[Episode Discussion] 4x14 - "Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers"
 

My review of the ep:

Loved
Nothing!

Liked:
* NB friendship scene outside (I do enjoy BN scenes and I just block out the contrived out of their asses sex-tape storyline that would follow) this scene was good as the past BN scenes have been.

* Rachel doing something selfless.

Hated
* Brooke lying to Haley.
* Chase with his cheesy lines. This guy is as much fun watching as a rock. Go away!
* Brooke having to walk in on LP getting it on.

Loathed
* LP making out all the ****ing time. Enough! I will not survive if I have to see this going on in every episode. And please stop giving away BL trademarks to this couple before I strangle someone!

* The sex-tape storyline coming from nowhere.

ok since I didn't get to post in the last thread..

- NB..Finally a scene!! the sprinklers scene was the BEST.
the sex tape was HOT, but I was too worried about Brooke.
- I love Rachel and I love her friendship with Brooke, it's probably been the only constant this season.
I hope she gets to graduate with everyone.
- Haley was great! she should fight more often. even though I LOVE Rachel, Haley throwing the drink was priceless.
- The music was surprisingly good.
- The BP scene was sweet, just when they were making progress this happens.

ICA, this needs to stop.

I have not seen the whole ep yet so I'm gonna comment on what I've seen...

Brooke/Peyton - Peyton's the sweetest person ever. I loved that scene. So much tension, awkwardness...but longing. Longing for their best friend.

Haley hitting Rachel - GO HALEY! Love.Her.

Haley/Skills - When Lucas is off making out with his girlfriend and Nathan is doing sex tapes, Skills is always there to protect and be there for her. Love them.

Nathan/Peyton - "That's my baby." Loved the kiss! They were so sweet and perfect.

Nathan/Brooke - The water fight? Most adorable thing this whole season. I love their friendship and I loved their little bonding. Nathan looking out for Brooke is LOVE. And the sex tape...I know they'll get crap for that, but it was the hottest thing ever! But I just wanted to hug Brooke at the end.

I loved the episode, as the entire S4 so far

what I liked:

Lucas&Peyton these 2 are amazing together. I loved Lucas told her about his book, I was sure he was gonna tell her soon and he did. and as I thought, she didn't get angry, because she knows Lucas and his fears better than anybody else. of course I loved their "hot" scenes. the one in Lucas bedroom was funny and sexy at the same time. The scene at the party was the hottest I've ever seen on OTH. I'm glad finally Lucas is with someone who loves, understands and supports him, instead of always complaining about what he does. I loved the remind to S1, another confirmation of where these 2 comes from. and thanks God for CH, their chemistry is amazing and in this episode was on fire.

Lucas/Dan I was waiting for a scene with these 2 since Lucas "dreamt" Keith. and I finally got some. I think Lucas is laying his armor down with Dan and this makes me feel bad, because he will be devastated if/when he finds out Dan killed Keith. but I think in this episode it seemed like Lucas still wants to believe Dan can be a good person, a good father to him. I guess you are never ready to give up this kind of hope. Dan was good in this episode and it really seems like he wants to be a better person. but I can't forget he killed Keith, so everytime he was with Karen or Lucas, I kept on screaming "stay away from him"

Peyton I think she was way too generous with Brooke. but that's what Peyton is. She loves Brooke in spite of the crappy way Brooke treated her for so long time

the Bros finally we got a scene of these 2 together

Rachel I liked her, I think it's the first time. she did something selfless. I hope Brooke won't let her take all the fault because it wouldn't be fair

NB tape I was waiting for Brooke to be caught out. I really hope this time Haley, Lucas and Peyton won't forgive her immediately, like it always happens with her. And I hope this time she's gonna take her responsability


what I didn't like

Brooke/Chase they are still boring to me

Brooke entering Lucas bedroom like it was her home

Mouth/Shelley maybe my poor english made me lose something, but I can't really understand where they came from. all the things they told each other looked to me way too much. they have been dating for few days and they acted like Romeo and Giulietta. I didn't like them. and I think the way the writers made Mouth lose his verginity kinda ruined all the build up of his character.

Likes:
-Haley b****-slapping Rachel. So amazing.
-Skills "having the kid's back." That was just adorable.

Dislikes:
-The N/////////B sex tape. So wrong on so many levels. And, the sprinkler fight? One word. Contrived. Hated it.
-L/P wierds me out. I don't know what it is, but they just do.
-The L/N scene where Lucas is looking at Keith's photo. There was just so much hair in that scene...
-Shelly/Mouth. Whatev. Mouth, quit acting like such a freakin' girl. Also, didn't like how Shelly is all over the place. One minute, she's dedicated to her cause, and adamant to stay a "born again virgin," and then she's having sex as a way to say goodbye? Ok. Sure.
-I usually like Dan/Karen scenes, because Paul and Moira bring the hotness. But, something was off, this week. I don't know.
-The Lucas/Dan scene at the tux shop. Why didn't The Chad's expression change, AT ALL?
-Nathan's hair. I'm just, jeez, cut it already!

Random Observation:
Do ya'll notice that Lee Norris portrays Mouth as a very feminine kind of guy? Like, little mannerisms he does scream "teenage girl." In season three, when he tells Rachel that her pants make her butt look big, and then takes it back, he hugs his books to his chest. It's not the first time that he's done it, but it's the one example that I can remember in exact detail. And, then, last episode, when Shelly says something about being in love in 10 years, Mouth does this little thing where he puts his hands in his pockets, shrugs his shoulders really high, and get's this goofy grin on his face while cocking his head to one side. Maybe it's just me, but I can't watch any scene that Lee is in because I always end up asking myself why he has the same mannerisms as a girl. Anyone else notice that?

All else sucked.

I LOVED the LP scenes. :sigh: :sigh: Chad & Hilarie have such a great chemistry, it makes me love LP even more. :love:

The Nathan/Lucas scene was great too even if it was short. Any scene between the brothers is always nice to watch.

And I like Rachel so the end of the episode made me feel a little sad for her.

Aside for the obvious things that I hated about the episode, I really did not like Brooke. IMO, they just made her look incredibly selfish w/ just standing there doing nothing while Rachel took the fall for her and Haley got fired for her job. It just irritated me. Of course they're going to do something to "redeem" her like they do with every other character and I can understand how some people could defend her, but, I don't know, she seemed to play such a "matyr" in this character when she really wasn't., but I, for one, am going to see Peyton punch the hell out of her. Which, honestly I didn't think I would. :lol:

The L/P scenes were kind of akward, I was kind of taken aback when Peyton said she wanted to do it at a party to be "special" even though it was the first time they were going to do something. But hey, leave it to writers to thing that way. :lol:

And Nathan just poking Haley's sock while Haley was caressing Nathan's face bugged as well.

Hated LP scenes. They are far too gross for me and make me squirm. Everytime they'd try having sex, I had to change the channel. I'm sorry but those two have no romantic chemistry whatsoever. Just..no.

Hated the re-writing of history a la NB sex tape. Since when did NB turn into pornstars? Oh and, thanks for totally making Brooke look like the bad guy in the BP friendship. I still don't buy that crap. Never will.

Hated Brooke lying to Haley because that's not who she is. One thing that's always been consistent about Brooke is her LOYALTY. So that's just another way to make Brooke look like the bad guy. Again, nailed it. Perfecto. (I'm totally rolling my eyes)

Loved the NB sprinklers scene. That was the highlight of the episode for me. I've always thought James and Sophia have good chemistry. I like NB as friends, but that doesn't mean I like the sex tape crap. It's the worst storyline ever after Lucas realizing his love for Peyton in less than an episode. Actually, sex tape beats that.

Also, hated the amount of screen time Mouth/Shelly got.

I have just watched the episode..and i actually liked it..not just because i'm an LP fan.
LP- i loved their scenes together..and especially the flashback to S1 (LIAGH!!..so many parallels). plus..i love that Lucas couldn't lie to Peyton for very long. They have a solid relationship..
I believe Hilarie and Chad do have a lot of chemistry, but that's just my opinion, some ppl may think otherwise. i'm also happy they didn't go all the way yet..when it happens, it'll be amazing though
NH- they actually had some cute scenes tonight. i do like them together, i'm not sure why ppl are so upset over the sex tape..i'm sure things will work out, plus, its already been written and screened, they way i see it, if i join in with the complaining, it doesn't really change anything.
Brooke- there werent many BC scenes really. I liked be BR scenes though..I'm sad that they got Haley fired as a tutor, and Brooke didn't take any responsibility really..plus the sex tape at the end..even with reading spoilers, what happened then was really wrong. I like BN, their friendship, but i can see why ppl are complaining. btw..i *love* how Peyton just signed off her artwork to Brooke..she's so selfless :nod:
Mouth- well, there was like a 2/3 week jump from the last episode..so that may be why he seemed really clingy..i felt a little sorry for him about Shelley, but did he force her to have sex?
those are just the main things i wanted to comment on.

and there was a LOT of alcohol at that party wasn't there...

I have to say Chad and Hil are amazing, and so brave to take these steps in making this relationship play out so real on camera. Thank you. :hug::love::sigh:

Lucas&Peyton their chemistry blows me away. They are amazing together. :love: LOVED the LIAGH throwback. I didn't get it at first..why Dans bedroom again. When I first heard about this scene playing out in the same room...but of course her saying his words right back to him just made them come full circle. It made me remember that episode compared to this one and how far they've come. As individual characters and as a couple. LOVE. purely simply, just ....LOVE :love:

Peyton/Brooke not a fan of this ship, but I've learned to live with it. I did enjoy Peyton signing over her drawings, she didn't even hesitate. It says so much about her HEART and the person she is. What she said to Brooke made me feel for both these girls believe it or not. Because Peyton's sentiment is felt so clearly. It makes me feel for her that she can't have her lover and best friend too. "I love him, I really do. But I never meant my love for him to hurt you". What a beautifully written line. Beautifully delivered by Hil as well.

Mouth/Shelly ok. I really don't get it. I could like them, but last night I was really perplexed about this Shelly character. So....just because she's a clean teen she can't go out with anyone because she can't control herself. So how is she ever going to have a relationship with anyone? Those feelings/urges will be there if and when she decides to date. So basically what she's saying is that she can't excersise some self control ever? yea I don't get it, it's kind of silly and unrealistic.

Rachel I'm not sure where her sl is going at this point of wanting to help out Brooke. But I loved that her character is so layered and you never know where she is emotionally or what she's thinking, until you do and you're pleasently surprised. I LOVE her. She pisses me off, and yet I'm still pulling for her. :D She has the potential to be better, and to be good as we saw last night. And i love that.

Lucas/Dan Dan was so creepy last night. I mean I keep thinking he could hurt Lucas if Lucas gets too close. It scares me....and I like it. ;) :lol:

Nathan/Brooke oddly enough the tape didn't bother me, though I don't see the hotness there at.all. Can't say I was surprised. But the sprinklers....wtf?!! CONTRIVEDmuch?. When have they talked, had a conversation about something real, then to have them play around like that...way too forced. They don't have that kind of relationship, do they? Unless.......unless they've been scretly talking all this time. eh.

I did enjoy Nathan defending Peyton :D:hug: and the Lucas/Nathan scene, though short was good too. :wiggle:

- Brooke/Nathan running through the sprinklers.
- Mouth/Shelly having sex.

Wonderful episode :sigh: I am overwhelmed by how awesome this season is and how well the writers are doing LP :love:

NB contrived and I miss the good Naley stuff but I know well see it again soon

Mouth is too clingy and Shelly is stupid for falling for his crap to get her into bed she knows better she did it before!!!!!
