The girls apparently believe that Lucas was Mark's fantasy version of him, if that's true, then he must've liked him too. He just gave him crappy storylines.

Also thought that Nathan was Mark's fantasy version of himself tbh, especially considering how often we saw girls throw themselves at Nathan while he was married.

Feel like they just said that to justify their takes on Lucas in S1.

Why wouldn't Mark like Lucas? And girls were "throwing themselves" at Lucas too, especially what Peyton did in S5... no girl ever was like that with Nathan. He was his leading character, and his beloved girl - Peyton was meant to be with Lucas from the beginning. I doubt he would pair her with someone he didn't like.
I've always got this weird feel that Mark made Peyton to be so desperate for Lucas, because Hilarie wouldn't have him. And making her character so sad and desperate for a man - who was a fantasy version of him - was his response for Hilarie rejecting him. This is so skeevy, but Mark was such a sleazy person, that I believe this is possible.

I'm not saying Lucas had great storylines. But the show centered around him, he was the "glue" that held everything together. Mark made it that way and I doubt he would do that for a character he didn't like.

What I meant what was that Nathan had multiple girls throwing themselves at him when he was with Haley, whereas Lucas only had Peyton and then no one when he was dating Peyton.

Mark and Chad never seemed to get along either, which I'm sure influenced how Lucas got written at times as well. Especially considering that Hilarie said last year that Chad stood up for her and got treated poorly because of it.

All of the girls looked pretty desperate in the love lifes at different times tbh.

Haley was just much as glue as Lucas in that regard imo and Mark clearly didn't like her either.
