Yeah I'm not surprised he's not involved. I heard it's basically a fan inspired movie, aka a knock-off I guess It looks a lot like Se7en (the Brad Pitt movie) __________________

I love the Saw series sooo much!
I've watched the first one the most, and it's my favourite horror/thriller film ever. I watched it again the other day and made these gifs. __________________

The first one was the best, especially that Jigsaw reveal. I liked the first three, then as per usual with horror movies they made too many and ruined it.

^^ Love those gifs, love that movie
The way I see it, the series' strongest movies were the first two. SAW was brilliant for the two-man exchange between Adam and Dr Gordon. Great chemistry between the actors (two different personalities cleverly mesh and clash as the fight for freedom becomes more desperate). Less emphasis on gore worked better, in my opinion - this one cared about story first and foremost, using suspense to its advantage. SAW 2 was a great sequel for its cat and mouse interplay between Detective Matthews and Jigsaw, and you're slowly led to realize that the ironic tragedy of Donnie Wahlberg's character is failing to recognize when to stay calm and just listen to instructions - Jigsaw manipulates this weakness and uses it to destroy his search for his son. __________________

I also loved Amanda's presence in all three films, and I liked the idea of her becoming Jigsaw's apprentice. Then they ruined that too with that other guy, blech. The traps were also better in the first films as well, very ironic and psychological to the people they happened to.

Yeah I think this worked as a trilogy . Amanda was an interesting character because she perpetuated the idea that change doesn't necessarily mean in a good way.
I forgot to talk about SAW 3 - it definitely used story to its advantage like the first two did and I loved the reveal that the two separate stories going on in the movie (a father avenging his son, and a cheating wife who is kidnapped by Amanda to medicate Jigsaw) are actually interlinked by their marriage. I think Leigh Whannell and James Wan probably envisioned it as a more of a trilogy, because I don't think they were involved with the others beyond 3. You can see after this point that the new writers are just making it more like your average slasher series with the gory traps and random strangers doing awful things to each other to survive -- it loses the sense of morality that Jigsaw was trying to point out in the first 3 movies. __________________

I agree with all of that. People said they saw the twist with the man and woman being a married couple coming but when I first saw it, I didn't at all. The first three films had great twists at the end, and they actually added up and made sense when you watched it again. The ones after the third one were trying way too hard to rewrite things in past movies to sloppily connect everything. I wish it would of stayed at three movies, Jigsaw dying at the end was when the series should of ended.

And that being said, it makes TOTAL sense when it is revealed. It all fits like a perfect puzzle. And I agree that once Jigsaw is dead, it's such a struggle for the movies to go anywhere after that. Although it was mildly interesting that they brought in his ex-girlfriend and had that whole backstory to give him more sympathy (and I say a LIMITED amount) __________________
