They are literally remaking everything now. They particularly enjoy milking the hell out of beloved (80s/90s) franchises. I think it's sad in this case because Wes Craven literally doesn't get a say in it. I remember when they asked him about the 2010 Nightmare on Elm Street reboot on the 'Never Sleep Again' documentary and he seemed tired and disgusted by it. He certainly didn't seem the type to be satisfied with doing endless instalments of something just for box office wealth.

Remakes bring in the money sadly, and i think a remake can work but you need someone who wants to make the thing instead of someone just looking for a paycheck.

It probably won't be long until they reboot Scream with a new Sidney, particularly since Neve parted ways over money and they're probably bitter about it.
