Bold and ever-capable trauma fellow Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell, "Arrow") is the newest doctor on staff at Chicago Med. Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss, "Shameless"), chief ER resident, is the brother of CPD's Det. Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). Halstead practiced medicine in New York before returning to his Windy City roots and is the epitome of reliability, both in and out of the hospital. Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt, "The Big C"), Med's Chief of Psychiatry, possesses remarkable insight into his patients and is off-the-charts intelligent in all subjects but his own personal life. Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson, "Law & Order"), the Chief Administrator of Clinical Operations of Chicago Med, expects the very best from her people as she balances the tremendous pressures of running the city's largest hospital, and always with a sense of humanity that allows her doctors to provide the very best care possible.

Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto, "The Vampire Diaries") specializes in emergency pediatric medicine and is completely focused and dedicated to her patients, despite being in the third trimester of her pregnancy. Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee, "Jurassic World") found his calling in medicine while serving as a Navy combat doctor. Currently on away rotation, he is a tireless yet impulsive doctor who is well versed in infectious diseases. Fourth-year medical student Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo, "Jane the Virgin") is a super proficient overachiever who has never struggled at anything, but who may soon find that, for the first time, she's in over her head. April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta, "I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story") is a smart, bold and intuitive ER nurse who is the lifeblood of the emergency room. She loves the action inside the hospital and is as loyal as they come.

Together, they will confront Chicago's most critical medical cases and challenging ethical dilemmas with courage, compassion and state-of-the-art treatment. Inspired by ripped-from-the-headlines cases, "Chicago Med" will weave cutting-edge medicine with the personal drama that comes with working in such a high-intensity environment. Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) navigates life as the new chief resident and finds the road a bit rocky, while Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) approaches Sarah (Rachel DiPillo) with an interesting opportunity that catches her off-guard. Elsewhere, April (Yaya DaCosta) works to come to terms with her recently discovered illness and Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) deals with a complicated case involving a pregnant woman who was a victim in a high speed collision. Meanwhile, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) takes exception to the actions of fourth-year medical student Jeff Clarke (guest star Jeff Hephner), whose past history with Dr. Manning may be a factor. 09/29/2016 (09:00PM - 10:00PM) (Thursday) : FAMILY SECRETS ARE BROUGHT TO THE SURFACE WHEN MAGGIE'S SIBLING COMES TO TOWN - Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and fourth-year medical student Jeff Clarke (guest star Jeff Hephner) are forced to figure out a mystery illness when an Indonesian man who doesn't speak English arrives at the hospital in dire straights. Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) takes Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) to her family reunion where he meets her sibling Denise (guest star Alexandra Grey) and uncovers deep-rooted family secrets. Meanwhile, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) takes on a complicated heart surgery without consulting Dr. Latham (guest star Ato Essandoh) and Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) encounter a woman experiencing an unusual pregnancy. Elsewhere, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) treat a homeless man with an upbeat disposition who sheds some valuable insight that prompts one of the doctors to learn a thing or two along the way. America has the shortest maternity leave out of most countries. There was actually an article about this on MSN recently and I was floored by how long it is in others countries. That said, isn't it up to 12 weeks unpaid as a full time worker? I was surprised Nata was back so quickly as well.

I haven't been pregnant or worked outside the home in over 10 years,so my info could be very outdated. lol But the last time I was pregnant and worked, I got 6 weeks for vaginal delivery, 8 for c-section and depending on your employer and/or boss, you could actually take up to 12 weeks off without losing your job. But like I said things could be very different now.

That said, I was very surprised to see Nat back at work so soon. One month just doesn't seem long enough for me. lol

I didn't even know a month had passed. Lol I thought the whole thing was strange but I was happy she was back. She's one of my favorites .

The pending lawsuit against Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) continues to move forward and Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Dr. Zanetti (guest star Julie Berman) scramble to save a patient with a misdiagnosed flesh-eating bacterial disease. Now if they only got rid of the romantic relationship between Connor and what's her name.
I actually like the chemistry and moments between him and Sarah Reese. I would like it if they explored that sometime down the line.
