Welcome to the Gossip Girl spoiler and speculation thread, feel free to post about any upcoming story-line

GOSSIP GIRL RETURNS WITH FIVE FABULOUS FINAL EPISODES FOR SEASON FOUR — As Lily (Kelly Rutherford) awaits the consequences of her decision, William van der Woodsen (guest star Billy Baldwin), CeCe (guest star Caroline Lagerfelt) and Lily’s sister, Carol (guest star Sheila Kelley), come into town to support her and be part of a Taschen photo shoot on “modern royalty” in which the Rhodes family is participating. Unbeknownst to Carol, who has always chosen to keep her daughter Charlie (guest star Kaylee DeFer) far away from the Upper East Side, Charlie has followed her to New York to meet Serena (Blake Lively) and the rest of the family. With Nate’s (Chace Crawford) help, Raina (guest star Tika Sumpter) decides to go on a search for her long-lost mother. Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) hopes about his legacy are dashed with the reveal of devastating information from the past. Jessica Szohr, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star.

Speculation/Other News:
- A wedding dress designer was approached about using one of her designs in a future episode.
Linkage
- No sign Jenny filming up to 4.20.
- 4x18, the idea is that Dair remain platonic, but that's not certain.
- Serena and Chuck do find out about their relationship, and let's just say they're not thrilled.
- At the end of 4x18 Louis's back. Chuck's not happy.
- 4x19 Blair and Louis are dating. Chuck's not still not happy.
- Jack Bass is back in 4x20/21 and there's a possibility he's working with Russell and bringing some OMG news with him

- 4x21 could be called shattered Bass because Chuck punches a mirror over all the things going wrong in his life. Ed had cuts and bandages over his hands (pics), it looked like he had punched something.
- Chuck is escorted out of either the Empire / Charles Place looking quite angry by guards.
- Charlie, Serena's cousin, and Lily's sister are coming to town.
- There's a strong possibility that Charlie and Dan get involved romantically.
- Charlie might be sticking around longer than we initially thought, possibly as a season 5 regular.
- Rufus/Lily could be headed towards trouble in paradise. There's the idea of jail running around, and her family members turning up is a recipe for disaster.
- Louis's contract doesn't pass 4 episodes, it's unlikely he's back for seaon 5.
- There's a small chance for a chair reunion.
- Chuck's getting redeemed somehow. The poster of Charles Place says something along the lines of redemption and it's meant to be about Chuck.
- Someone said that the writers know exactly what they're doing releasing the pics of Blair with her engagement ring, Charles Place, Dan/Charlie and Blair/Nate/Chuck in Brooklyn are all meant to be hinting towards something.
- There have been pics of Raina/Nate having a small argument released.
- Not sure what's going on with Archibald recently.

Was this about 4x20+ or 4x18 though? Who posted it?

The original spec was jack threatening to tell te tabloids about the IP (not just Louis but EVERYONE which is even worse espeically since she's engaged to a prince) and Chuck giving up BI and the Empire for her so Jack won't spill.

That would be the START of redemption, still not completely enough obviously but it would show him slowly maturing. It would certainly be nice to see.

He honestly doesn't need to because Blair always runs back to him anyways. The end of Season3 was the same, he was player/drunk Chuck 318+ and Blair still ran to him in 322.

She heard him call Raina sacred and knew he was thinking of Raina, so her response to that to overwork herself to run back to Chuck faster. Because losing him to Raina, would be such a loss apparently.

Okay no here are some new "spoilers". I really dont know how legit they are, but they sound plausible:

blair and dan have a nice friendship scene. he says "i hope your happy" or something like that and holds out his hand for her to shake, but she hugs him instead.

-Chuck giving up BI so Blair can be with the Prince seems like his "redemption"..rme

-Serena walking in on DC sounds very plausible and also like the final nail in the coffen for DS.

-Blair actually hugging Dan instaead of a hanshake sounds very possible too. because she would finally be admiting they were actully friends.

I honestly just hate the fact that Balir sepnds the summer with Chuck. I mean really, how unecpected is that!?

I think that post on TWoP is a foiler. That was Caitie's spec from months ago, and Jack isn't even in the finale. He's in 420 and 421 from what I understand.

But we've been through the various interpretations of the IP a thousand times so no reason to repeat it

Honestly, though, when Ed Westwick himself called it "Whoring her out to his uncle," I felt fully justified in referring to it that way, as well. It's what it is on a pure and simple level. The show may think it's funny now, but I do not.

In some respects, I agree with you that we should have expected them to laugh off the IP. They did call Jenny and Chuck sleeping together last Jenny "doing what she so resisted" in the pilot. They did laugh off Chuck's attempted assaults as him being a "kissing bandit."

On the other hand, there were so many cues to me that Blair was deeply affected by the IP still. She made reference to the "skin trade," she was shown to not trust Chuck in 4x07, she told Dan it was "too soon," and moreover, I always saw her violent whore lashing out as Jenny (and Eva to an extent) as a twisted deflection of her own guilt at playing the prostitute. She flat out said that the IP was something "nobody would forgive" and that it made her not like who she was. So...what's the point? Minimalize it? Pretend it didn't happen? Or try to "bad up" Blair to where she is proud that she did it? Honestly, all those possibilities are cringe-inducing.

It's a TV show, Blair is not going to die. It's crazy, over the top entertainment. I'm pretty sure guys across don't own hotels for which they'll sell their girlfriend's out. It's pure, ridiculous entertainment and it's a show that will NEVER be mentioned for an Emmy. So if people are excited for CB, let it be. Sabrina, I don't think the show is all that ~serious, either, but I do find it's message pretty damn irresponsible given it's audience is young women. I don't think Chuck himself is misogynistic per se, but I think the show absolutely is. They go out of their way to show that Chuck can "get any woman" (per Nate's words in 417), and then show Blair as unlovable and dark. They show Chuck's sex as "mindless" and refuse to allow the women to have sex without mention, ****-shaming, or just have it at all (in Blair and Jenny's cases). The way they deal with sex in and of itself is wholly misogynistic. Think about how when CB parted, Blair's sexuality had been equated to a trading piece. Instead of CB's first time back together being about Chuck reassuring her of the value of the gift of her sexuality, it was "I hate you!" and let's do it on a piano.

Also, I don't think CB is abusive, but I think the show likes to flirt with giving Chuck a lot of classic "abuser" traits. I think they want to flirt with those dark edges in him. Which would be totally fine from a purely entertainment or storytelling perspective if they didn't also try to sell CB as "twu wuv." For example, the way Chuck talks to Blair (ie "You'll never find anything like us"/ "No one will compare") is such a classic mind control type mentality common in abusers, that it's just creepy to me. I don't see it as epic or romantic, and I think the show just thinks it's funny at this point. From a Blair fan perspective, though, giving in to his mind control and being unable to walk away for more than a moment makes her so weak. The total opposite of the powerful woman she wants to be.

I was putting parts together in the promo, and the part where Louis says to Blair "You saw Chuck... twice." is the same as the part where he goes, "I want to be with you Blair." Earlier in the promo, so I don't think HE leaves HER at all.

I don't know what to think anymore, but I go back and forth on Louis. We've heard over and over again how ~real he is, but if Blair's heart isn't into it (if Louis is her following her head and not her heart) and she's lying to him to run off to Chuck (twice), then I don't know how seriously we're supposed to take this. Even more so if (my WORST fear) she cheats on him with Chuck.

I really have a hard time with the argument that it's a tv show so we shouldn't take it serious. We're all here posting on a message board and into the show enough that we can't wait for it to air we have to follow spoilers. Face it, we all take it serious. We're invested in these characters.

And if we're going to go the entertainment angle, I don't find watching a girl pine miserably and be celibate for a man who treats her the way Chuck has this season to be entertaining. I find it really sad and depressing. Blair looks weak and pathetic. It's actually pretty exhausting to watch her character this season with the exception of seeing her happy with Dan. No other character on the show is so completely chained to one person that she cannot get over him. A year later she's still in the same place. 3x18 she walked away from him and here she is in 4x18 walking away from him again. When is it gonna be enough?

I enjoyed the promo for the last five episodes. Let's just hope the episodes themselves are as good as that promo (even though it bugged that Serena was nowhere to be seen).

I'm excited to see what's in store for CB for the rest of the season.

If they want to continue to tell CB story then let Chuck carry them for a season while Blair moves on and dates other people. But, this will never happen. We're only ever going to get this. Blair being miserable and weak forever and ever. Fun times. Her whole storyline was about getting over him and becoming strong. Neither of those things happened.
