Deppisms (Favorite JD Quotes): Words Have Never Been Sexier

~*~THE JOHNNY DEPP QUOTES THREAD~*~

'Sup everybody!

I was on a creative roll and I couldn't resist making another thread, so -- here it is!

These quotes happen to be some of my faves:

JACK: "A wedding! I love weddings...drinks all around!"

JACK: "The man who did the waking buys, the man who was sleeping, a drink. The man who was sleeping drinks it while listening to a proposition from the man who did the waking."

ROUX: "I'll be by later to get that squeak out your door."

Go Johnny!!

Okay guys -- your turn.

**NOTE**: I failed to make this open to all forms of Johnny speech, so if you got a quote, and he said it, bring it here!

Jack Sparrow: "Elizibeth's safe, like I promised. She's all set to marry Norington, like she promised, and you get to die for her, like you promised. So we're all men of our word, really, except for Elizibeth, who is, in fact, a woman." :tounge:

Agent Sands: "Can you here me know? *****in' bells!"

Sam (Benny & Joon): It's a shame about raisens...(the raisen thing)

Ed Wood: "Perfect!!!!!"

These quotes are said by Johnny himself

Anything I've done up till 27 May 1999 was kind of an illusion, existing without living. My daughter, the birth of my daughter, gave me life.

"You use your money to buy privacy because during most of your life you aren't allowed to be normal." - on the money he makes.

"I don't pretend to be captain weird. I just do what I do."

"One of the most incredible moments I've ever had was sitting in Vincent [Price]'s trailer...I was showing him this first-edition book I have of the complete works of Poe--with really amazing illustrations. Vincent was going nuts over the drawings, and he started talking about The Tomb of Ligeia. Then he closed the book and began to recite it to me in this beautiful voice, filling the room with huge sounds. Such passion! I looked in the book later, and it was verbatim. Word perfect. It was a great moment. I'll never forget that."

"The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants."

I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots.

"America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive. My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."

"Taken in context, what I was saying was that, compared to Europe, America is a very young country and we are still growing as a nation. It is a shame that the metaphor I used was taken so radically out of context and slung about irresponsibly by the news media. There was no anti-American sentiment. In fact, it was just the opposite. I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it. It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful."

"France, and the whole of Europe have a great culture and an amazing history. Most important thing though is that people there know how to live! In America they've forgotten all about it. I'm afraid that the American culture is a disaster."

Captain Jack Sparrow is like a cross between Keith Richards and Pepe Le Pew.

"I can remember when I finished Edward Scissorhands, looking in the mirror as the girl was doing my make-up for the last time and thinking, it was like the 90th or 89th day of shooting and I remember looking and going 'Wow, this is it. I'm saying goodbye to this guy, I'm saying goodbye to Edward Scissorhands.' You know, it was kind of sad. But in fact, I think they're all still somehow in there."

"With any part you play, there is a certain amount of yourself in it. There has to be, otherwise it's just not acting. It's lying."

The only gossip I'm interested in is things from the Weekly World News - 'Woman's bra bursts, 11 injured'. That kind of thing.

I'm an old-fashioned guy...I want to be an old man with a beer belly sitting on a porch, looking at a lake or something.

[When asked by James Lipton on "Inside The Actor's Studio" what attracts him to funny hats] "I don't know, maybe I just read too much Dr. Suess as a kid."

[After being asked if he is a romantic] "Am I a romantic? I've seen Wuthering Heights ten times. I'm a romantic."

These ones are from movies:

Sam: Thanks for the couch. Um... Mike made me sleep under the sink. (Benny and Joon)

Edward D. Wood, Jr.: Why if I had half a chance, I could make an entire movie using this stock footage. The story opens on these mysterious explosions. Nobody knows what's causing them, but it's upsetting all the buffalo. So, the military are called in to solve the mystery. (Ed Wood)

Edward D. Wood, Jr.: It's not a monster movie. It's a supernatural thriller. (Ed Wood)

[At the "Plan 9" premiere.]
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: This is the one. 'This' is the one I'll be remembered for. (Ed Wood)

I'd get more, but I can't be bothered
Enjoy!

"I pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion just because of the expressionist leaves on my face."

"Trips to the dentist-- I like to postpone that kind of thing "

"It's all kinds of these profound things crashing on you when your child arrives into the world. It's like you've met your reason to live."

"I am doing things that are true to me. The only thing I have a problem with is being labeled."

"Oh yeah. I play Barbies all the time..."

"I'm not 'Blockbuster Boy.' I never wanted to be. I wasn't looking for that."

"It's nice to play a character that isn't that close to yourself."

"Fear... Fear... Utter fear. Clowns! Clowns scare me."

"I have this sneaking suspicion that somewhere, somehow, when directors bring my name up, the studio executives go, 'Oh, no - the guy who fancies himself a character actor! The weird guy!'"

"The beauty, the poetry of the fear in their eyes. I didn't mind going to jail for, what, five, six hours? It was absolutely worth it."

"I'm shy, paranoid, whatever word you want to use. I hate fame. I've done everything I can to avoid it."

"If someone were to harm my family or a friend or somebody I love, I would eat them. I might end up in jail for 500 years, but I would eat them."

"When kids hit 1 year old, it's like hanging out with a miniature drunk. You have to hold onto them. They bump into things. They laugh and cry. They urinate. They vomit."

"This is a rumor-filled society and if people want to sit around and talk about whom I've dated, then I'd say they have a lot of spare time and should consider other topics...or masturbation."

Thank you! Those two are the best!

I was watching PotC last night, and again, my favourite quotation from it is:

Norrington: "Well, well, Jack Sparrow, isn't it?"
Jack: "Captain Jack Sparrow, if you please."
Norrington: "Well I don't see your ship, Captain."
Jack: "I'm in the market... as it were."

That and when Elizabeth drops and he's saying "And then they made me their chief."

I like that one myself.

Some more notable sayings:

To Charlie Rose: "I'm floating... I've never, ever in my life - I haven't lived before that day. I was not alive. I existed. I imagine that I drew breath and exhaled and all that stuff, but I don't have any particularly fond memories of it. I mean, I don't think I took a real breath until my daughter was born."

"I read that I was in bed with her, which is a ton of ****. I have met her and it went like this: 'How do you do?' 'Hello, how are you?' Now when anyone asks about my affair with Madonna I say no, wrong - it was the Pope. He swept me off my feet."

"I have a funny relationship with my body...Ah, it sounds so stupid, but for me there shouldn't be any half way."

"I'm a good smoker; a good driver; not a bad drinker; and an excellent sleeper - the four things I do best in life. I love smoking. I've been doing it for years. Never even thought about giving it up. I roll my own: Drum tobacco. A scummy Hollywood gossip columnist once said I was obviously a dangerous character because I spoke up for legalisation of marijuana and rolled my own cigarettes. You gotta watch out for the guys who roll their own cigarettes. Stay away from those boys."

"Nah (about quiting smoking). I think if you find something your good at you sould stick with it. I have switched to lights though. It got to where I would weeze going up a flight of stairs, so I went to diet cigarettes."

More later. And Johnny m'love...you're friggin' brilliant.

Got some more Deppisms :

"I haven't read a magazine in years. I don't know who anybody is. I don't know who's winning awards or not winning awards. I don't know anything about the industry. And I'm really, really happy."

"I never really understood why I was so drawn to France, and then I went over there to do a movie called 'The Ninth Gate,' met my girl (Vanessa Paradis), and never left."

"France gives me the opportunity to have a simple life. I can go to a tiny cafe not far from my house and just sit there, sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes."

"I can't believe I work as much as I do because it's hard for me to leave my house. I'm surrounded by so much beauty. The most I've been separated from my family is 17 days. And after 17 days, I was ready to chew my own hand off."

"I just don't want to look back in 30 or 40 or 50 years and have my grandkids say, 'You did a lot of stupid ****,Granddad. What an idiot you were, smiling for the cameras and playing the game.'"

"Anything I've done up 'til May 27, 1999, was kind of an illusion, existing without living. My daughter, the birth of my daughter, gave me life."

I love all of those, but esp. the last one...so cute...
