Richard Davies appreciation and discussion
So, I know Richard is evil and all that, but I think he as a character is just fascinating, especially in season 2. There are all these untapped dynamics between him and his kids, not to mention him and Jack or how his marriage went down, and I think a lot of that merits some serious discussion.
To get the ball rolling, I have a few thoughts. - Richard and Meredith. Anyone else think it's interesting that she went down the same path professionally as him? They're both lawyers, and from what I can gather, they both do criminal defence, which is a pretty specialised area. - Richard and Harrison. Now by the end of season 2, it became quite clear that Richard was priming Harrison to follow in his footsteps in some way. Would that include working for his side eventually? Or is he just trying to pull Harrison away from Tru? And if Richard is priming Harrison for his side, how would Jack fit into this tight father/son dynamic? And oh my god, episode 2x06 - what does that prove? That Richard is capable of killing Harrison if he has to? - Richard and Elise Davies. Why did he order a hit on her? Was it really necessary? It seems to tie in with the larger aspect of the calling and how the whole thing works; I have my own theories on this, but I would love to know what other people thought about it. Get with the evil!Richard appreciation! __________________

See, I always thought that he got her killed because that was the only way to get rid of his own Calling. That would explain why he had to kill her; he was getting sick of all the rewinds and there was no way to stop it unless one of the pair dies. Then the Calling could just pass onto a couple of other people.
I wonder if she knew about him being what he was, though. Was that why they got divorced? Or was it something else entirely, not supernatural but just involving an affair with Jordan and whatnot. It makes a certain amount of sense if she didn't know what he was, because I can't see her not telling Tru/her children about it if she knew her husband was that dangerous and would go to lengths to kill them. __________________
