Since Amy and Dan didn’t stay after season 6 I don’t think Milo would’ve wanted to stay either after that cause it seems like he only wants to be involved if they’re involved from interviews

No, since the spin off never happened they never said what exactly the show would be about in detail just it would be Jess and his Dad. But every show about a late teen early 20’s had a love interest for the main character. If the show went multiple seasons it would have at one point I think paired him with someone. Also if the spin off did happen would they have had Jess come back in season 4? Would he have gone all the way from CA to CT to get a car if things were going well in CA?

I'm guessing he would have gone to get his car to allow the shows to do crossovers which would have been profitable and boosted viewership for both of the shows.

Depending on the storylines Luke, Lorelai and Rory could have also appeared in the spinoff and generate more crossovers etc.

Not too sure about crossovers but if we’re talking about AU headcanons that Rory and Luke go to see him in California then maybe

I have read fanfic where that happens

I think the intent of Jess and Rory at least on the original series was always to show that Jess would have not gotten over Rory in the original series regardless of whether or not the spin-off happened

That love confession in the middle of the town square would happen every time the way Amy wrote it

So no I don’t see them giving him any serious love interest outside of Rory

the way I see season 1 of the spin-off going is probably taking completely in California with Jess leaving to go back to the east coast near the middle of the season and getting his car

Jess would be back living in New York

I think he’s living in New York in an apartment with other guys in season 4 of the original show

We would see him starting to write his novel

And then he would find his way to meeting the guys that work at the book press and publishing his novel during what I would say would be season 2 and 3 of the spin-off show

The one positive thing about the spin-off if it had happened would definitely be being able to see the process of Jess writing his novel and finding his way to the book press

But then again ironically why the reveal that he’s written a book works so well when he returns in season 6 the first time is because we don’t see him write it onscreen

You don't do a spinoff without intending to cross over with the "mother" show. That's where the money is at. People have to watch at least a few episodes of both to stay in the loop.

That’s mostly true

For like Buffy and Angel though for example I personally don’t think people necessarily have to watch both to enjoy or understand either show

It depends how much the crossovers rely on past events. You need to have watched Buffy to know what's up when she shows up on Angel. Otherwhise you're like who is this random chick lol. Same goes for Darla.
