Well, all of the stuff that I imagined them doing they actually did in season 5 and 6. Season 5 is when they did most of the dirty stuff, before they actually became official.

I always knew they'd end up like this from the moment I saw that scene where Betty's father forced her to bury Archie in a coffin. Even though she was with Jughead at the time, and he and Veronica were on and off, there was just... something.

The pie scene definitely ranks up for most explicit for me along with the season 5 car and shower scenes

It was definitely inevitable that their relationship would’ve been explored more at the very least after season 1 because of the legacy that relationship holds in the comics

It's great to hear Lili say that after her earlier comments that Barchie weren't gonna happen back in the earlier seasons. I wonder if she meant that or if this was always the plan? Or did her relationship and breakup with Cole affect things?

Idk personally from what I’ve seen in old interviews she’s always been open to the idea but like more open now after you’re probably right - real life events

But in terms of the show itself I think this was always the plan even from the pilot the way it was written

I’m personally not a fan of the couple after season 1 on One Tree Hill that apparently was also planned endgame from the first episode but it’s like that too

Yeah, I do think it was a combination of what the show had planned from the beginning, and what happened in real life with Lili that led to where Barchie is now.
