Favorite Directors #1

I have lots but Ridley Scott & Joel Joel Schumacher are my darlings.

Especially Joel Schumacher because it seems I love all his movies before knowing he was the one directing! Now I know all his movies and though I haven't seen them all, I plan to... That of course included "POTO" which I have yet to see.

My darling is Wong Kar-Wai.
I'm obsessed with his movies for the last 8 years. I just adore each and every one of his movies. They're truly beautiful, poetic and original. I'm a true fan.

Ridley Scott and Sofia Coppola: those are the only two names that came to mind immediately.

I have so many but I think Alfred Hitchcock and Francis Ford Coppola are my favourites. Both are so talented and their films can really inspire viewers. I'm such a fan of both.

Wow, this is hard. Cuz a lot of directors, I'd like them in one movie but then his or her next movie I'd be like "Meh. Not all that great." So it's kinda hard to have a fav one.

Just wanted to throw a name out there that hadn't been mentioned yet - Paul Thomas Anderson. He's one of the many, anyway.

Every time we do one of these threads I fail to answer because there are just too many!

Name a genre and I'll give you director...or two, or three...

Probably Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Peter Jackson, Tim Burton...I'll have to stop there or my list will include about 50 people.

I agree Ridley Scott is great. Joel Shumacher however ?!?! He has about 3 good movies and heaps of turkeys.

My favourite director is Peter Weir. He's so diverse.

Okay, this thread is degenerating into lists of directors, rather than a discussion. It would be great if everyone could discuss why these people are your favorite directors.
