Favorite DVD layout and why?

My favorite DVD layout would have to be for Smallville: Season 1. I like how the DVD is like a flip book, which makes it easy to get each disc. In addition, the menu screen starts with the theme song and shows clips from season one. It's really nice.

How about you?

I'm most impressed with Moulin Rouge. The art work menus are like beautiful photo collages. And I really like the moods of the colours that have been used. I think it's the style that I like to look at a lot.

I was going to say Moulin Rogue also. Everything about it is so beautiful and it looks antique. I also love all the special features on the 2 disc set. I love when DVDs are loaded with hours worth of special features.

"Pearl Harbor: Director's Cut" has a nice quad fold (four discs total) design that is supposed to ressemble a WWII era dairy and is filled with mock ads that say buy war bonds and have Rosey The Riveter and Uncle Sam Wants You!

It's very tastefully done and makes all the discs very accessible.

As far as menus... "The Thomas Crown Affair" (remake with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Rousso) is really cool because it is a wing of a museum (which features prominently in the fillm), and each chapter is a framed picture on the museum wall. When you go to more scenes, the camera literally walks through the museum to another wing where more scenes are on different walls with different frames. I thought this was kind of a fun homage to the film the way it was done.

I like Pulp Fiction. I like how it has a little menu for Jack Rabbit Slims which is the restaurant Vincent and Mia go to for dinner. I also like the commentary. It isn't in the standard form of the director or whoever is doing the commentary talking over the movie. The commentary is in the form of text at the bottom of the screen. It allows the viewer to still watch the movie, and learn about the behind the scenes info without voices overlapping voices. Of course, you don't get the luxury of hearing the voice of the people delivering the commentary, but that's something I can live without.

Six Feet Under: The Complete First Season, it pretty much puts all TV/Dvds and most movies to shame. It has an amazing opening, and the graphics are insane. And the episode previews/previouslys, that was cool.
& the box was nice, with a case that pulls up and looks like a coffin going down. Very ingenious. I was impressed. Cannot wait to see the 2nd season, Im sure it will be just as good.

Pirates of the Caribbean because it has 2 different DVD's for extra things. The extra things makes you to seem like you were the one filming the movie but you are in your living room.

I would have to go with Moulin Rouge as well. Gorgeous layout and the red color looks great. So many special features you could spend days watching them. In fact, the reason why I bought the DVD, was because I had never seen so many on a DVD cover before

#1. The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring: Extended Edition - I love how the camera pans across Bilbo's desk, covered with piles of parchment paper, pens and inkwells (if I remember correctly). And the animated menus and font for the Scene Selection have a very faded storybook look.

#2. TRANSFORMERS - The Illuminated innerworkings of the eye of Optimus Prime and his shadow shown in a semi-360 shot as he studies the glowing AllSpark in the palm of his hand, and the montage of scenes that roate around the AllSpark to the theme of "Autobots" is just beautiful. The Second Disc is opposite, showing the glowing red eye of Megatron before zooming out and his figure as his arm extends and his hand clenches shut over the Decepticon Symbol (I think). Not as a fantastic as Disc 1, but still awesome.

Chasing Amy. Why? Because when I look at the DVD cover it reminds me that it is one of those movies I can watch over and over again. I still cry when Holden professes his love for Alyssa, and I still cry over their breakup. I even cry when I look at the DVD cover.

as for box desgin of the dvd i would say the simpsons seasons that arent thepersons face they are done really well especially this latest one that folds out into a carnival park but clevley has pictures of each of the episodes in its collage that you dont notice at first it gives alot to look at.

In terms of dvd menu layout i would say that Romeo and juliet music edition has a great layout with it being the whole stage with the curtains and just how it moves into it.
