Webcomics Discussion Thread #1: The Bad, The Ugly, and The Exceptionally Good

As comic lovers, I'm more than certain that there have to be a few number of people here who read web comics. There are a TON of them out there.

If you haven't, one of the biggest resource out there is ONLINECOMICS.NET. There have them categorized from genre, to type, and anything else.

A lot of manga artists have been published by Tokyopop and a few other places so good things come to those who are popular...or good, depending.

So does anyone have any that they have been reading and would love to recommend or discuss? Or does anyone have a webcomic that they would love to list here so I can put it in this thread?

Shockingly, I've never read a web comic. I'll have to check out the site. But Kat talked about starting a thread for them awhile back.

I'm pretty sure there are other who read them.

Well no biggie. I think that while there are a ton of not so good webcomics out there. There are fun to read, b/c they're totally creator owned and they don't have to worry about being censored and being told that they "can't do that."

I have my own, that I need to update as soon as I do the script for the next chapter.

The only web comic I know (that is not fan made) is Mega Tokyo. It's pretty good.

P.S Jiberty, thanks for the link to the webcomics. I'll hopefully update some of them by summer time so that way, I have done a decent amount of the story line.

Edited- See pics in the comic book thread.

I did see your pics in the thread. I thought that they were very good and I can't wait to see your pages.

As for MegaTokyo, I tried to read it, but I just can't get into it. I think that Gallagher's work is pretty good, but it's just his face's urk me, a LOT and I've never found the story to be that interesting. I do like to see his building/architecture, because, to me, those are done pretty well.

Some webcomics I do like to read every so often are:

My friends's webcomics:
Blood And The Art of Baking

and

Asali

Melissa does Sokora Refugees

There was also another one that was EXCELLENT, if I could remember the name of it...
ahh...it's Bad Blood, which is excellent and I believe nominated for an Eisner award.

Well I hope that you check some of these out and like them. ^^

In the beginning, I kinda got the plot...sort of. Two friends who are stranded in Japan. One of them is working in hopes to get enough money to go back to America while the other is just this crazed gamer freak who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. But because my computer requires dial up (unless if I can be connected to someone else's router), it usually takes a long time to load pics...thus, i don't follow up on updates. So I just buy the manga ^.^

Actually, MT helps me with most of my sketches because it seems easy. I use other manga to help me with poses and drawing guys (the only trouble I have drawing).

I'll check out the web comics when I get home Jiberty. I'm still at school

I used to check out onlinecomics.net all the time, but I haven't been there in forever. Thanks for reminding me of it.

The only webcomic I've actually read was Mega Tokyo. I haven't caught up with it lately but I buy the manga to make up for it

I have not read Web Tokyo, but I've been on that site & well if you haven't been on it lately it is sort of in development. At least the story & character sections are.
