Episode 4.16 "You Call It Madness, But I Call It Love"
May 2, 2007

LUCAS FINDS OUT WHO KILLED KEITH — It will be an unforgettable Prom at
Tree Hill High when Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) discovers who was in the hallway
when Keith (Craig Sheffer, who does not appear in the episode) was killed. Meanwhile,
Peyton’s (Hilarie Burton) decision to skip Prom leads to dire consequences. Nathan
(James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galoetti) vow to be romantic teenagers at Prom,
while Dan (Paul Johansson) tries to win Karen’s (Moira Kelly) affections, as the witness
to his murder closes in. Barbara Alyn Woods, Danneel Harris and Lee Norris also star.
Tom Wright directed the episode written by Terrence Coli.

Timeline for 4.16
(thanks to "Sam" especially and also to an anonymous source)
  • Brooke is called "whore" by her fellow classmates.

  • Brooke approaches Lucas and he tells her that Peyton didn't answer the door when he went to her house. He tells her that he is sorry about her dress, and she says that she almost got it all out. Brooke is surprised that Lucas defended her in his argument with Peyton.

  • After her conversation with Lucas, Brooke leaves and Mouth is upset to be dateless again.

  • Derek sends Lucas a text message

  • Brooke goes looking for Peyton, enters through the back door and then looks in the basement. Derek then grabs her. (end of Act II)

  • Brooke/Peyton argue. I'm not sure if this to distract Derek or if it's for real. (end of Act III)

  • Peyton gets Derek to untie her.

  • Brooke somehow gets untied too, or she tries to get free.

  • Brooke/Peyton have the intense fight with Derek and defeat him. It's a great scene for H/S.

  • B/P return to the prom, with their dresses ripped and dirty. (dirty, probably not bloody, which makes sense since B/P are in the basement)

  • Brooke is crowned queen. Brooke gets dirty looks from the crowd. Peyton is extremely happy for her.

The following prom spoilers are credited to Ang:

  • Brooke/Peyton show up at the prom with their dresses ripped and stained with blood/dirt. But they're holding hands.

  • Lucas tries to cheer up Glenda who is upset about something.

  • Nathan/Haley arrive together at the prom and sit together. There doesn't appear to be any lasting animosity between them from ep. 14/15.

  • At the prom, Dan/Karen share some slow dances together. They seem very close, and are together in quite a few scenes. Whitey sees them and as usual confronts Dan about his motives. They have their usual sparring match. Whitey seems bothered about D/K being together. By the way, Deb is not there at all.

  • All of the guys except Mouth are dressed in black tuxes. Brooke is in a red dress and Peyton has her hair down and is wearing a white dress with a train. Karen is in a short red dress.

Other 4.16 information:

Lucas is upset to see Dan/Karen getting so close. He shares his concerns with Glenda.

Abby is the character who returns from 3.16. She gives Dan some weird looks at the prom. He gets some odd messages on his phone, I guess. This could be a misdirect. I guess we are supposed to think that Abby is sending him those messages, but it's not clear.
(credit to Rebecca)

Filming took place in the airport, where Rachel was getting ready to leave for New Orleans and Mouth was saying goodbye to her. They were filming while planes were landing, so it took a while to get the shots needed."(Credit to Summer)

Rachel crashes the prom and gets in trouble with Principal Turner. After Turner tries to throw Rachel out of the prom, she drops a piece of paper on the floor and Dan picks it up and looks interested.

Within Reason, a Birmingham rock band, has won the "Rock the Prom" contest and will appear on "One Tree Hill."Within Reason will play its original song, "Favorite Sin", as the prom band on an episode of "One Tree Hill."

Nathan and Haley leave the prom early and are not there when Brooke is crowned queen.

There was a scene shot on the rooftop of Karen's Cafe. N/H evidently go there after the prom. N/H take their predictions out of the wall. ( from 3.07) Nathan excitedly picks up Haley and spins her around. It's a great scene that is believed to be a part of the coda.

Episode 4.17. "It Gets The Worst At Night"
May 9, 2007

EPISODE SHOT ON LOCATION IN HONEY GROVE, TEXAS AS PART OF NATIONAL CONTEST — The teens of Tree Hill mount a rescue mission to retrieve Mouth (Lee Norris) from his ill-advised road trip with Rachel (Danneel Harris). While on the trip, Haley (Bethany Galeotti) and Nathan (James Lafferty) get a second chance to enjoy the prom, and Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Peyton (Hilarie Burton) decide to take their relationship to the next level. Brooke (Sophia Bush) tells Haley that she lied about stealing the calculus exam, and Nathan struggles with the residue of a past mistake. Barbara Alyn Woods, Paul Johansson and Moira Kelly also star. Greg Prange directed the episode written by Mark Schwahn and Jim Lee.

The episode opens with Lucas, Peyton, and Brooke all in the same bed.

The gang heads out to Texas to rescue Mouth. While there, their car breaks down and they try to make the best of it by crashing the prom at a local high school to make up for their disappointing TH prom. They buy prom threads at the local thrift shop. They are pleasantly surprised to run into Chris Keller who is performing at the prom as the result of the school winning a contest.

Chris/Brooke flirt with each other. At the HG prom, a lovestruck girl is mooning over Chris, and Brooke tells her that she slept with Chris. (Credit to Amanda)

James and Joy filmed a scene at the gazebo.

The gang is pleasantly surprised to run into Chris Keller in Honey Grove.

Nathan and Haley share a very sweet dance.

Brooke/Haley clash about the stolen test and Haley getting fired from the tutoring center.

Lucas/Peyton make love for the first time in 4.17.

A scene was filmed showing Peyton talking to Lucas in his motel room's doorway. (credit to kalita on L/P thread)

Tyler Hilton returns for a cameo as Chris Keller who performs at the Honey Grove prom.

James, Joy, Chad, Sophia, Hil, Lee and Antwon all filmed in Honey Grove, Texas and Paris, Texas.

This is the episode featuring the "OTH coming to your hometown contest". (Sunkist) The cast/crew are going to Honey Grove, Texas for filming. Supposedly the gang crashes a high school prom after they break down in a small town.

Haley and Brooke fight about the test, but they make up by the end of the episode.

Brooke walks in on LP's first time-not clear exactly when but it is known LP finish the job so that may give us some clues.

Brooke and Peyton share a scene where Brooke says something like "You remember when I said that we can't ever be like we were? I was wrong. We'll be better!"

Episode 4.18. "The Runaway Found."
May 16, 2007

Writer: Mark Schwahn
Director: David Jackson

The following spoilers are credited to "Sam"

  • Everything about Nathan and his dealings with Daunte is coming out in 4.18, and N/H will have to figure out how to deal with this regarding their future.

  • When Whitey is confronted by reporters, he's obviously angry and states something about how there's no way anyone can take away the state championship.

  • Whitey is extremely upset with Nathan and confronts him in the hallway. He even goes as far as to say that Nathan's actions affected his own brother. Haley observes the intense discussion and is concerned. Whitey leaves as Haley approaches. Nathan kind of reaches for Haley's hand for support.

  • At a press conference, Nathan, with Haley by his side, apologizes publicly to the school for shaving points and for his dealings with Daunte.

  • At school, Chase skateboards over to Brooke and kind of cuts her off in order to talk with her. They do end up having a conversation, but it's unclear if they are actually back together at this point. (My guess is no)

  • Also, at school, Peyton hallucinates that she sees bloody PsychoDerek. He's like standing there shirtless in his tux pants. Peyton tells Brooke that she wants to go to the jail to verify that PD is actually there.

  • Colin Fickes was on set to shoot some yearbook photos. I guess these will be shown later. Jimmy is in pics with Mouth, Fergie, and Junk. I'm not positive at this point if Jimmy is in any flashbacks/dreams in 4.18.

More 4.18 spoilers:

Peyton moves into N/H's old apartment after the PsychoDerek incident. Apparently, she is bothered enough by the latest battle with him that she wants out of the house. Brooke helps her out by painting the walls in the bedroom red.
(Credit to Steph)

Dan tries to stay one step ahead of Lucas as his son tries to question Abby about what she knows regarding Keith's death.

Episode 4.19
Date: TBA

The following spoilers are credited to Anonymous:

  • Nathan and Haley are walking on the Riverwalk, and everyone is giving him nasty looks and calling him a cheater. Haley comforts him and says that everything will be okay. This has to do with the Daunte stuff.

  • Haley/Whitey scene at his house on the porch: She asks for advice about the whole Nathan/Daunte thing.

  • At school, Haley is upset with Turner because he won't allow her to be valedictorian. She also says that it's not fair that she be punished for something Nathan did.

  • Nathan/Whitey's scene at the Rivercourt: Whitey yells at him and they talk about him losing the scholarship. But Whitey is also his usual fatherly self. He's angry but you know it's just because he looks after Nathan.

  • Nathan bursts into Turner's office to complain about Haley not being valedictorian. Nathan keeps saying that it isn't fair.

  • It's yearbook signing day. Mouth stands up on a table and announces that he has Jimmy's yearbook and he asks who wants to sign it. Mouth states that he is giving the yearbook to Jimmy's mother. Lucas is like the first person to go up to sign it. (remember my spoiler about how Colin had some pictures taken for the yearbook?)

  • Lucas/Peyton are apparently discussing college plans. I'm not positive of this, but that's what it sounds like. At school, they are being all cute and couply. Lucas tells her that she needs to follow her dreams and that he will wait for her.

  • Brooke is upset because apparently she told Gigi some confidential stuff and now everything she said is in the yearbook. Gigi is in the episode also.

  • There was also a jail scene with Dan filmed. (I don't know any details.)

More 4.19 Spoilers:

Whitey helps Nathan get his scholarship back.
(Credit: Becky)

Brooke and Chase are back together and very much in love.
(Credit to Amanda)

There was a classroom scene with Peyton/Brooke/Chase filmed.

Episode 4.20
Date: TBA

The Tree Hill High class of 2007 graduates. None of the parents are there. Haley is the valedictorian. The students sit alphabetically. Bevin trips on stage. N/L sit next to each other, and L/P are separated by one random person. Brooke sits behind Chase. Lucas and Peyton wear honors sashes. Rachel doesn't walk, because she's not there, but her name is called.

Haley goes into labor at the end of the episode. Her water breaks during her speech and Nathan runs up on stage to help her. Right at the end she says, "I have more to say, but I think I'm having my baby."

Bevin/Skills/Nathan scene at the River Court: Bevin says hello and goodbye to Nathan. Nathan/Skills talk about their parents and graduation.
(Credit to Steph)

Lucas/Haley scene in front of the hospital. Karen is in the hospital due to complications with her pregnancy. Unfortunately she has to miss the graduation ceremony, and Lucas is pretty upset about that. Haley gives Lucas a bound copy of his novel, a graduation gift from Karen.

Episode 4.21 "All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone"
June 13, 2007

Mark Schwahn wrote and directed the finale.

Shelly is in this episode
.

We will get to hear the rest of Haley's valedictorian speech.

The finale literally picks up right where 4.20 left off. Nathan is helping Haley into the ambulance. While she is on the stretcher, Haley drops a piece of paper (her speech) and Brooke picks it up. The speech comes up later in the episode. Brooke, Peyton, Mouth, and Skills are standing around N/H. In the ambulance, N/H discuss baby names.

Lucas gets a text message about his mom's condition, and he is upset. Peyton puts her arm around him to comfort him. (all from Brittany, who is posting pics in a little bit)
Also, from another source: I already mentioned the stuff about Lucas being in scrubs at the hospital. Unfortunately, Karen is in a coma. The baby is fine, of course, but the doctors do a c-section as earlier reported.

Lucas is in scrubs at the hospital so it appears that he goes into the operating room with his mom. I'm not positive of this. I know that there is a scene where N/L hug after Haley and Karen are wheeled into separate rooms.

Haley and Karen have their babies at the beginning of this episode.

There is a time jump of about 3 months at some point in the finale. After that, there is an end of the summer party.

In what is believed to be the final scene, there is a River Court basketball game between the boys and the girls.

Basketball game report: "They filmed two or three scenes and the first one was everyone (meaning Skills, Bevin, Peyton, Lucas, Brooke, Chase, Junk, Fergie, Haley, Nathan, Mouth, and Rachel) getting out of their cars and walking on to the Rivercourt. Lucas bounces the basketball and Peyton steals it and yells, "Boys versus girls!" This game goes on for a bit and each couple is guarding their significant other. This is a good scene for Brase, Naley, Leyton, and Routh fans. It was very cute! A little tidbit, Peyton continuously cheers Haley on when she gets the ball saying, "Go, Mama!"

The second scene was them all signing their name on the court but it only shows Bevin and Mouth signing (the rest were already written), and then there is a conversation between them all that we couldn't hear. Weirdly enough, Peyton and Rachel are standing next to each other and hugging throughout most of this scene and Lucas takes Peyton's hand and kisses it. Brooke and Chase also seem to be really in love at this time.

The third scene was all of them in the bleachers cheering Nathan and Lucas on as they play what looked like a one on one game...the whole game will not air though because they didn't shoot an entire game just Nathan making a basket."

(Thanks to TSOneTreeHillz)

Karen goes to the cemetery to show Keith his newborn child.

GENERAL SPOILERS

From a very reliable source: "It's certainly implied in future eps that Nathan still finds Haley sexy and it most certainly is implied (at the very least) that they are still geting it on. In fact I believe we are going to get at least a little taste of horny Haley."

From yet another source: Brooke/Peyton do end up living together in the apartment. We think that they actually discuss the situation in 4.17.

The N/H Baby name is James Lucas Scott.

Haley has her baby naturally. As earlier reported, Karen is in the hospital and there are some complications, so she has to have a c-section. Both babies are healthy and fine.

Karen does not lose her baby.

There are no baby showers for either Karen or Haley.

Danneel Harris returned to the set to film a couple more scenes for 4.16. She is not going to be in 17-20 for sure. But Rachel does return for the finale in a limited role.

Episode 4.20 will feature the graduation of the Tree Hill High students who have somehow managed to endure 2 school years in a 4 year span.

The Nathan/Brooke tryst will not ruin the B/H friendship.

Brooke and Peyton defeat PsychoDerek together and their friendship is stronger than ever.

Brooke and Chase's story will be about falling in love and about all of the romantic parts of a relationship.

Matt Barr (PsychoDerek) will be in episodes 15, 16, 17, and 18.

Allison Scagliotti-Smith as Abby(3.16) is returning for three episodes starting in 4.16. (Credit to dolcegrazia)

TV Guide interview with Mark Schwahn on January 17, right before episode 4.11

TVGuide.com: The show definitely left off on a different note before the holidays, when deceased Keith (Craig Sheffer) returned to enlighten Lucas. What made you do that sort of episode?

Mark Schwahn: We usually go into our hiatuses with big cliff-hangers, but as you know, the week before had all the cliff-hangers — the big car accident with Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), and Lucas' heart attack. Normally that's where we would leave the audience, but this is our fourth season, and I just felt like we didn't have an opportunity to play Christmas because [it's] actually spring in the lives of the kids in Tree Hill. Around the holidays, people miss their loved ones, and I wanted to write an episode that told those people it was going to be OK. A couple of people said, "Why is It's a Wonderful Life on the TV in the hospital if it's spring?" I wanted to remind the audience and the people of Tree Hill that it is a wonderful life.

TVGuide.com: And then at the end we see Lucas open his eyes, so we know he's awake. The main question I was left with was whether he'd remember that he had that experience.

Schwahn: His journey, certainly in the next handful of episodes, is in coming to terms with what he saw. When you're visited by a dead uncle while you're unconscious, do you act on the things you saw? Do you believe them?

TVGuide.com: But at the same time, Nathan (James Lafferty) has been having visions, trying to remember what happened at the bridge a while back. Will he and Lucas bond over seeing Keith?

Schwahn: We use Peyton (Hilarie Burton) as more of a conduit for Lucas to cycle through all of these things, because Peyton has had so much loss in her life. And it was her who said to Nathan — when he told her at Rachel's house party that he had seen Keith — "Do you not believe it could happen, or do you not believe it could happen to you?" If anybody had a stake in believing that you could see people you have lost, it would be Peyton. It's a very smart instinct to bring Nathan and Lucas together over this, but Lucas shared a kiss and confessed his feelings for Peyton. Now what are they going to be?

TVGuide.com: Right, is it going to make them stronger together?

Schwahn: Well, I think it has the opportunity to. They're two kids that carry around the weight of the world quite a bit. Can they agree together to let go of that weight? The theme for Lucas and Peyton is, "How do you learn to be happy when you've spent so much time carrying grief around? Do you feel guilty for being happy? Is it OK to let it go, especially when you're 17?" Does he have a responsibility to act on the things that he saw, and should he take them to Karen (Moira Kelly), open up those wounds for her again, based on, what, a dream?

TVGuide.com: As far as Nathan and Haley go, I thought for a minute that you might have her lose the baby because of the car accident. Was that ever a consideration?

Schwahn: I love Nathan and Haley, and most of our audience does as well. If we let them be happy, they'd probably be bored, but I never considered having her lose the baby. She would be losing it because of the decisions and mistakes that Nathan had made, and I just didn't feel like they could recover from that.

TVGuide.com: This week, Haley discovers Nathan's dealings with Daunte, which caused the accident. Is that going to break them apart?

Schwahn: In a refreshing turn for Tree Hill, he's going to tell her the truth! [Laughs] She's going to struggle with his deception — not to the degree that our misdirected promo department will lead you to believe — but she certainly has issues with his decision-making. It's a pretty satisfying arc for them. Ultimately, I think that Nathan and Haley, as a couple, can weather almost any storm.

TVGuide.com: And meanwhile, Dan (Paul Johansson) is facing murder charges, sitting pretty in jail after taking the blame from Nathan. Is he finally going to be punished for a lifetime of cruelty, even if this particular accident wasn't his fault?

Schwahn: Probably not. [Laughs] Here's what's really interesting: He may flip out of this one. It may be because he's pulling strings, it may not be. I feel that he took the fall for Nathan because he's healing himself for murdering his brother. If he is set free, that may be the worst thing to happen to Dan.

TVGuide.com: That's true. He's really haunted.

Schwahn: He's very haunted, and it's almost like he's trying to punish himself without saying, "I murdered my brother," because he knows he could never recover from that. If set free, it's almost like he's in his own personal prison.

TVGuide.com: I thought the truth about Dan killing Keith might come out when Lucas revisited the high-school shooting scene. Is that secret going to come out, or what?

Schwahn: That secret will come out.

TVGuide.com: This season?

Schwahn: Yes, this season. I don't know if it will come out before the next hiatus, though.

TVGuide.com: It's so frustrating to watch!

Schwahn: It's a delicate balance. How long do you drag it out? Is there a point where the audience is simply frustrated, or are they still intrigued and putting the pieces together? There is a person who knows the truth and [that person] will turn up the heat. Increasingly, Dan will find that his world is shrinking in terms of the deceit he carries around.

TVGuide.com: If Dan gets out of jail, will we see more of him getting closer to Karen? It's kind of creepy that he's been inching his way back into her life while she's pregnant with his dead brother's baby.

Schwahn: I know, it is creepy, because the audience knows the truth. But I really don't suffer Karen for the choices she's making, because she is in a vulnerable position and she doesn't have many people to turn to. Deb's pill addiction is taking her out of the friendship loop, and Karen finds herself isolated with another pregnancy, similar to where she was 17 years ago — and the guy who abandoned her then is available to her [now] emotionally.

TVGuide.com: Are we going to come full circle here?

Schwahn: What I'm compelled by is [the fact that] as they grow closer, the truth about Dan murdering Keith grows closer as well, and that's going to lead to some explosive things.

TVGuide.com: Is Keith going to visit the Tree Hill gang again?

Schwahn: He might. I actually have a scenario where we would see Keith again. I don't know if we're going to do it, but there's a possibility.

TVGuide.com: Is the Brooke/Peyton/Lucas triangle going to continue, or will Brooke (Sophia Bush) have a separate story line?

Schwahn: Brooke's story line right now is that she's failing calculus and she's going to decide not to cheat but to study. She's going to learn, in her words, that she's "Brooke smart" and not book smart, at which point she and Rachel are going to set their sights on stealing the calculus exams. That story line intersects with Shelly (Elisabeth Harnois), the leader of Clean Teens, who we met earlier in the year. There's a new member of Clean Teens, Chase, played by Stephen Coletti from Laguna Beach, and Brooke's going to take an interest in him. At that point, we'll find out how dedicated he is to a life of abstinence. [Laughs] There is a huge fan base dedicated to Brooke and Lucas, and sometimes [those people] feel a bit betrayed, just as the fan base dedicated to Peyton and Lucas felt betrayed. That tells me that we've done things correctly — that's the strength of a love triangle. Peyton spent a really authentic time with Jake, and I think that Brooke could spend a really authentic time with another character, which doesn't necessarily mean she won't find her way back to Lucas or he won't find his way to her.

TVGuide.com: Do you know if the show will be on next season?

Schwahn: No, I don't, and if you can find out for me.... [Laughs] I've talked about jumping the show ahead five years and skipping college if we come back next season. It's unprecedented and it's never been done, and I think it would be a really compelling journey to take. It doesn't mean we wouldn't go back and dedicate entire episodes and substantial moments to nights in college that affected where they are now.

TVGuide.com: I think I would want to see that!

Schwahn: Well, I would want to write it. When most of these shows go to college, it's hard to create the energy and enthusiasm for their journeys, but as a storyteller, there's such a sense of excitement to tell those stories. I think it would reinvigorate the show in a really good way, so hopefully the CW will see the merits in it.

Ok, I think everything has been updated in the opening posts. I added the new pics too.

Oh and with the title I looked at two transcripts from the ep "Spirit In The Night" and even listened to the scene to get Jake's exact line. Haha I so loved when he said that and I think it's very fitting for the new NH stuff and ofcourse BLP all in bed together. Plus, let's not forget Brooke actually walking in on LP finalley doing the deed.

we haven't seen any interaction that possesses a good friendship yet, so there may be scenes leading up to them moving intogether that may make us feel better about the move. and last time brooke moved out b/c peyton confessed her feelings. i can't see any betrayl happening this go around.

and how lucas/peyton/brooke ending up in the same bed at the same time just drives me insane on how that came together.

yeah - so first we get brooke helping save peyton from psycho derek. then her, lucas and peyton end up in bed together. then she moves out, and brooke moves in with her. then brooke walks in on them...
man, thats just over done!!
hopefully it works out better in the episodes than it sounds now...
haley and nathan finally discuss names - yay!
karen in a coma?? sounds sad..
and haley being horny - sounds funny

so looking forward to actually getting to see these, even if the writing may seem to be missing something...

It's official guys, Mark has completely lost his mind
This ongoing recycling of storylines is getting so old, how many times can Brooke walk in on LP getting it on? How many times can she move out of a place and move in with someone else?
Please, find something new to write.

Is there any chance that some of these spoilers are the false ones that were apparently being spread? I thought there was a big push for as much false info to be leaked as possible just to confuse the few of us that are spoiled - wow I feel so special.

I feel kind of bad for all the poor unspoiled people who are gonna watch the rest of the season unfold without any warning.

BLAH at these BLP/BP shiz spoilers.

Seriously I know BL fans are pissed as hell right now and I could imagine LP fans being just as pissed about Brooke having to walk in on them, BP moving in together and all other shiz thats heading our way.

Way to go Markie and the funky bunch.
