^ Oh gosh yes See, this is a huge reason why I'm anti-Naley. The writing for Nathan just went in the trash when his world revolved around her. The fact they edited stuff in the time capsule for him AND for Brooke is just so noticeable. I remember thinking "James didn't have a bald head the first time" and "Sophia looks thinner"

I think heavens that they didn't bring back Bryan to add something for that video just to ruin his character

Yeah, them changing Brooke's video really bugged me too, as he deciding to flash the camera was unrelated to what she originally saying completely! It took such a turn & took away from the really sweet message she was actgually giving

The change for Brooke's speech was disturbing I hate that they just added something to make her seem shallow again.

I wanted Peyton watching Jake's time capsule to actually impact her character for the better, but all the writers did was use it to remind us that Jake is gone and she'd eventually start turning to her Lucas obsession again

I love that people are still inspired to make these, even years after the show has ended. Really shows fan commitment and the love people have for these characters

It's definitely great to know that people haven't given up on this couple just because they didn't end up together. We need to stick together and celebrate the times in OTH when these characters were written well and dating the people who made sense for them

Same here. A huge part of me will always be bitter and upset, but now I just try to look back and enjoy the scenes from seasons 1-3 that I couldn't enjoy right after leaving the show behind. When they broke up Brucas and Jeyton I literally couldn't continue watching OTH but years later, I have re-watched some scenes and it's not as painful anymore... Because I know they SHOULD have stayed together, regardless of what some later seasons tried to shove down our throats.

I have watched the later seasons, just for vidding purposes & to make manips, & it is like a different show, with the way they try to rewrite history

But I still have the satisfaction of knowing the brucas & jeyton had the better writing, chemistry, everything

I honestly couldn't stomach carrying on with the show after season 3. I watched some of season 4 and literally everything - hairstyles, scripts, performances - made me cringe.

Nothing felt genuine anymore. Some of it was definitely related to Chad and Sophia's divorce. There was also other stuff like the fact that they never brought Jake back or even MENTIONED him again As if Schwahn knew that he wanted fans to forget him and embrace Leyton.

Season 4 was like a different show, even the little things like you said - like the way the characters looked & dressed was jarringly different

I'm glad he never brought Jake back, because he probably just would have tried to make him look bad like they did Brooke

Yeah they definitely went out of their way to make Peyton cheating with Lucas acceptable by introducing a fake backstory of Brooke and Nathan's sex tape

And speaking as a Brathan shipper, I was VERY angry it just mocked whatever type of real connection the writers could have built between them post-season 2.

I agree that Jake's characterization would have been slaughtered upon a return. But things couldn't get much worse to be honest, once Peyton reverted to speaking about Lucas as if Jake never existed.
