They need to add a whole new side to some of the characters with a new exciting plot. I mean, I get we all our insecurities--But with the exception of Kaylie/Austin and Payson kissing Sasha, as well as (soon) Emily/Damon; the whole repitition of it all kind of gets boring sometimes.

I just watched my first episode of the show and the only reason I'm watching next week's ep is to see what happens with Payson and Sasha.

I found everything else boring. But Sasha/Payson? Kinda hot, inappropriate, and intriguing all at the same time. *shrugs*

I guess, I do understand the recurring theme with Emily, since insecurity issues aren't just something you get over. My problem with Emily is that she was portrayed much stronger in the beginning even with insecurities. Lauren's also repetitive which makes no sense, because quite frankly, she has Carter now. And it's not like Steve was marrying Chloe and she'd have to share her father with Emily. Steve was just giving them a financially helping hand, but of course, she had to throw a fit over that too.

With the characters that started out stronger, the show seems to do that with a lot of the characters who normally started out strong; ex. emily and sasha. Sash used to be the head strong coach, but now he's letting Emily Beales push him around.

I think that Lauren's just a brat, frankly. I mean, I know she has layers. But at some point, the writers need to let her have a heart.

^I agree. Sasha started out as a fierce coach who wouldn't stand for any BS from anyone. Now he lets Ellen kick him out of his gym?!!!

But at least, I have the feeling that they are writing him this way so he can make a "comeback" in the midseason finale. Still, imo, this is a plot-driven plot instead of character-driven.

LMAO. Lauren has layers? Since when?

I agree with that. I mean, what happened to the coach who jepordized his own career to set up a meet with China, knowingly going against Ellen Beals wishes?

It sorta seemed like Marty and Sasha switched roles this last episode Marty stood up to her, while Sasha backed down.

I thought last night's episode was entertaining. I felt really bad for Payson since her crush on Sasha is going to blow up in her face and probably shake her confidence (since Sasha won't be there to support her). I'm glad we got a bit of a break from Emily, and her scenes at the pharmacy played out better than I thought they would. I felt really bad for Kaylie, but her struggle was portrayed perfectly (I have a sister who dealt with anorexia for years so I know how hard it is to get someone to change their mindset even if you just want to shove food in their mouth and tell them to eat). I still felt nothing for Lauren. Her tears don't seem genuine since she causes all her own problems. She has Carter and her dad's attention so I don't know what else she's looking for.

TVGuide.com: Does something happen to cause Lauren to change her ways?
Scerbo: Something really huge happens in episode 9 for Lauren that's going to change her entire life. You will absolutely see an extremely vulnerable side of Lauren. What happens to her is really shocking and she winds up having a complete change of heart. The next half of the season is going to be an interesting road for her. I think a lot of people are going to truly feel for her.
She gets sent to boarding school?

Does she have Carter though? I thought their last scene implied that they were breaking up?

I think her mother dies in episode 9, isn't that what happens?

THE GIRLS ARE ON THE BRINK OF DISASTER
IN THE MID-SEASON FINALE OF "MAKE IT OR BREAK IT,"
TUESDAY, AUGUST 31ST AT 9:00 PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Gymnastics Coaching Legend Béla Károlyi Guest Stars

Burbank, CA (August 18, 2010) – It's the day of World tryouts and with the absence of their beloved coach -- and their focus -- the girls' dream faces possible destruction, in "At the Edge of the Worlds," the mid-season finale of ABC Family's original series "Make It or Break It," premiering Tuesday, August 31st (9:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT).

As the girls head into their toughest challenge yet, their worlds begin the crumble. And leading the charge to make sure the girls don't make it onto the US World's gymnastic team is Ellen Beals. But it isn't just Ellen's quest to dominate The Rock that's testing the girls' wills. Lauren is dealing – or not dealing – with the news about her mother; Kaylie can no longer ignore the things she has put her body through; Emily must face a possible delinquent future and Payson is still reeling from her embarrassing spur of the moment actions. Can The Rock girls once again put great challenges behind them and show the world that they're the best -- or is this finally too much for the girls to overcome?

Gymnastics coaching legend Béla Károlyi guest stars as Boris Belov, Sasha's father and former gymnastics coach.

"Make It or Break It" stars Chelsea Hobbs, Ayla Kell, Josie Loren, Cassie Scerbo, Peri Gilpin, Candace Cameron Bure and Susan Ward.

I know what it feels like to lose a parent, but I will not feel sorry for Lauren. I just can't with her. All I'll be thinking is CRY MOAR BITCH.

Kaylie not being able to ignore what she put her body through? Austin to the rescue, I am assuming.
Lauren's mother dying? It will take much more than that for people to suddenly turn and love this girl again. Much more.
Payson dealing with the embarassment; I want to see how her parents react to this situation.
Emily going to jeuvy? I really didn't think it made any sense how the pharmascist was reacting to her at the pharmacy. I know that America might have a few strict laws, but it doesn't mean for people to be heartless. I thought it was stupid how the man reacted to her, and I feel really bad for Emily.
Super excited for Béla Károlyi!

I can't believe it's mid season finale already I suppose it will be quite dramatic...
