From the brilliant mind of Matt Nix, creator and executive producer of the iconic hit series “Burn Notice,” comes USA’s new and unpredictable thriller, “Complications.” Starring Jason O’Mara (“Vegas”) as Dr. John Ellison, the 10-episode original series is set to premiere in summer 2015.
“Complications” centers on a disillusioned suburban doctor who, while still dealing with the emotional effects of his daughter’s death, unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life. When John learns the boy is still marked for death, he’s compelled to save him at any cost. Through this journey, he must compromise his morals, often doing the wrong thing for all the right reasons.
The series also stars Jessica Szohr (“Gossip Girl”) as Gretchen, a reckless but capable nurse; Beth Riesgraf (“Leverage”) as John’s wife, Samantha, who while attempting to support her husband, is struggling with her own issues; and Lauren Stamile (“Burn Notice”) as John’s by-the-book coworker, Dr. Bridget O’Neill, who finds herself dealing with the aftermath of his actions.
“Complications,” from Fox 21 Television Studios, is created by Matt Nix who also serves as executive producer and director of the pilot. Michael Horowitz will serve as co-executive producer.

In the thrilling new USA series Complications, Szohr plays Gretchen, a tattooed lesbian nurse and avenging angel of mercy for her boss, a Good Samaritan doctor (Jason O’Mara) who saves the victim of a drive-by shooting and then must dodge ruthless gang members. Gretchen is also a steadfast advocate for patients jerked around by the system: In early episodes, she falsifies a bad diagnosis to shield a battered woman inside the hospital, and then beats the **** out of the woman’s attacker in her downtime. “Gretchen always tries to make the best of a bad situation,” says Szohr, “even if it’s not the right way.” But she’s more than just a renegade: Gretchen is multidimensional (a product of foster care and childhood abuse) and totally likable.

It's about a doctor and nurse, but it's not Grey's or even ER. From what we've seen/heard. The doc gets involved in a gang war, WHOOPS. Saving, not saving, gang members.
