My mom does that in person.

Lately we get half a sentence, and only about 50% of the time can I guess what she's trying to say.

So I can see how phone conversations can get difficult.

With my mother, it's stream-of-consciousness.

She knows what she's talking about, but she jumps back and forth between a fair amount of topics.

And she never names things, she just go with pronouns, of which there's a limited amount.

So it just becomes a massive soup and I lose the plot entirery.

My mom just talks from subject to subject, whatever pops into her head in moments.

That would make it more difficult to follow your mom.

I've found there is no plot, and I just comment/nod every now and then.

I think my mother's just decided we all live in her world and it's on us to keep up with her.

Tonight was another one of those times where she tried to control everything but, when confronted by that fact, she doesn't want to take responsibility for it.

I mean, when you're running after the servers so they take the order and you decide it's time to open presents, or it's not time yet to start opening presents...

I mean, you're taking charge there.

When your mother says it's the world according to Queenie, I thought that meant she was Queenie.

Yes, she is Queenie.

And the world according to Queenie is all about denial.

Plus, if we don't agree with and go with her denial, she gets angry.

It's hard when that happens, and you can see what's going on, and she doesn't take responsibility.

Maybe you get your desire to avoid things you don't like from her.

Either way, I can see how it can be frustrating.

I just spent the day with my mother and stepfather.

It was lovely, but exhausting.
