Welcome to the Gossip Girl spoiler and speculation thread, feel free to post about any upcoming story-line

Blair (Leighton Meester) decides to speed up the time table on her career path to becoming a powerful woman.... but ultimately stretches herself too thin. Serena (Blake Lively) is forced to choose between her family and Ben (guest star David Call). Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Lily’s (Kelly Rutherford) relationship remains icy in the aftermath of Lily’s betrayal. Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. - According to E!, both William van der Woodsen and Jack Bass will return later in the season.
- At the moment the DB storyline will only be about helping Serena but what lies ahead is unclear.
- Penn reports GG will add another marriage into the mix.

- Spin City's Michael Boatman and One Life To Live's Tika Sumpter will team up to play father and daughter business team Russell and Raina Thorpe in the second half of season 4.
- Parts of Juliet's plan may carry over to the second half of the season.
- Dan and Blair will team up to take down Juliet Linkage
- Chuck and Blair are not now, and basically never will be, over.

Interviews:
- Katie Cassidy is currently doing 11 episodes, but her stay might be extended...
- According to Katie Cassidy, Juliet’s “reasoning for wanting to take down people or someone is legitimate…..when it’s revealed why she’s there and what she’s doing, it’s understandable.” And her feelings for Nate are real.
- Not to mention the following: The impact about Chuck's shooting and questions about his health will last all season; Blair will be discovering her major; Dorota's baby will create some conflict with the Waldorfs, probably because Eleanor gets too attached; Billy Baldwin should be back in the second half of the season.
- According to TV Guide, Connor Paolo will have more screentime next season to make up for the absence of Jenny. Boyfriend will be involved.

Speculation/Other News:
- W Magazine will be featured in 6 - 8 episodes of the second half of season 4.
- A wedding dress designer was approached about using one of her designs in a future episode.
Linkage
- According to Kevin Zegers' fansite, he will be returning to film at least one more episode of GG.
- Lily appears to be responsible for Ben being in jail.
- Chuck and Serena will team up for something, and it involves Serena dressing like Lily.
- Serena will move on to Ben after Dan, and we don't really know why DS break up.
- Nate is going to continue his Daddy/Mommy divorce story lines and doesn't seem to be having Serena time after 4.10.
- Chuck will start a Bass Industries story line with Russell/Raina, and might have a romantic interest in Raina.
- Dan and Blair will intern at W magazine together.
- No sign Jenny or Vanessa filming after 4.10.

So you dont want Blair to grow? Is that it? I dont understand why her and dan going to the movies is OOC for people? Blair and Dan are always the ones spouting off intellectual and cultural references. I for one like to see her grow and make friends outside of Serena.

TFTNT!

Just wanted to add...that the season ending outcome of this is that Blair isn't with Dan, but she goes and becomes romantically involved with a PRINCE. A prince. The same prince she lectured on historical mores, and what a tuxedo meant. She's not becoming Vanessa. I thought the main part of the early season were that Blair needs to be less rigid in her world views. I think she is growing up and becoming less rigid, but...again PRINCE. I don't think her snobbery is going away. I don't think she's becoming Bohemian. She is trying for a career in editorial high fashion.

I think they're trying to bring back some of Blair's layers, and I think it's succeeding for a lot of people. Could it be better written? Oh, yes,. Absoluetly. But so could absolutely everything on the show. I'd trust 90% of the posters here to write more respectful storylines than most of what we've gotten.

It has nothing to do with me not wanting Blair to grow. That wasn't even the point of the discussion. But no I don't see Blair and Dan bonding as Blair 'growing' at all. So she made a new friends. I fail to see how that is growth. In her work yes I belive she has grown but a friendship with Dan does not = Growth to me.

well you said she was in a 'box' before so blair in the 'box' didnt like people like dan.. so blair outside ' the box' finding common interests with dan and seeing him for more than just dan from brooklyn is GROWTH imo.

The writers have been recycling plots and arcs for seasons now. I'm tired of the characters doing the same thing all the time. DB is a chance for growth and a chance to get back to the premise of the show. Blending the worlds and finding common ground.

A 19 year old girl going to the movies is hardly OOC.

I can think of sooo many other things that were more OOC for Blair then her liking movies.

I don't think NYU had anything to do with French movies or even Dan. Dan did try to help her fit in during that time and again towards the end of the season. It was the 2nd or 3rd episode of season 3 (I don't remember which) that Dan brought Blair to a party to help her fit in. Where she thanked him and he told her no headbands. At the end of the season he took her a different party to help with move on from Chuck. Before that at Dorota's wedding he helped her there too.

Blair's NYU struggles were she didn't want to be there in the first place. She wanted to "rule" a place that she didn't understand the school/people, not just Dan alone. He was the one person around who did help her. One scene Dan was sitting with Tisch kids people and she went and sat there because of Dan, didn't she? DB bonding isn't new with a manufactured hobby. Blair loving all things French isn't manufactured and despite her culture loving had nothing to do with NYU and why she struggled.

Also they're bridging the UES/Brooklyn gap. Dan's become more UES now, he's plotting/scheming, he's getting internships handed to him by his mother's connections while Blair worked for hers. He and Nate took care of Damien last week. I don't think NYU issues Blair had was anything to do with a common like of French film or would it have helped, because it still existed back then. Blair liking French film was still her tastes back in NYU, her entire dorm room was French decor.

Blair liking French films is not something manufactured or in organic thing they threw in all of a sudden out of the blue to have her bond with Dan. It's something that was always there and it just bridged the gap. It's very in character for her to love French cinema. She spent the summer in the Musee d'Orsay staring at a Manet on a daily basis.

seriously! blairs not fighting to be the queen of columbia anymore. she is actually doing something enjoyable ( working) and actually MAKING a friend. Not a friend she can boss around and call a 'minion'

I think Blair being able to make a friend is actually growth for her. Part of what made last season so painful was her complete and utter inability to make a friend. She was so tied up in power dynamics and her own fears, that it was apparently impossible for her.

I get that people don't like it's Dan. A friend was at the top of my list for Blair wishes however. Somebody who can see the world in a way she doesn't, and support her. I'm hoping we actually get to see Blair talk abuot the past year and her life, and what she wants.

Im pretty sure I didn't bring up the Box analogy, but I said I prepher Blair in the box if this is Blair outside the box. I like Blair when she's a bitch to the Humphery's, thats my opinion.

I think we have two different opinions on what Growth is for a character
