Episode 4.13 "Pictures of You"
February 07, 2007

CAN ONE DAY CHANGE EVERYTHING? — A class assignment reveals the deepest secrets and desires of Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and the students at Tree Hill High. Worried about college prospects, Skills (Antwon Tanner) turns to Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), while Nathan (James Lafferty) wrestles with Deb’s (Barbara Alyn Woods) suicide attempt. Chase (guest star Stephen Colletti, “Laguna Beach”) learns that Brooke (Sophia Bush) cheated on her calculus exam, while nudity and drugs run rampant in the halls of the school. Paul Johansson, Moira Kelly, Lee Norris and Danneel Harris also star. Les Butler directed the episode written by Mark Schwahn.

TV Guide.com Description: The kids partner up for an eye-opening school assignment that involves divulging personal information and learning how others see them

TV Guide Print Description: All hell's breaking loose as the kids begin to freak out over getting into their dream colleges. But while Skills takes the high road and recruits "tutor girl" Haley, some of his classmates hit new lows while trying to deal with the pressure.

The pairings for the school project are:
Nathan/Peyton
Lucas/Glenda
Brooke/Chase
Bevin/Rachel
Skills/Haley

Nathan tells Peyton that he is scared to death to be a father.

Haley feels her baby kick for the first time.

Glenda (3.16 and 4.04) returns and shares a scene with Lucas at school. Apparently, kids are making fun of Glenda in class and Lucas runs after her to talk with her.

Episode 4.14 "Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers"
February 14, 2007

STEPHEN COLLETTI (“LAGUNA BEACH”) GUEST STARS — Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) confronts Brooke (Sophia Bush) regarding the stolen calculus test. Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Peyton (Hilarie Burton) consider taking their relationship to the next level as Peyton and Brooke grow closer. In Deb's (Barbara Alyn Woods) absence, Nathan (James Lafferty) throws a senior party at the Scott House where a sex tape from Nathan's past surfaces. Paul Johansson, Moira Kelly, Lee Norris and Danneel Harris also star. Janice Cooke directed the episode written by William H. Brown.

TV Guide.com Description: Haley questions Brooke about the stolen calculus test. Meanwhile, Lucas and Peyton's romance intensifies; and a party Nathan throws at Deb's house leads to the discovery of a sex tape from his past.

It is revealed that Brooke and Nathan slept together way back when N/P were a couple. This revelation will have a ripple effect on most of the core relationships.
(Credit to SusanXG)

At the senior party, Skills puts in a tape that he believes to be basketball highlights. It is then that everyone sees the N/B "act".
(Credit to Summer)

After part of the tape is shown, Brooke turns to Nathan and asks him, "That really happened? I was so drunk that night I thought I had dreamt all of it.Brooke is fully aware Nathan is taping them. They are both very drunk, but they BOTH are aware of the camera at the time. They may forget after the fact due to all the alcohol, but at the time of the taping they both knew the camera was rolling. There was a scene filmed with Nathan/Brooke kissing. We will only see kissing, nothing more. They are both shirtless. Brooke is in a bra.
(Credit to Rebecca)

"Haley slaps Rachel and confronts her about the stolen test and how she went after Nathan earlier this season.Peyton punches Brooke in front of everyone because she slept with Nathan when he was dating Peyton. There's a sex tape. The extras were told to "react" to the tape although nothing was shown at the time, so it's feasible to believe clips of this tape will be edited into the footage for the episode. The party's at the Scott house, and from the way it sounded, Nathan and Haley may be moving into the house. This can't be confirmed as it was only implied, but it would make sense with Deb's problems."

Lucas and Peyton become very passionate at the party, but their special moment is interrupted by the commotion about the tape.

Episode 4.15 "Prom Night at Hater High"
February 21, 2007

YOU NEVER FORGET YOUR PROM ─ On the day of Prom, the residue of Nathan's (James Lafferty) pre-Prom party has serious repercussions for everyone in Tree Hill. Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) asks Nathan for a list of his past sexual conquests. Rachel (Danneel Harris) is suspended after taking the blame for the exam she stole with Brooke (Sophia Bush). Peyton (Hilarie Burton) tells Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) she wants to skip the Prom entirely, but he refuses to take no for an answer. Finally Mouth (Lee Norris) and Brooke must deal with dating Clean Teens on Prom night. Moira Kelly, Paul Johansson and Barbara Alyn Woods also star. Paul Johansson directed the episode written by Mike Herro and David Strauss.

This episode is the morning of the prom.

There was a flashback scene filmed for the Nathan/Brooke pre-story, but it is not a sex scene. It's at the beginning of the episode.

It is revealed that Nathan and Brooke were both drunk when they slept together. Apparently, Brooke was more so than Nathan. Also, it is revealed that their tryst happened after Nathan and Peyton had just broken up for like the 100th time in their relationship.

Episode 4.16 "You Call It Madness, But I Call It Love"

Writer: Terrence Coli

Rachel takes the fall for Brooke regarding the whole test/cheating/key thing. Rachel ends up getting expelled.

"Filming took place in the airport, where Rachel was getting ready to leave for New Orleans and Mouth was saying goodbye to her. They were filming while planes were landing, so it took a while to get the shots needed."
(Credit to Summer)

No one's prom turns out the way they think it would.

Brooke and Peyton overcome PsychoDerek in a knockdown, bloody fight before they ever even get to the prom. Their appearance when they arrive surprises everyone.

Dan and Karen are together at the prom, just like old times.

Luke tries to cheer up Glenda who is upset about something.

Mouth is dressed in a white tux; the other guys are in black.

Brooke is in a red dress; Peyton has her hair down and is in a white dress with a train.

Within Reason, a Birmingham rock band, has won the "Rock the Prom" contest and will appear on "One Tree Hill."Within Reason will play its original song, "Hold," as the prom band on an episode of "One Tree Hill."

Episode 4.17

Writer: Mark Schwahn

This is the episode featuring the "OTH coming to your hometown contest". (Sunkist) The cast/crew are going to Honey Grove, Texas for filming. No details yet on the storyline for this road trip.

******************************************************************
GENERAL SPOILERS

Brooke and Peyton defeat PsychoDerek together and their friendship is stronger than ever.

The Nathan/Brooke tryst will not ruin the B/H friendship.

Brooke and Chase's story will be about falling in love and about all of the romantic parts of a relationship.

Sunkist is sponsoring "One Tree Hill coming to someone's home town" to do an episode. The rumor about N/H visiting her parents, unfortunately, isn't true. The studio wouldn't pay Huey Lewis and Bess Armstrong the money for their return appearance. (from Curlyhead )

"From what I've heard we will see Nathan as the calm one about the pregnancy at times. I actually got the words that he was "running around like Super Dad." They are going to be there for each other but they will have their realistic struggles." (Duck Girl at 911)

Quote from Sophia Bush to Kristen @ E.:
"We are stirring the pot! It is heavy. It is drama packed. It's going to be really exciting. And I can't reveal anything, because if I reveal one detail, the whole web will unfold!" This is what Sophia Bush tells me of the new season of One Tree Hill. But when asked whom she wants her character to be with, she cracks just a smidge. "You know, I think my character might just end up with somebody new by the end of the season. I'm hearing rumblings!"

Elisabeth Harnois (Shelly, 4.04) will be returning for three episodes: 12, 13 and 14.

JJ Redick is not making any appearances on OTH as of 1/9/07. We will inform you if the show makes a deal with him.

TV Guide interview with Mark Schwahn on January 17, right before episode 4.11

TVGuide.com: The show definitely left off on a different note before the holidays, when deceased Keith (Craig Sheffer) returned to enlighten Lucas. What made you do that sort of episode?

Mark Schwahn: We usually go into our hiatuses with big cliff-hangers, but as you know, the week before had all the cliff-hangers — the big car accident with Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), and Lucas' heart attack. Normally that's where we would leave the audience, but this is our fourth season, and I just felt like we didn't have an opportunity to play Christmas because [it's] actually spring in the lives of the kids in Tree Hill. Around the holidays, people miss their loved ones, and I wanted to write an episode that told those people it was going to be OK. A couple of people said, "Why is It's a Wonderful Life on the TV in the hospital if it's spring?" I wanted to remind the audience and the people of Tree Hill that it is a wonderful life.

TVGuide.com: And then at the end we see Lucas open his eyes, so we know he's awake. The main question I was left with was whether he'd remember that he had that experience.

Schwahn: His journey, certainly in the next handful of episodes, is in coming to terms with what he saw. When you're visited by a dead uncle while you're unconscious, do you act on the things you saw? Do you believe them?

TVGuide.com: But at the same time, Nathan (James Lafferty) has been having visions, trying to remember what happened at the bridge a while back. Will he and Lucas bond over seeing Keith?

Schwahn: We use Peyton (Hilarie Burton) as more of a conduit for Lucas to cycle through all of these things, because Peyton has had so much loss in her life. And it was her who said to Nathan — when he told her at Rachel's house party that he had seen Keith — "Do you not believe it could happen, or do you not believe it could happen to you?" If anybody had a stake in believing that you could see people you have lost, it would be Peyton. It's a very smart instinct to bring Nathan and Lucas together over this, but Lucas shared a kiss and confessed his feelings for Peyton. Now what are they going to be?

TVGuide.com: Right, is it going to make them stronger together?

Schwahn: Well, I think it has the opportunity to. They're two kids that carry around the weight of the world quite a bit. Can they agree together to let go of that weight? The theme for Lucas and Peyton is, "How do you learn to be happy when you've spent so much time carrying grief around? Do you feel guilty for being happy? Is it OK to let it go, especially when you're 17?" Does he have a responsibility to act on the things that he saw, and should he take them to Karen (Moira Kelly), open up those wounds for her again, based on, what, a dream?

TVGuide.com: As far as Nathan and Haley go, I thought for a minute that you might have her lose the baby because of the car accident. Was that ever a consideration?

Schwahn: I love Nathan and Haley, and most of our audience does as well. If we let them be happy, they'd probably be bored, but I never considered having her lose the baby. She would be losing it because of the decisions and mistakes that Nathan had made, and I just didn't feel like they could recover from that.

TVGuide.com: This week, Haley discovers Nathan's dealings with Daunte, which caused the accident. Is that going to break them apart?

Schwahn: In a refreshing turn for Tree Hill, he's going to tell her the truth! [Laughs] She's going to struggle with his deception — not to the degree that our misdirected promo department will lead you to believe — but she certainly has issues with his decision-making. It's a pretty satisfying arc for them. Ultimately, I think that Nathan and Haley, as a couple, can weather almost any storm.

TVGuide.com: And meanwhile, Dan (Paul Johansson) is facing murder charges, sitting pretty in jail after taking the blame from Nathan. Is he finally going to be punished for a lifetime of cruelty, even if this particular accident wasn't his fault?

Schwahn: Probably not. [Laughs] Here's what's really interesting: He may flip out of this one. It may be because he's pulling strings, it may not be. I feel that he took the fall for Nathan because he's healing himself for murdering his brother. If he is set free, that may be the worst thing to happen to Dan.

TVGuide.com: That's true. He's really haunted.

Schwahn: He's very haunted, and it's almost like he's trying to punish himself without saying, "I murdered my brother," because he knows he could never recover from that. If set free, it's almost like he's in his own personal prison.

TVGuide.com: I thought the truth about Dan killing Keith might come out when Lucas revisited the high-school shooting scene. Is that secret going to come out, or what?

Schwahn: That secret will come out.

TVGuide.com: This season?

Schwahn: Yes, this season. I don't know if it will come out before the next hiatus, though.

TVGuide.com: It's so frustrating to watch!

Schwahn: It's a delicate balance. How long do you drag it out? Is there a point where the audience is simply frustrated, or are they still intrigued and putting the pieces together? There is a person who knows the truth and [that person] will turn up the heat. Increasingly, Dan will find that his world is shrinking in terms of the deceit he carries around.

TVGuide.com: If Dan gets out of jail, will we see more of him getting closer to Karen? It's kind of creepy that he's been inching his way back into her life while she's pregnant with his dead brother's baby.

Schwahn: I know, it is creepy, because the audience knows the truth. But I really don't suffer Karen for the choices she's making, because she is in a vulnerable position and she doesn't have many people to turn to. Deb's pill addiction is taking her out of the friendship loop, and Karen finds herself isolated with another pregnancy, similar to where she was 17 years ago — and the guy who abandoned her then is available to her [now] emotionally.

TVGuide.com: Are we going to come full circle here?

Schwahn: What I'm compelled by is [the fact that] as they grow closer, the truth about Dan murdering Keith grows closer as well, and that's going to lead to some explosive things.

TVGuide.com: Is Keith going to visit the Tree Hill gang again?

Schwahn: He might. I actually have a scenario where we would see Keith again. I don't know if we're going to do it, but there's a possibility.

TVGuide.com: Is the Brooke/Peyton/Lucas triangle going to continue, or will Brooke (Sophia Bush) have a separate story line?

Schwahn: Brooke's story line right now is that she's failing calculus and she's going to decide not to cheat but to study. She's going to learn, in her words, that she's "Brooke smart" and not book smart, at which point she and Rachel are going to set their sights on stealing the calculus exams. That story line intersects with Shelly (Elisabeth Harnois), the leader of Clean Teens, who we met earlier in the year. There's a new member of Clean Teens, Chase, played by Stephen Coletti from Laguna Beach, and Brooke's going to take an interest in him. At that point, we'll find out how dedicated he is to a life of abstinence. [Laughs] There is a huge fan base dedicated to Brooke and Lucas, and sometimes [those people] feel a bit betrayed, just as the fan base dedicated to Peyton and Lucas felt betrayed. That tells me that we've done things correctly — that's the strength of a love triangle. Peyton spent a really authentic time with Jake, and I think that Brooke could spend a really authentic time with another character, which doesn't necessarily mean she won't find her way back to Lucas or he won't find his way to her.

TVGuide.com: Do you know if the show will be on next season?

Schwahn: No, I don't, and if you can find out for me.... [Laughs] I've talked about jumping the show ahead five years and skipping college if we come back next season. It's unprecedented and it's never been done, and I think it would be a really compelling journey to take. It doesn't mean we wouldn't go back and dedicate entire episodes and substantial moments to nights in college that affected where they are now.

TVGuide.com: I think I would want to see that!

Schwahn: Well, I would want to write it. When most of these shows go to college, it's hard to create the energy and enthusiasm for their journeys, but as a storyteller, there's such a sense of excitement to tell those stories. I think it would reinvigorate the show in a really good way, so hopefully the CW will see the merits in it.

Ooo, I love Buffy. I think I'll watch "Homecoming" tonight! Eee!

I need an icon from that scene. *off to look*

From the last thread:

Syler- Umm...Nathan and Peyton didn't date that long. Mark said back in season one that they only started dating the summer before junior year. So...umm they definitely weren't dating freshman year.

I'm actually happy with the Brooke and Peyton as Buffy and Cordy scenario, because it seems that is confirmed that FINALLY, Lucas won't be the hero.

Peyton -- I honestly cannot see how it would be any surprise that Peyton is the Prom Queen. My being a LP fan is certainly no factor in this, as I don't really care if she wins it or not. It has to do with the fact that Peyton was (is) very popular, and I'm certain that type of popularity didn't just vanish. She's the rocker-chick, but popularity is her burden. She dated the most popular guy (Nathan) in High School since 11th grade (the show will remind us). They were an on again/off again couple, as their breakups were probably normal gossip..and continued all the way to the 11th grade. Peyton was best friends with Brooke, who was (is) captain of the cheerleading team. They were basically the IT CLICK, as Broke even asked Peyton, when Peyton and Haley started bonding as Haley was still an outcast, "You two don't really think you're going to be friends tommorow, do you?" Meaning Peyton was a part of the IT click, but Haley was an outsider.

Brooke -- I don't see why the reaction would be any surprise in Brooke being Prom Queen, because I've stated above, she was part of that click with Peyton, and Brooke is Captain of The Cheerleading Team...and Class President. She loves her popularity, and bathes in it. Loved seeking out guys for her conquests. Changed along the way of knowing Lucas and Haley and became a more likeable person to people, as before it was mentioned that she wasn't that great of a person in her past. And most likely is more popular than Peyton now, though I don't feel that she was in Season 1.

Haley -- Haley became popular when she and Nathan fell in love, and the school quickly became totally aware of her. In Season 3, she got some bitch hate from jealous girls in school after her music tour, but I'm certain that everyone still knows who she is, and the majority of people are probably still fine with her. Plus, shes a great tutor.

So people expressing surprise at any of the girls being Prom Queen puzzles me, quite Frankly. Peyton was popular in Season 1 and is dating Lucas now, another major popular guy, as Lucas became a part of the popular crowd after a while. Brooke is popular, was dating Lucas also. And Haley became quite known, popular as well.

So this "audience expresses surprise over who wins Prom Queen" must be...

1: Something to do with Haley being pregnant and getting selected, if it's her...although I don't see what the big deal is about a pregnant girl getting picked. But it is High School, and High School is hell, and I know people in High School can call pregnant girls awful names, but everyone knows Haley is married, thus saying "****" doesn't fit her. I don't see why any girl would feel the need to call another girl "****" just because they are pregnant in High School anyway.

2: Something to do with the Nathan and Brooke scandal, and it's weird to some people at prom seeing Brooke win, after that whole ordeal.

3: It's Shelly, for whatever reason, who wins.

4: This is weird, but both girls win it? Um...Nah.

5. The semi-bloody Prom dress of either Peyton or Brooke after their fight with Psycho Derek?

Oh, I'm not sure what this expressing surprise over who is Prom Queen exactly means.

I fixed my post, Susan.

I guess when Peyton mentioned their Freshmen year as if they were "smitten" with each other even then, she meant friendship. She was just speaking of friendship.

When did she even mention freshman year? The only time I remember her bringing up freshman year to him was because he broke his leg or something. I assume they were all part of the same circle since junior high, but Nathan was apparently too cliche for Peyton for a long time (according to Mark). I don't think they were really "sweet" on each other because Nathan was too busy whoring it up...at least not until right before they started dating.
