My Own Private Idaho

Saw it a few weeks ago and was blown away. Not only was Keanu gorgeous in this, but his acting was beyond amazing and Gus Van Sant's directing was just revolutionary. Its one of my favourite flicks of all time now.

The scenery got to me, too. Theres just something about a flat stretch of golden grass before you, with no buildings on the horizon...its depressing, yet nostalgic and beautiful...and its ineffible. I always feel so elated yet so saddened when I drive through fields like these, so when I saw this movie you can imagine the whirlwind of emotions.

River was amazing as well, and hell, its so understandable why hed love Keanu.

Ams! You're back!

Yes, MOPI is an amazing movie. I thought the cast was perfect!

Rodney Harvey is another actor that could've been great! So sad what happened to him, too.

One question I do have, though...how could Scott ditch his friends like that after his father passed away? Bob and the others were like his family. Scott just totally ignored them and acted as if he hadn't even met them at all! Was it ALL just an act to get back at his dad? How can someone fake friendship like that for ALL that time and then just...POOF! "I'm sorry. I don't know you. Get out of my way!"? Weird!

Yes! I am! :huggle liz:

Mmm. New perfume?

What happened to him? Im not familiar with his story.

And well, the way I saw it, Scott cared about them, but he saw it as necessary to become what he needed to be. I dont think it was love for his father. I mean, he planned to do what he did all along. And I think finding that girl helped. I mean, one cant be all that thrilled to live a life of prostitution.

::huggles Ams back:: How'd you guess? It's Liz Claiborne's Curve.

Rodney Harvey was found dead in a hotel. Drug overdose. Not an unfamiliar story, but it's just so sad! He was so young and had potential as an actor. He was a Calvin Klein model, I believe.

And...no, I understand that one would not be very happy about living a life of prostitution. Now I remember Scott saying that he saw Bob as his father only because he needed to learn what he needed to learn to survive in that life. Not in those exact words, but he sounded like he planned to go back to being a decent member of society later on. It was just so sad that he left Mike being ill as he was. Scott was the only one who took good care of him, at least that's what I gathered.

I have a good nose.

And thats terrible. Hopefully stuff he didnt learn from the movie.

And I understand what you mean. But the movie wouldnt be the same if he stayed would it? Its supposed to be tragic, otherwise the entire point would be lost.

I found Scotts girl really gorgeous though. Anyone else think she was really naturally pretty?

You and me both! I've heard so much about this movie I can't wait to see it! I've asked around my video store, but they don't have it.

London2LA - It was released on dvd, but region 2 or 4. I think if you have a look on ebay you might find it. Can't find it any shops. I have it on video but want it on dvd too.

Go to Amazon.com and have them send you an email when it comes out in your area. Its also sort of a vote if you do, because Amazon sends the company the list of people who are waiting, and if theres a lot, obviously, theyll put it out on DVD.

Now, if I'm in Europe, should I contact Amazon.co.uk?

I found the VHS, but I have no idea what I have to do to make them do what you just said.
