I've laughed more at your posts this week than the show. There's a moral in there somewhere.
There is a moral in there and it's scary.
I'm a special education teacher, not a TV show writer, and I'm doing better than DSR in the comedy department. LOL

By the way, thanks for the compliments guys!
These silly promos let me find some humor in this whole mess of a season.

I think we are all fans of different characters/couples, but in the end, it comes down to the same thing. -- GOOD WRITING, GOOD STORYLINES, BIG LAUGHS, AND HIGH DRAMA. We already have the GOOD ACTORS. (And, yes, that does include David S.)

But why did she feel it was necessary to burn those bridges? That's what I don't understand.

I disagree. I don't think that at that point Lorelai believed she had him. Furthermore, I don't think she slept with Chris to get back at Luke. I think that whole thing was about her trying to figure out what would make her feel better at the time. Also, I think it was her way of closing the chapter on her relationship with Luke for her own sake. I think that if her intention was really to hurt Luke, then she would have intended to all along to tell Luke about it. And it really wasn't her intention at all to tell him.

Alot of people seem to think Lorelai will go to chris out of jealousy of luke being happy with april, orsomething along those lines. I think its just one reason, comfort.

Lorelai had strong feelings for chris before and she will always have feelings for him. It doesn't mean he's the love of her life, but he is someone who holds a part of herself, he has ALOT of history with her, more than Luke because she has known him since she was a kid.

I honestly think this lorelai chris storyline needed to happen where they get together for more than 2 episodes, but it should've happened properly in S2-S3, when lorelai wasn't yet together with Luke. Anyways, I'm not a hardcore JJ nor a hardcore BB, the only guy I ever liked with Lorelai was Max, so I'll just watch the drama unfold.

Thanks, little_earthquake. Nothing new or earthshattering, but I did a rough transcript for a friend who couldn't play it:

Quote:
About GG:

LG: It’s sort of, a continuation of the love triangle, that really started 7 years ago. But, um it’s still continuing, it’s kind of heating up, and I feel like this character, you know, this character’s finally going to make a choice this year

MC: My character’s going to have a little more passion associated with taking on the real world and the business side ... In college he was kind of resisting that aspect of what he was kind of going to do. And now he’s kind of embracing it and taking it over.

DS: I’ll be around a lot. That’s all I can really say . And that, um, that spells trouble

About the GG-VM pairing:

LG: I think that’s perfect because, to me they’re both shows that have kind of a wide appeal, but a core piece of that is appealing to smart girls and women, so it’s got a good, you know, you can watch it with your mom, you can watch it with another family member.

SP: You know what? Veronica Mars does not need our help.

Well that couldn't be any farther from the truth. VM needs all the help it can get.

I think if you rewatch and really listen to everyone's words you do understand a lot. Put the shipper part aside for a moment and just listen to what the characters have to actually say. I know people are emotional involved but really if you really listen to their thoughts/words you get a balanced story.
This one episode is far better than anything we were given last season.

I hope the second confrontation between L&L has some actually thoughts to it. Between Luke punching Chris and him trying to deny his feelings, he's coming off not so well. I hope in the second fight they actually fight. Some think he's giving it to her - I just see more denial. I get that he's upset and humilated but denying what they had is just pathetic. I'd much rather he say 'thanks for stomping on my heart and don't think you will get another chance'. That at least would be honest.

Thanks, aforce. The Kohl's video was included in the CW Launch Party list under "Extras", perhaps it wasn't clear that the footage included interviews. It is now.

Hawkeye - WB clearly isn't loosing money on the s.6 DVDs. On the other hand, most DVDs peak when they first release. I'd still like someone to sue over their TV ad's claim that the DVDs come "With Extras", but that's just me.

To put the sales in context, here's Amazon's Top 10 from about an hour ago, including release dates. Note that Grey's Anatomy s.2 release pulled s.1 into the top ten (weep for Everwood fans here). Probably can't compare that to GG; with 5 seasons under its belt, they may already have used up their coattails.

Amazon Top Ten

1. Little Mermaid – preorder for October 3

2. Grey’s Anatomy, s.2 – released Sept 12

3. Cars – preorder for November 7

4. Lost, season 2 – released Sept 5

5. X-Men: The Last Stand – preorder for October 3

6. Gilmore Girls s.6 – released Sept 19

7. Grey’s Anatomy, s.1 – released Feb 14 (presumably influenced by release of s.2)

8. Battlestar Galactice – s.2.5 – released Sept 19

9. Curious George – September 26

10. X-Men: The Last Stand, Collector’s Edition – preorder for October 3

Not sure if these numbers have been brought here, but some final results:

Media Post:

Quote:
Part pertaining to GG:

Somewhat troubling for the CW was its debut of "Gilmore Girls," which sank almost 30 percent in 18-49 viewers with a 2.0, down from last season's WB debut. In comparison to UPN, however, "Girls" was 53 percent higher versus last year's season debut of "America's Next Top Model." More depressing for "Girls" was that its younger audiences are seemingly slipping away, earning a 2.1 rating among 18-34 viewers, down 32 percent.
From Media Week:

Quote:
In season-premiere news, the CW’s Gilmore Girls opened on a below average note with 4.48 million viewers (#5) and a 2.0/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#5) at 8 p.m. Compared to it’s year-ago opener on the WB (Viewers: 6.22 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8 on Sept. 13, 2005), that was a decrease of 1.74 million viewers and 29 percent among adults 18-49. Gilmore also ranked third in the time period among adults 18-34 (2.2/ 7) and women 18-34 (3.5/10).
And finally, I guess OTH fans have no trouble reading their local tv listings:

TheCW's Wednesday Results

Quote:
In season-premiere news, season four of serial One Tree Hill got some mileage out of Top Model, with an improved 3.1/ 5 in the overnights, 3.64 million viewers and a 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49. Although that is certainly not significant, compared to it’s year-ago season-opener on the WB (Overnights: 2.8/ 4; Viewers: 3.46 million; A18-49: 1.7/ 5 on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.), it was an increase of 11 percent in the overnights and 180,000 viewers (with no change among adults 18-49). One Tree Hill was also up 3 percent among key women 18-34.

IN SEASON SEVEN, "GILMORE GIRLS" SCORES SOLID CW DEBUT IN TARGET DEMO OF WOMEN 18-34 "Gilmore Girls" Ranks Third in Women 18-34 Against Tough Competition from "House" and "Dancing With The Stars"

IN SEASON SEVEN, "GILMORE GIRLS" SCORES SOLID CW DEBUT IN TARGET DEMO OF WOMEN 18-34 "Gilmore Girls" Ranks Third in Women 18-34 Against Tough Competition from "House" and "Dancing With The Stars"

"Gilmore" Builds in Second Half Hour in Key Demos and Viewers

"Gilmore Girls" Lifts Stations in Several Top 10 Markets among Women 18-34 and Adults 18-34

September 27, 2006 (Burbank, CA) - Returning for its seventh season, "Gilmore Girls" made its CW debut ranking third in its target demo of women 18-34 (3.5/10) in the highly competitive 8-9:00PM time period, which includes Fox's "House" and ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Tuesday, Sept 26.

"Gilmore Girls" built in the second half hour across all key demographics and viewers, increasing 15% in adults 18-34, 16% in women 18-34 and adding more than 700,000 viewers at 8:30PM.

In addition to premiering against tough competition, "Gilmore Girls" also moved to a new local station in nearly a third of the U.S.

According to Nielsen data in local peoplemeter markets, "Gilmore Girls" scored for The CW's local stations in the top 10 markets with key demographics.

In women 18-34, "Gilmore Girls" won the 8:00PM hour in New York (5.8/18), Dallas (6.1/19) and Boston (6.7/21). "Gilmore Girls" finished a competitive second in the hour in Chicago (6.0/19) and Philadelphia (5.9/17), beating ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" in those markets.

In adults 18-34, "Gilmore Girls" ranked first at 8:00PM in Dallas (4.0/14), and came in a solid second in Chicago (3.8/13), Philadelphia (4.3/13) and Boston (3.9/12), again beating "Dancing with the Stars."

CW spin but it's nice to have a little positive with all the negativity around here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you have to remember that Wednesday is a pretty light tv night. Tuesday is a powerhouse. Easier for OTH to get ratings with less competition.
