Welcome to The Originals SS Thread

Family is power. The Original Vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together, always and forever. Now, centuries have passed and the bonds of family are broken. Time, tragedy and hunger for power have torn the Original Family apart. When Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, receives a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, he returns to the city his family helped build. Klaus’ questions lead him to a reunion with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel, a charismatic vampire who has total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans. Determined to help his brother find redemption, Elijah follows Klaus and soon learns that the werewolf Hayley has also come to the French Quarter searching for clues to her family history, and has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie. Tensions between the town’s supernatural factions are nearing a breaking point as Marcel commands his devoted followers and rules with absolute power. For Klaus, the thought of answering to his powerful protégé is unthinkable, and he vows to reclaim what was once his – the power, the city and his family. While they wait to see if their sister Rebekah will leave Mystic Falls and join them, Klaus and Elijah form an uneasy alliance with the witches to ensure that New Orleans will be ruled by THE ORIGINALS once again.

Julie says we'll see Kol again. Talks about the time period he was alive. Will have to do with his history.

Joseph: "What about Finn? Doesn't anyone care about Finn?"

If he could play another character, Joseph would play Marcel or Damon.

Joseph likes Marcel because he's a badass and wicked

Julie says there will be a battle of wits between Klaus and Marcel.

I like the promo except for the Hayley parts. I just don't like Hayley and the child being the witches leverage over Klaus because Klaus shouldn't be giving a damn about either of them.
All I want is for the baby being fake and Klaus finding out, or the baby dying and Klaus going totally ballistic and dark. I just don't want the baby to be his redemption...

She's the only way we're going to get to Klaus is gagworthy. Jesus that baby storyline is a mess.

In addition to a sizzle reel, an alternate ending featuring a witch locked up in an attic by Marcel was screened that showed a different taste of the direction "The Originals" is taking. Plec promises this character is one of the big mysteries in Season 1 that will be dealt with right off the bat. The pilot was already shown on preview night, but it turns out that the show's actual first episode will be a retelling of what fans saw back in April.

"Elijah goes to New Orleans to figure out what his brother is up to," showrunner Julie Plec teases. "We'll see similar scenes and moments that we didn't get to see in the pilot."

Rebekah won't appear in New Orleans until episode 2 because she has her own story to finish. "She's still hoochin' it up with Matt Donovan," Plec says. Rebekah will also appear in the premiere episode of "The Vampire Diaries," which will see her storyline with Matt come to a close. "Something will bring her to new Orleans in the second episode with an ... agenda," Plec says.

Rebekah isn't the only one leaving someone behind in Mystic Falls. Elijah also had to say farewell to Katherine. "I 100 percent thinks he still has feelings for Katherine, but the level of his devotion to his family [comes first]," Daniel Gillies says of Elijah's departure.

Then there are Klaroline fans, who aren't super happy about Klaus having a new baby mama. Expect that the Klaus and Caroline relationship will still be dealt with. "It's not like she doesn't exist," Plec says. "If anything she's sort of like the Buffy to his Angel. She made an impact on him." Joseph Morgan adds of the seeming end of that relationship, "It's all I hear about."

Beyond the original vampires in "The Originals," Marcel will also be put front and center. Charles Michael Davis' new character will be explored through flashbacks all through Season 1, with the first few episodes looking into how Marcel and Klaus first met and then watch Marcel "grow from a boy to a man."

Phoebe Tonkin throws a wrench in "The Originals" storyline as her werewolf character Hayley is pregnant with Klaus' child. Plec says that romance might not necessarily follow the one night stand-turned-parenthood, but at least both characters have a bond. For Morgan, something a bit different brought Klaus to Hayley.

"He's had two and a half seasons of celibacy, so he has some pent up energy," Morgan jokes. "I got away with two seasons of having a shirt on 'The Vampire Diaries.' I think that's got to be a record."

When a fan asked whether Klaus and Hayley's baby will be a hybrid or some new creature, Plec hedged and says, "I obviously can't give an answer to that." Still, she gave an answer of swords, saying, "I think that everybody will have their own opinion about what this baby and what it means." She continues, "There will be a million supernatural debates. ... It will be part of the fun of waiting for it to be born."

All Holt wants, though, is for it to be a "husky puppy." We'll be the first to second that.

If that baby is going to be born (and nope not having fun speculating and inclined to have any supernatural debate) it really shouldn't be anything else than just a human with a werewolf gene. But def prefer the child dying or Hayley just being pregnant forever over having to deal with a baby over the show.

I agree. If they wanted to do a baby they should have done it in TVD (with it just having 1-2 seasons to go) or waited till the final season of TO. DO they really expect us to wanna watch 4-5 seasons of TO with a baby/child growing up? Noone is interested in seeing that, it doesn't work on shows except in a show like Modern family. I guess tho she will just have the child grow up in a demon dimension or have accelerated development, since JP likes to copy others.

I also like the idea of flashbacks don't mind a couple about Marcel but do hope we get most about the siblings. I hope Marcel will get killed in the first or second season. Klaus would be weak if he doesn't kill Marcel within that timeframe. And while I expect I will totally love the character, I want the villains to just die for once.

The first episode is basically a re telling of the backdoor pilot. So are they going to jump 2-3 months between the first and second episode or are they going to ignore continuity with TVD altogether? If they don't skip the months it won't make sense with rebekah moving to NOLA and crossover issues.

Well I don't think they care about such things and I doubt we'll see a 4-5 months pregnant Haley on episode 2... which makes them look even more stupid.

I just realized Camille is the new Matt. Every character has a purpose. The witches, Marcel and even Hayley. But Camille is just the brave bartender with some ~interesting background that may understand her to understand why people is evil or to be curious to figure out why they are.

can she sound any more purposeless?

Considering that Camille and the other witches weren't at CC, I'm going to assume they'll just be supporting roles
