I don't know about some of you, but I just HATE Jean Grey, in the comic and cartoons MOST. She might be powerful, but her character is SO boring. She's such a yawn. The only time she's actually interesting is when she's Dark Phoenix and even then she's not completely herself, she's someone else. She's such a goodie-goodie. Every book she was in was painful. In the movie her insecurities were extremely hard to watch.

Reasons We Hate Her
1. Because she has the personality of a blank piece of paper.
2. Because her coming back from the dead routine is getting pretty old now.
3. Because she's ONLY interesting when the Pheonix has taken over her personality.
4.Because she was hating on Emma when she couldn't get a rise out of her husband.
5. Because she can't keep an actual codename.
6. Because Madelyne Pryor was way cooler.
7. Because she thinks she is better then everyone.
8. Because she can't take rejection.
9. Because she butts into other peoples business.

I HATE Jean so much I can't describe it. After the first 100 times, I just wanted her to stay deader then a doornail. ARGH.

Plus I love Scott and Emma together so she puts a crimp in my 'ship

I think that her getting the Phoenix was bittersweet because it turned her interesting, but now she won't stay dead. Before I used to hate Cyclops, but now that he's with Emma I like him way more. Sometimes I wonder why they were even together. They're so similar that they were like brother and sister.

Being with Wolverine was interesting, but even then her goodie-goodieness just makes a possibly interesting relationship boring. In fact she just makes ANYTHING interesting boring.

Interesting thread you to have going. I don't read X-men comics enough to be tired of any of them (except maybe Wolverine since he's everywhere), plus I've always kind of liked Jean the few times I've read X-men. I don't like her and Scott together though.

Anyway, just popping in to say hi!

You guys are making me laugh. I'm not a Jean Grey fan. I don't hate her as much as I used to. I've calmed down a little about it, but this is the order in which I hate Jean Grey.

1.) Movie version - If Jean weren't bad enough, they cast a bad actress to play her.

2.) X-Men Evolution - Such a goody goody, probably what made me a Cyclops/Rogue shipper

3.) X-Men, The Animated Series - I watched one episode and stopped watching it b/c it was the Cyke/Phoenix wedding.

4.) X - Men Comics - This is where I can tolerate her the most. I even like her, but I do get very tired of her.

That being said. I enjoyed the latest Phoenix miniseries.

Kat, I'm a huge Scott/Emma shipper too.

I ABHOR her and Scott together. They both did nothing for each other. True that they have made sacrifices for each other, but one of them is always dying or getting cloned. After 30 years it gets a little tired.

I think that I hated X-Men Evolution of Jean Grey the most. she was so stuck up and still NOT interesting. Like you know that Jean and Scott are SUPPOSED to be together, but you're never sure of WHY exactly.

Ugh, I wish the Phoenix would've eaten her inside and left. The fact that she may come back makes me so upset.

Scott and Jean always seemed thrown together because...Technically, I think she's the first female he met after puberty hit. Beast was too "ugly", Iceman was too young (at the time), and Angel was too "perfect" (rich handsome, etc)

I don't think Jean is coming back anytime soon. Scott and Emma are surprisingly popular. And Joss Whedon, Chris Claremont, etc have been using them a lot.

I wish they could do X-3 without her, but no such luck.

Are Scott and Emma REALLY that popular? I hope so, because they're much better than him and Jean. We should call ourselves 'Semma Shippers.' lol

I wouldn't say they're that popular. But they're popular with the current writers (ie Joss Whedon), and the newer fans. In fact, one of the reasons I left most X-Men boards b/c I was tired of being told if you're a "real" fan, you wouldn't accept S/E. It drove me up the wall!

JK. I have always been more of a Wolvie/Jean person, that's the main reason I don't like her and Scott together. Also, I didn't watch the X:Men Evolution cartoon because I didn't like it...and I like Famke, so that probably made me not hate Jean in the movies a little bit. Of course, I do think they cast the role a bit wrong because she looks waaay older than Scott. They should have gone a different route with Jean, or cast a different Scott if they insist on them being together in the movies.

I liked the fact that Jean was older than Scott actually. (In the movie that is.) That was the ONE aspect I liked about her.

I didn't have a problem with movie Jean being older. It was actually a little refreshing. I just didn't care for Famke in the role.

I agree Tasha, Madeline was *way* cooler than Jean.

Someone slap me if I ever say someone isn't a "real fan".
