I think Hal made Alice have an abortion because he got her pregnant out of wedlock. That was certainly the impression that was given in Episode 9.
It's still possible that F.P. and Alice do have a mutual past in the Serpents, though. __________________

Well it seems one of the writers who wrote episode ten has a Tumblr. And after someone asked them about Alice/FP, their reply was they was a little surprised by just HOW MUCH chemistry those two had.
