Not when you're desperate and trying to act quickly to protect him.

Still better ways though.

Not in that situation when you need to act fast.

Still could have avoided doing in an backhanded way, since their plan involved ruining Naley's marriage without revealing they were the reason why.

Which makes sense because Nathan would go against her to spite her if he knew. As far as she was concerned, to protect her son, she didn't have a choice.

And he wouldn't if he ever found out about it?

Given time he would likely have realised she was right and saw it as the right thing.

I doubt that tbh.

No idea why, seeing as that is what happens in real life all the time. Parents make decisions that their kids don't agree with at the time but eventually see is the right thing. It's the natural order. Part of growing up.

I just don't really see him getting past his parents ruining his relationship with Haley, regardless of how much he grew up.

He would have if the relationship didn't work out, and there was a very good chance that it wouldn't.

It's pretty clear that they would have worked out in the end and if it didn't, Nathan would have regressed back to the way he was in early season 1.

No it wasn't, they were kids. It wasn't clear at all that it would work out, it was far more likely that it wouldn't, especially because of the pressures they were putting on themselves.

Their marriage might not have worked out, but I just don't see NH not ending up together in the long run. If they didn't, Nathan would have regressed back to the way he was before he met her and that version of him would have never seen that Dan and Deb were acting in his best interests.

He didn't have to regress just because they weren't together. She showed him there was another way, not being with her wouldn't make him forget that at all, and pretty much all kids see that as they grow up...
