What I know right now...

I want to tell everyone what I know, from Jonathan Prince and from members of the crew. So this is what I know right now...

Everyone has heard the news/rumor that American Dreams has been canceled. You've read it on news sites, message boards, and official sites for the AD cast. This is the information that I have, straight from Jonathan Prince, the show's creator...

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is official yet. It doesn't look good right now, but NOTHING IS OFFICIAL. We still need to show NBC how much American Dreams means to us, and tell them why they MUST bring our show back.

Just because you read it on CNN or AOL or Yahoo doesn't mean that's the final word. That article went out of the AP wire, and everyone picked up the exact same article. The article even stated that NBC has not confirmed it.

Arlen's, Brittany's and Rachel's webmasters have announced the cancellation news on their sites. They have heard the news straight from the source, BUT- let me tell you what they have been told. They were told that the chances of the show coming back are VERY SLIM. BUT- NBC could still change their minds before mid-May. This is in no way over. Stranger things have happened. This is not just my opinion. This was told to me by members of the crew.

We are still asking NBC to keep our show... it is not the time to write, "You people are idiots," or "I'll never watch NBC again!" We need to persuade them to keep the show, not berate or insult them.

I will continue to post more whenever I hear anything.

Please continue to follow these suggestions. Postcards will be most helpful, but do ALL of them.

Remember that nothing official has been declared. We still have a chance. In other words, it's not over until the fat lady sings. The fat lady may be warming up, but she ISN'T SINGING YET!!!

Once NBC does announce something to the public, we really have nothing else to do. So please, let's at least go out fighting.

Use every form of communication you can think of. Just imagine if all day on Monday and Tuesday, their phone lines, emails, mail boxes, fax lines, etc... are all filled with messages from AD fans. They would be overwhelmed.

KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE

Write a postcard, (or 50 postcards!) to NBC President Kevin Reilly

Call NBC: (212) 664-4444 Ask to leave a comment about American Dreams.

Write emails to NBC: AmericanDreams@nbcuni.com

Money talks. It sucks, but it's true. So:

Ok I have a few questions for you, so why are you saying that Arlen's, Brittany's and Rachel's webmasters heard news that there was a very slim change? Did you talk to their webmasters? I just find it really odd for 3 actors who had a contract with NBC all post that they were told on the same day from their sources that it was CANCELED. Also why would they post false information when they receieved their information from the stars or the star's publisist. Here is the exact posting on Arlen's site saying that is was OFFICIALLY canceled. "[04.29.05]
- SOME SAD NEWS -
We have received the official news that American Dreams has been canceled." Don't you think that perhaps the stars are told before the general public?

Yes, they are most definitely told before the general public. But don't you think the creator/producer of the show knows more about the network politics than they do? I am not just starting a crusade by myself, I have talked directly to Jonathan Prince. I'm not just making this up.

They cast were told that it is probably canceled, and there is only a slim chance of renewal, but NBC has not yet made their final decision. Rather than bemoan the fact that NBC are idiots, wouldn't fans rather at least keep trying until we hear it's finally over?

I'm going to get a couple of more Postcards and send them to Johnathan Reilley in the hope that AD gets renewed for a fourth season. Even if it's the last season at least this way Johnathan Prince can tie up any loose ends.

Look at this way, Family Guy is coming back tonight because it was so popular on DVD. The same could happen to American Dreams. Well at least become popular enough in e-mails and postcards that it's renewed.

Yeah, I guess if we do an onslaught of mail we might still have a tiny chance.

Sorry, but my optimism is slowly starting to disappear.

Don't let your optimism disappear until NBC gives us the last word!

Make your optimism hold out, just for one more week!

Is there any chance that another network could pick it up? I heard that NBC is loading their schedule with stupid reality shows. I guess a show depicting real history & can teach something was too much for them.

I personally think it would've done better if it had been with CBS. When it started, NBC was too into their stupid reality shows/"must-see TV" to promote it.

I'm really hoping another network will pick it up...you know maybe even the WB...the ratings it gets now would do GREAT There, and teh WB did take Grounded For Life from Fox, so it could do this with American Dreams. I was almost in tears because i thought that we still had a chance....I'm gonna get writing if i ever have the chance!

Yeah, I know. It's so annoying how they practically only show reality tv now. I hate it.
