Rurouni Kenshin: the one and only Battōsai
I searched the whole forum and realized that people talk about Rurouni Kenshin here and there but no actually thread.
I read part of the manga a few years back, unfortunately, I never actually finished it. Suprisingly, I never saw the anime series or the anime movie. BUT last weekend, I saw the Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie. It was really awesome and reminded me of scenes I read in the manga. __________________

It's the story of a samurai who decided to put aside his assassin career after the war ended. He just wanted to be wanderer and stay low key.

The live-action movie stayed true to the manga in my opinion. It was awesome.
It is planned that they'll make 2 more movies. They started filming the 2nd movie already with Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note, Battle Royale) playing Shishio (villan in the Kyoto arc story). I can't wait. The sequel will be in theaters in Japan next summer. __________________

I'm not sure the first movie was released in the US. It came out in Japan last summer. I only saw the movie last week at Fantasia (a movie festival) here in Canada.
I wouldn't put my hopes up :-/ __________________

Ohhh there....Apparently it's available on DVD in the US:
Amazon.com: Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Movie [Japanese Audio with English Subtitles] [All Region]: Movies & TV At least no renamed to Samurai X for this one. I never understood why change the name. Easier to remember maybe? But to me Kenshin is Kenshin. __________________

"Samurai X" was only known to the North American audience. For the rest of the world, it's Rurouni Kenshin.
My guess is to keep it simple and so people can remember it easily? __________________

Love the manga, anime and movie. Didn't know there will be more movies though. I'm excited.

I read the manga years ago. I remembered how scary it was to see Shishio. If my memory is good, the first scene where we see Shishio was in a bath with lots of women. I can't wait to see this come to life in the movie sequel.
I think Rurouni Kenshin movie will be on my birthday list or Xmas __________________
