Jack & Bobby New show on The WB!

I have some pictures of this show, but I don't remember how to post them. Sorry!

Here are two descriptions of the show:

JACK & BOBBY, starring Christine Lahti (“Chicago Hope,”), is a powerful and
poignant new one-hour drama about two bright young brothers, Jack (newcomer Matt
Long) and Bobby McCallister (Logan Lerman, “The Butterfly Effect”). Growing up
under the watchful eye of their eccentric single-parent mother Grace McCallister (Lahti).
Grace’s personality is a force of nature destined to shape both of these young men’s lives
and secure one a place in the history books- as President of the United States.
Created by Berlanti & Vanessa Taylor and Steve Cohen and Brad Meltzer, JACK
& BOBBY is executive produced by Berlanti (“ Dawson’s Creek,” “Everwood”),
Mickey Liddell (“Everwood,” “Go”) and Thomas Schlamme (“The West Wing,” “Ally
McBeal”). It is produced by Berlanti/Liddell Productions and Shoe Money Productions
in association with Warner Bros. Television Production Inc.

Here is the second description:

Jack and Bobby
New Series
Hour Drama
Sundays 9/8c
From master storytellers Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Dawson's Creek) and Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, Ally McBeal) comes a powerful and poignant new drama directed by the incomparable David Nutter (Smallville, Without a Trace). If "greatness is thrust upon us," as Winston Churchill once said, then it's equally true that those who are destined for greatness are rarely aware of it. Take Jack and Bobby McCallister, for example: two bright young brothers growing up under the watchful eye of their eccentric single mother (Academy Award, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Christine Lahti). Her personality is a force of nature destined to shape both of these young men's lives and secure one a place in the history books - as future President of the United States. Set in present day, with flash-forward interviews of future-President McCallister's White House staffers and first lady, it's a snapshot of a young man being molded to beat the odds and become the mid-century's greatest presidential leader.

From Warner Bros. Television Production Inc., Berlanti/Liddell Productions, and Shoe Money Productions. Creator/executive producer Greg Berlanti, creator/co-executive producer Vanessa Taylor (Everwood), creators Steve Cohen and Brad Meltzer, with executive producers Mickey Liddell (Everwood, Go) and Thomas Schlamme.

Hey there...just popping in to say that I've seen the pilot. It's actually very good--better than I thought it was going to be. Without giving away too much...

It uses a really interesting technique during the pilot episode, sort of like an A&E Biography kind of thing...interviews with key people in the "present day" and then cutting to the narrative story in the "past" (2004).

Plus, the question of which brother becomes president is very well-evaded. You go back and forth throughout the whole episode as to which one it is, but they finally do tell you at the end.

I hate Christine Lahti as a rule, but she is not horrible in this. Her character is very grating on the nerves, but she is pulled down in a very well-done way.

I'm around, so if anyone has any specific questions or whatever about the pilot, ask away.

President

So who ends up being the President ? I had thought I had read that it was Bobby, but I was just wondering if anyone could confirm or deny it.

I had friends who have seen the pilot and at the end of the episode you find out it is bobby.

I thought that it was Bobby. Making Jack the president seemed a little too obvious to me. Having it be the younger less stronger brother makes things even better. Bobby will learn a lot from Jack so, in a way he is also part of Bobby.

Saw the pilot, too.

My EW came with a DVD of the pilot so I just watched it. It definitely has that "Everwood" crossed with "The West Wing" feel, probably due to its creators. Also isn't Thomas Schlamme Christine Lahti's husband?

CL's character reminded me a lot of the mother in "Almost Famous" except for the pot smoking thing. I hope in future episodes they dispense with the "Biography" style interviews, I think it helped establish the tone of the show and introduced the players but I think it might disrupt the narrative in future eps.

I don't know if I'd watch it regularly, seems like a strange show to pair with "Charmed." Thought it might fit better with "Everwood."

I just watched it on AOL broadband.. i thought it was pretty good.. i didn't really like one revelvation of the show.. oh well.. what can you do.. but overall i thought it was good.. Yeah i agree.. it prolly is better suited paired with Everwood.. but Everwood is also good Paired with 7th Heaven.. Maybe they should of put it after 7th Heaven and moved Everwood.. because thats already Established a fanbase.. I'll def watch more episdoes to see what comes of it :)

Nice to hear that you guys liked it for the most part. I wish I could give some more input, but I haven't seen the show yet. :)

Either Jack & Bobby should be paired with Everwood. The Mountain should move to come in after 7th Heaven or vice versa(Mountain/Everwood & Jack&Bobby/7th Heaven). While Charmed should air after Smallville.

Am I imagining things or did I see a commercial where they said the girl that Jack's with is the future First Lady? If so.... ehhhh kinda weird. But I guess the age difference isn't much once they're older?

I just caught it on AOL too. I love character driven shows and it is such a nice mix of Everwood and West Wing. I'm happily in on this one. And since we get WB shows on an UPN network, I get this at ten on Sunday night. Perfect for me.

I haven't seen this commercial but I have thought about the possiblity that Courtney would be the first lady. Of course I pushed that aside because of the age difference and the fact the with knowing this the WB really can't do any real romantic relationship between Courtney and Jack without having it weird and the same thing if it is Courtney/Bobby because of the age difference. I don't know if the WB would be that out going basicly cut off the romantic relationships with a main teenage girl character.

she is the Future First lady.. but they explain what happens in the First Episode

Could you, or anyone else that has seen the pilot, explain this further?
How does she end up being the First Lady? I'm curious because it seems that they are pushing for her and Jack to be together, but he doesn't become president.

Actually, for anyone that has seen the pilot, could you give us an account of what happened? Please?

SiobhanJW 09-03-2004 09:26 PM

Okay.. :)

Jack is Courtney's First Love.. and vice versa.. They were together.. and as the older courtney said in the pilot that jack had died.. we don't know how.. or anything like that.. i'm assuming that her and jack were married( they don't say that in the pilot). Then several years after jack had died. Bobby decided that he wanted to run for state office or governor. .i don't remember.. and called her up to ask her if she would help.. and i'm assuming they fell in love and got married.. and then he became president

Wow this sounds really good. I'm gonna have to try and watch this.
