Gilmore Girls Spoilers ~ We Break For No One, Not Even The Show!

Hi everyone. I’d like to remind you all that this is the main Gilmore Girls spoiler thread, and as such, posters from various shipper groups are free to post here, so if you see someone saying something that you don’t like about “your” favorite character or couple, don’t start fighting with them on this thread, and don’t go into a Gilmore Girls shipper thread if you don’t like the couple that the shipper thread is for. People are free to criticize upcoming events on Gilmore Girls as they read the upcoming spoilers, but don’t use this thread as a free-for-all to bash any characters or couples that you don’t like, or their fans, or you’ll find that you’ll be deprived of the privilege of reading and speculating about Gilmore Girls spoilers again here. Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

And speaking of a communicatively challenged couple:
One of the things I would have liked to see more of was Emily and Richard after the Birthday. I thought it was interesting that he was all "Rory will be nothing. We should have listened to Lorelai." And, this was the interesting thing to me, Emily says she was willing to go along with Lorelai, but Richard changed the plan. Also, I still feel like he has no respect for what she actually does for him. Grr. Maybe we will get more on wrapping that up, because it really was glossed over in Come Home. As crazy as Emily can make me, I only remember Lorelai saying that what she did is important and that she has accomplished something (SIAM). It would really make me happy to see Richard acknowledge that, even if it is only a brief moment.
Emily's line about how Richard meant that he did not want Rory to grow up to be like Emily - and how hurt she sounded after that...

I have always anted them to follow up on that. For Richard (and the rest of the family) to acknowledge how much Emily has done for his career. In faact, how much she has done period. They mock her volunteer work (especially Lorelai) but trust me - as someone who comes from a long line of women who that is what they do - volunteers' work can be a lot more work that a "real" job. My mother works more than 40 hours a week at her volunteers jobs. And let's face it - Emily could have been successful in anything that she choose (imagine her at a corporate lawyer?!) - and she chose to be a corporate wife. To Richard's benefit.

To some extent Richard looks down on Emily, even if he does not realize it. And Lord knows that Lorelai does - and makes sure that therest of the world knows as she airs her dirty laundry in public.

But I also find Lorelai most likely to defend Emily's lifestyle to others. She is also the only one to say that Emily had accomplished something. (SIAM)

It's like Scully. She was fine with crawling all over Mulder for being a gullible idiot, but don't let someone else go there, IMO.

Hooray!

Congrats Gen! Cheerio and all that good stuff! As always, thanx for the thread, and thanx to those who voted for the title. Sher, little secret between me, you, and everyone we sort of know; I suck with names. So, if I shorten them, it's easier for me not to screw them up. SO, now you know, and knowing is half the battle...GIL-MORE-GIRRRRRRLLLLLLLSSSSS!

Sorry. Couldn't resist. Seriously. Nice to see everyone here has calmed down from the post-fianle hysteria. Time makes things seem a little less urgent.

What I do want to see next season overall actually has little to do with any of the potential couplings. Though I do hope they explore Lorelai / Chris somewhat to give us a little background to what happened at the start of the show and to make the season finale something meaningful and not just a stunt.

What I do want to see would be for example some reconcilation between Lorelai and the grandparents. Some growth on Lorelai's part where she can understand what her parents went through and begin to forgive them and stop seeing them as villains. And likewise for the grandparents. I was hoping that Rory moving out after messing up would let Lorelai draw some parallels to her own experience and her grandparents experience. Instead of course we just got Lorelai and Rory bonding over how "evil" Emily and Richard are.

With Rory I'm far more interested in what she plans to do with her life than who she ends up with. In fact for me the worst case scenario as far as a season finale would be if they pull a Dawson's Creek and bring back Jess and Dean so we can have a cheesy "cliffhanger" on who she chooses to be with. What I do want to see is us finally getting to see some of Rory's campus life and her starting to question what she REALLY wants to do now that Yale is ending and she's forced to make her own decisions once she can no longer just coast by on auto-pilot.

Jess was was never part of the calculus when Rory was choosing where to go to college. And I really don't see it in her to let her romantic involvements play much of a decision on what her path holds for her next whether it is grad school or starting out in a small newspaper. (Luckily now that ASP is gone we'll be spared her instantly becoming a star reporter for CNN or the New York Times) I want to see Rory actually think about where she is and what she wants to do. Another missed opportunity with the whole dropping out storyline. She hardly thought a wiff about it just doing basically nothing (while learning nothing from community service) before going back to what she was doing before she dropped out after a fight with Emily and her boyfriend.

For example I think an academic life is probably better suited for Rory than being a journalist. Rory has options (besides living in the poolhouse) and she never takes a moment ever to ponder them.

For Luke I'm most interested in the storyline with April. I want to see him establish himself enough as a father that he won't be able to be pushed around by Anna anymore. Where he'll be less hesitant and Anna will know if she separated him from April she risked a backlash from April and a real fight on her hands. I actually don't want a conflict between Anna and Luke. Just more respect. And more bonding for April and Luke.

Luke making himself a "better person" for April for me is a more compelling storyline than him necessarily making himself a better person for Lorelai. In fact if they develop it well enough they could even spinoff it off.

With Chris I want them to finally give us an actual portrait of him and not use him as a plot device. Find out what his job really is. How he goes about his business. How he lives his life. Show him an actual human. Let him bond with his daughter Rory like he did first, second, and even third season. Whether him and Lorelai or meant to be or not finally let him be an actual human aspiring to and sometimes succeeding at being better. He built a pretty nice life for himself even before his dad died so he isn't a complete incompetent loser. Hopefully with ASP gone we'll see that.

Quite frankly I care about all that far more than whether anyone on the show has a "surprise" wedding.

I agree with you Raja I do not want Rory deciding to be with Jess/Dean at the end of the finale I got sick of that triangle in season 4. Especially since I think she found someone way better. I know you hate him Raja but I love Logan. I like Rory to bond with Chris. I do want GG to go back to the family aspect with the Emily and Lorelai relationship.

Please describe exactly what you want to see because I think we have seen her on campus -- in class, taking tests, in her dorm, at the football game, in the cafeteria, at the Yale Daily News, in the laundry room, studying everywhere including under a tree. Students basically take classes and study. There's only so many storylines you can create out of those two activities.

That's because she didn't want to go to college in a strip mall next to a Walmart.

The thing is, as many people get older, their relationships with their significant others get more and more serious. Sometimes they live together and/or get married. And so, it does stand to reason that a more serious relationship may be a factor in one's career/life choice decisions. Certainly, Logan brought Rory into his decision as to whether he would go to London.

His name is Logan.

As for what she really wants to do, I suppose what she really wants to do is be a journalist since she went back to it more determined and with greater confidence.

I wanted Luke and Lorelai to be happy, living together and married. But not the focus of the show, that was part of the problem with breaking up Rory and Lorelai for 9 eps. They had to fall back to Luke an& Lorelai, and Rory & Logan and less on the 3 Gilmore girls together.

I want both girls to be happy and as a JJ that Luke for Lorelai but it doesn't have to take over the show or put Luke off to the side and with Anna and April he can have his own SL when not with Lorelai. As for Rory I don't really have an opinion but I do think at this stage she'll be with Logan next season and I doubt we'll have all his eps with him just on the phone to Rory.

I want to see more of Rory at Yale with Paris and the paper and more with Emily and Richard out of school hours.

I want Chris to be there for Rory once the stuff with Lorelai is resolved. I don't need to see more of his work or home live usless it's early on with Lorelai and working through what happened in the season final.

I want more townies but not the pointless "pot plot" we got from Sookie and Jackson in DMG. I want Sookie to be Lorelai's best friend and to support Lorelai and maybe help her get back with Luke.

I want Emily of season 6 to stay and support Lorelai in her choices.

YES!!!!! Rory dropped out of Yale without much thought and she entered back in with complete ease. More time was spent on Logan's cheating storyline than Rory entering back into Yale. And that's just a shame!!!!!!!! AH!!! Okay, *breathes*

The only thing we saw her working for was her job at the paper, and that was just thrown away when Amy needed a way to bond Rory/Logan. Then..boom..Rory took the paper over as Paris somehow became psycho!editor (um, hello..watch earlier seasons when Paris is an editor at Chilton and she is not even close to acting that way...she was bitchy and in charge! absurd!). And please, don't get me started on the absurdity of that Rory becomes Yale editor overnight episode. Wouldn't you think Yale would frown upon a student who not only dropped out suddenly, but also stole a yacht? AHHH! *breathes* God, what happened to Rory? To Lorelai? This show? *breathes*

I want old Rory back, but with new Rory around and Logan. That doesn't make a lick of sense.

The show lost its essence; it got stupid when they put way too much emphasis on the relationships. Before they were always just in he background, now that's all it's about... Rory and Logan, Luke and Lorelai... and freaking DRAMA. Richard and Emily are always missing, Rory and Lorelai are never around each other, and even when they are it's for like four seconds. And where are the damn town meetings?

Okay, I'm a ******ing hater. And proud. I wear my ******ing hater t-shirt proudly.

Thank you TheJSW for that phrase. It makes me laugh.

Word. And now my head hurts..you beat me. Heh.

I want to see Rory doing an assignment for the paper, like have that be most of her sl for an entire episode. Meeting new people. Doing research for a class. And don't tell me they couldn't do that, since they wasted so much time this season on having Rory move 03594095904 times.

Another edit: What happened to the Dragonfly? Lorelai's whole purpose during season four was working her ass off to create her dream, and now..it's gone. Where is it? Do the girls have lives outside of their absurd relationship problems?
