Unfortunately. When I was a kid I could catch it on several channels. Now none.

I highly doubt Cartoon Network is airing the old stuff. Maybe they're slowly returning to it (I don't know about Flintstones yet) since lately around 9am-ish, I happen to catch either Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry on Cartoon Network (not its sister network Boomerang) as well as Dexter's Lab.

Do you prefer Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as babies or teenagers?

I definitely prefer them as babies. Pebbles as a teenager always got on my nerves, especially when she had one of her brilliant ideas.

In a general response, babies that turn in to teenagers don't often work well. It's possible but the writing would have to work well. To be honest, I've never seen Bamm Bamm and Pebbles in their teenage form but I remember seeing the characters from Rugrats and Powerpuff Girls become teenagers and...well let's just say for a viewer, it didn't really work out.

It turns out that teenage Pebbles was voiced by Sally Struthers.

So I decided to search out for a video of the teenage version of Pebbles. Here's what I found and watched:

YouTube Link

First of all, being strapped to a cactus, and later running with a cactus piggy backing on you defies all logic even if it is a cartoon.

Considering that Hanna-Barbera was behind The Flintstones, it's no surprise that the teenage Pebbles bears a striking resemblance to Daphne of the Scooby Doo series amongst some other female characters of the Hanna-Barbera franchise.

But in terms of the clip, how old was Bamm Bamm supposed to be in the spin off? With his voice cracking, I assumed he was at least thirteen, the blissful time for guys to hit puberty. But the way he was depicted, he looked like he was in his mid-teens.

I didn't notice the similarities between the two until you mentioned it Kris. My favorite character with the teenagers was Schleprock - "wowsy wowsy, woo woo".

Bamm-Bamm had to be old enough to drive. But I can't recall if they were still in school.

I'm really way off about the age. Just looked up the info and they were supposed to be in high school. Well, you figure since Pebbles has a bit of the Daphne look and all...

Grilka 07-11-2011 09:15 PM

Hmm, I'm trying to remember if Pebbles was more like Josie from Josie and the Pussycats.

Lain 07-13-2011 11:57 AM

Hmm, well this is Josie (to the left):

And Pebbles:

And then Daphne:

The eyes are closer to Josie's.

Lain 07-14-2011 11:51 PM

Maybe it's a combination of both. Josie's eyes and Daphne's hair bounce.

Grilka 07-17-2011 09:17 PM

Daphne also reminds me of Jeannie. It was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon version of I Dream of Jeannie, but they're all teenagers.

Lain 07-17-2011 10:11 PM

Never knew there was a cartoon version of that show. The only memory I have of I Dream of Jeanie is that the intro was animated, like Bewitched

Jeannie had a sidekick named Babu. He would yell, "Yapple Dapple" when he conjured up his powers.
