Vegas' than The O.C. myself. I've was bored on Monday without North Shore.

At first when I heard about North Shore the first thing that came to mind was the O.C, but after watching it its not like the O.C at all. The only similairty is that it takes place on the beach, but the plot and characters are completly different. The O.C is more like a teen drama.

I think it's funny how everyone said the North Shore was a copy of The O.C. just because Amanda was on both before Navi Rawat decided to drop NS. But other then that I see no similarities what-so-ever.

I really see no similarity, ok is it because I haven't really watched the OC? I guess, but OC and OTH is more similar than these two. But then even if it was like the same show (which I totally don't think it is) who cares? Romeo and Juliet was a copy of the Greek Myth Pyramus and Thisbe, but look at how much of a hit Romeo and Juliet is.
Only similarities would really be, drama, on fox, and both have Amanda on their shows, but nothing more too my point of view. __________________

It's funny that you mentioned One Tree Hill. Chad Michael Murray was orginally offered the role of Ryan before they casted Benjamin MacKenzie.

And that show's how much I know about the OC, or just about CMM's job offers. I kind of feel like I'm the only person that doesn't watch OC, well beside my other friends, beside this one that's my best, just not best best...ok confused. What do I know about OC, some stuff, I watched two episodes, the V-day party thing and the last one, and I don't get it still, but oh well.
Anyways, back to topic...someone else get back on topic for us. __________________

The OC is addictive but I'm not suffering from any withdraws. Um, back on topic? Well, I was kinda of suprised that a lot of the reviews were solely based on the pilot. They used some pretty cool camera tricks that did resemble Las Vegas and then all of sudden they stopped. That irked me because it made the show stand out a bit. And I would really love it with they de-emphasized the personal relationships and focus more on the "problem of the day at the hotel".

North Shore is only superficially like the OC, people were saying it was like Melrose Place to the OC's 90210 ... or something like that. I'm honestly way more into the OC. Both shows are addictive, but the OC is soemthing I'm into overall, while a lot of times I feel like rolling my eyes during North Shore. I obviously like the show enough to post here though and am interested enough in the storylines to look past some of the cornier moments.
Anyway, the fact that these are adults and they're the working class surrounded by money rather than money themselves, the nature of their problems--I think all that is handled differently than on the OC. __________________

I could understand where people would get that idea since the OC and Northshore have a lot of the same people working in the crew. But the OC is also kind of an imitation of dramas such as Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place too.

Yes I totally agree with what you guys are saying at first glance I can see why people would think that it is like the faux O.C. , but once you actually watch it you immedately see that they are nothing alike. The atmosphere of the two shows are also totally different.

And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night."

You know, North Shore actually reminds me of Melrose Place now that I started thinking about it. I love MP before it got way to ridiculous.
