Episode Discussion: "Drive, He Said" (12/05/03)

Believing he’s pulling over a local judge for a traffic violation, Will instead encounters a murderous parolee on the run who forces him at gun point to drive the stolen vehicle. Meanwhile, God tells Joan to finally face the driving exam she’s been putting off and encourages her to drive on a regular basis.

Discuss away.

OK, another episode I was over. This show is so good. I felt bad for Jason Ritter bcz he had to be thinnking about his own dad during some of the scenes...especially towards the end.

This eppy was amazing!! It went from one emotion to the next, It has to be my second fave eppy yet!! Didn't like the fact hardly any Jane/Adan but Luke OMG he was too funny!! Somebody please give that kid more coffee!! Heck buy him a starbucks!! "why are you listening so fast?" I love the way his mind works, he was just to cute, trying to talk to Adam, all protective over Joan, or in the car he's yelling don't stop go around him. :lol

But poor Jason having to do that storyline tonight For once i really like Will's story and how it tied in.

Very good episode. I had my friend watch it with me and she was teary eyed at the end!

I just love how God asks Joan to do things and then we can see the greater purpose in it.

I can totally understand Joan not wanting to get her liscene. Heck I have it and I'm still scared to drive and noone I know has been in a major accident.

The police stuff didn't bother me as much as usual. Though it was really sad with the guy and Will. Its too bad he did end up having to die

Luke was really funny tonight. I can't believe he thought Joan was pregnant! My brother would have gone balistic on me. Luke helping Joan get up after the math thing was so cute. Very sweet of him to talk to Adam like that

One thing I didn't like was the little to no interaction of Joan/Adam. They need a good conversation to fix this mess they are in.

Tonight was the first time I watched this show, and I have to say that I really loved it. Luke is hilarious with his coffee. and thinking that Joan was pregnaut. It waa cute how he tried to help.

I felt bad for Kevin in this episode. But I loved his last scene with Will. And yeah it much have been hard for Jason to do those scenes. But he did an amazing job in this ep.

Yay! A Joan eppie thread! ::adores::

Ugh, anyway, I'm happy to report that the cliche is alive and well. Really! I'm only being a little bit sarcastic. When in the history of television has a woman not taken a home pregnancy test, thrown it in the trash only to have someone find it and think it's someone else's?

But since it was funny and because Luke assumed that the baby would be Adam's, I'll forgive that.

Also, adored that Joan didn't deny that what she and Adam had going was "intense". Even when they're fighting I'm a happy shipper. This show may just be the death of me.

Uh... None Adam/Jane notes... hm... Oh, God got B-plot! Well, sort of since the plots tend to get all mixy on this show. But they didn't make the episode about her doing what God said. In fact, Joan pretty much got B-plot because this episode was all Luke and Will.

eh, that's all I can think of right now.

Hello everyone, Im brand new to the forum, and this is my very first post

I absolutly love this show, as Im sure all of you do, thats why were here

I have a question about tonights episode, does anyone know who was singing the song, normally they show the cd and who was singing at the end of the episode, but I didnt see it, or they forgot tonights.

I think the lyrics were "I'll let your smile comfort me"
Thank You!!

Warning, real long post b/c I have comments

Why can't I have a younger brother like Luke? Yet again, this boy amazes me! I don't know whether to encourage or discourage him from drinking coffee I've got a math problem for him:
Luke + coffee = JoA viewers

Countrybumpkin I love your siggy! Luke just delivered some of the best lines tonight! And I loved how protective he was of Joan and her "situation" (or lack thereof) and trying to patch things up between Joan and "the assumed father of her assumed baby"... aka Adam Rove. And yes, I too adore the fact that Joan will not deny how "intense" her and Adam's relationship is.

I can relate to Joan's anxiety over driving. We all need to drive sometime, but sometimes it's hard not to wonder of the probabilities over accidents and such... which was always a flaw of mines.

I'm really glad that Joan still has Grace to talk to. I knew that Grace couldn't be mad at Joan for long... now we just need to work on Adam.

Oh! My heart strings were pulled tonight! The scene where Toni visits the school and Helen sees her, that look on her face! It's one of those moments where being married to an officer just hits you, y'know? I guess to be more clear, that scene w/ Helen reminded me of one of the scenes to the movie "We Were Soldiers". The whole yellow cabbie carrying the telegram kind of thing. That look on Helen's face and when she broke down... I had gotten chills.

And the last scene w/ Kevin and his dad. When Will said "That's my boy"... My gawd, drama!

I'm glad to see the boat skeleton (from eppie "The Boat") still in the garage. This show definitely has a fine eye for continuity.

And that's all I could think of... told ya it'd be a long post! This is minus any comments I have towards the preview of the next JoA eppie.

Awww... *pats on shoulder* I'm sure that it'll show again in reruns. Especially, hopefully, after the season finale.

I thought this was a very good ep also. I agree with some of you that I like it how God asks Joan to do something that we later will see the result of it. The thing I like about this show is it's not really religous as you think it might be. I would like to see a story arc to where it spreads over several episodes. But overall, I think this show is really good and worth watching.

I didn't love last night's episode as much as the others. There was a lot of it that felt very cheesy - and I have a low tolerance for cheese. The hostage thing I DEFINITELY could have done without. I'm really sick of these stupid Pa Girardi plotlines. Let's see more Joan, more Adam, more Luke. It's not like there was any chance they were gonna kill off Will, so who the heck cares?

I loooooved Luke in this ep, though. He's just...great. Can he switch places with my brother? And can it get any better than "He's got a chainsaw!!"?

Ohh, Adam. Sniff. I wish there were more of him in the ep. Liked the conversation with Luke.
